Rockafella: I'm sorry to hear that. Keep your eyes peeled, and hopefully we'll have something for you in the near future.

And that concludes the second of the Plantronics March Open Cups for the UK. With FMOurk having to forfeit his spot early due to time constraints and our previous champion RobbyG also unable to make it the brackets were thrown wide open for a new UK player to make his mark.

One side of the bracket saw regular competitors, FMBoombox & Vega's JonnyREcco clash in the semi-finals. Boombox has continued to make a name for himself recently in the UK scene, with plans to contest for a WCS Challenger League position after the summer but today he fell short against a proven Zerg legend.

The other side saw players new to the semi-finals in Webby (who advanced over Kelsul) and Solaris Gaming's noX, who managed to beat FMDeranging in a very close series. Everything was on the line for these UK players, not only would the winner be guaranteed at least a Gamecom 780 but also a chance to prove themselves against Scotland's JonnyREcco. Every game was hotly contested but in the end it was noX who advanced to the finals, while Webby will have to settle for another attempt in the future.

The finals began as most people would expect, with JonnyREcco's macro ability leading to a seemingly easy victory for the Grandmaster League Zerg over his Terran opponent.
Unphased, noX would go into Game 2 with a bunker rush strategy that paid dividends in the early game but was unable to fully kill the Scot, and with no solid transition for the Terran player he found himself out of options once JonnyREcco recovered.
With both his macro and aggressive strats not panning out for him, noX was simply unable to create solid opportunities for himself in Game 3. Although playing at his best, JonnyREcco proved himself dominant in a return to form for a player struggling to take the top spots in recent tournaments.

Keep your eyes peeled for more from Plantronics and Multiplay in the future, as we strive to provide fantastic opportunities for UK Starcraft 2 gamers. If you took part or watched and enjoyed yourselves, please let Plantronics know on Twitter @PLTgaming_UK as I know they love the feedback from both players and fans.

Until next time.
