What is up with those suits on Wolf and Artosis? I don't know Korean fashion, so is that atrocious bunching up deliberate? It looks like the jackets are a couple of sizes too big on both guys. Almost like Artosis is trying to fill Khaldor's suit.

nothing special. Journey looked decent for an up and comer but he just wasn't on the same level of Solar. Solar won comfortably but it wasn't like a tassadar terrible showing or something like that. Dear vs ByuL not really that interesting. ByuL just kind of made mutas and held an attack while doing crippling damage

Merry Go Round has to be one of the best starts for a map in a long time. Usually people avoid the new maps for a couple of weeks but it's even been the losers' pick a couple of times

Hyun played well enough to make up for beating Taeja, which means he played pretty freaking well. Also his interview was really neat. He had a lot of respect for Taeja and said "Protoss imba."

Pretty clear that this entire game was prepared by Journey rather than a last minute strategy out of desperation. It's pretty smart when you think about it:
Since Journey was able to secure the Gold as his main base, suddenly taking Base 3 (and 2 along the way) is much easier, especially with the buildings in the middle of the map. If you were to traditionally expand from your main to the gold, you'd have a lot more issues with space control + he's able to take both bases faster, which is why Journey has a supply lead right now.

Agreed there is a strategic, positional advantage for base progression. Your more-established new main (gold) is now a defensive line to protect your two expansions.
But: you are MUCH closer to your opponent, who gets a mining head start. That makes you substantially more vulnerable in the opening. I think the question is how long you need to survive to make the gold-first worth it? 5 min? 7 min? 10 min?

Pretty clear that this entire game was prepared by Journey rather than a last minute strategy out of desperation. It's pretty smart when you think about it:
Since Journey was able to secure the Gold as his main base, suddenly taking Base 3 (and 2 along the way) is much easier, especially with the buildings in the middle of the map. If you were to traditionally expand from your main to the gold, you'd have a lot more issues with space control + he's able to take both bases faster, which is why Journey has a supply lead right now.
Artosis dismissing a gold lift, when really it's a well thought out strategy.
Agreed there is a strategic, positional advantage for base progression. Your more-established new main (gold) is now a defensive line to protect your two expansions.
But: you are MUCH closer to your opponent, who gets a mining head start. That makes you substantially more vulnerable in the opening. I think the question is how long you need to survive to make the gold-first worth it? 5 min? 7 min? 10 min?
This is probably why he went for the double bunker contain at ByuL's ramp. He barely contested the spinecrawler break.

the funny thing is 2 years ago Marineking was arguably the best terran if not the best player in the world since he was just winning his 2 MLGs. Too bad he kept shitting the bed in GSL even when he got a decently favorable bracket.
