Game 1 he goes for a proxy gate.
Polt scouts it and then Naniwa blames lack of soundproofing.
Naniwa GGs, sits around for like 5 minutes delaying the next game, then forfeits.

Boo'd while leaving booth

I am appalled by Naniwa's disrespect for the tournament, the fans, and his opponent by forfeiting.

Naniwa forfeited after game one citing issues with soundproofing. And yes, loudly.

Naniwa tried to proxy gate under polt's natural mineral line on Daedalus Point. Polt scouted it, Naniwa said, "Nice playing without any soundproofing xD" and left without even trying. Then he caused a long delay while he whined to an admin, then he forfeited. When he walked off teh stage the crowd booed.

Naniwa forfeited after a scouted proxy gate citing soundproof booth issues. Crowd booed Naniwa as he walked off the stage.

You cant force a player to play maybe he had a bad day, maybe he didnt sleep well and there was to many noice. All my respect for Naniwa you must be brave to forfeit in such an event.

forfeiting was fine IMO. it's very sad that his spot didn't go to another player, but i think it's clear that naniwa was in the booth trying to make it work and it just didn't work. you're right, if he felt it was time to go, forfeiting was the right thing to do

It really isn't fine, every other player hasn't had an issue so far. It's too much of a coincidence with his recent announcement. Just looks like he wanted an excuse.

well no one can prove what was in his mind so of course i can't counter your argument. to me, i think he realized he was in a bad emotional state after the first game and didn't think he could play any more games without embarrassing himself and IEM. so i think if he didn't want to play it was the right call

would it be 500% better if he had realized this before the tournament? would it be nice to see hasuobs instead? yes. but shit happens

the only thing i think is abominable is his commentary and whining and trolling

Nani went for 1 gate proxy on Daedalus. Polt went for SCV scout after rax, as he had his SCV moving towards gateway/as he saw gateway crowd was loud (no doubt he would scout it no matter if he heard crowd).

Naniwa concedes the game, talks with admin in booth and then concedes the match. As he walks out of booth, audience boos.

holy subtle troll

This guy isn't actually a troll he's just a really bad poster with weird ideas. He likes to defend protoss against whiners which is good and then cry about terran in his next post.

Troll or not he has a point that you can agree with or not.
If I was Naniwa I would have done pretty much something similar (probably I would have been way smarter that this, but heh).
Probably that makes me a bad person, but I guess that my reason would be bashed by anyone here...

In any case, like Naniwa pointed out
ive given my life and soul to starcraft 3 years and then the second i dont like it at the moment i get so much flak, LOL this communtiy <3

Not really defending him, but sometimes this community feels too self entitled.

We would've sent him off with cheers had he played the series legitimately and lost. Or even if he forfeited the tournament and retired quietly, though less so. This was hugely irresponsible though.

Except for 3/4 of the posts before the match began who went like "Polt gonna crush this scrub ahahah ahahah", I suppose.

Got to realise that pro gaming is fucking stressful,

if you are in that booth and you can't bring your A game to the table you just don't want to play and get demolished in 10 minutes.

I think Naniwa realised he just couldn't bring himself to the required level and forfeited. The best decision...probably not.
But we have to understand it and not go fucking apeshit on a guy.

well said and agreed. be the bigger person and remember that he's human even if he doesn't show that respect to others. lowering yourself to his level doesn't fix anything, nor is it "justice"

at the same time, still ridiculous, still childish, still deserves scorn

Yeh I think we as the community should give Naniwa the slap on the wrist, say that as a progamer he has a responsibility to the fans and he should play out the series and display a certain level of professionalism.

But we shouldn't scream profanity at the guy and try and pitchfork him out of the community. He is a talented player and the reason we love to watch him is that he has a wild personality.

I don't agree with the decision but I can understand why he did it. I hope he can come back stronger than ever because I love to watch him when his head is on right

Naniwa proxied first game. Polt scouted it. Naniwa started bitching about soundproofing (even though the sound from the crowd had nothing to do with Polt scouting it). Naniwa got mad and bitched with an admin and then forfeited. When he walked out of the stage people boo'd him off the stage.
