Exactly, for some players Wolf is great, especially for those that don't understand the game too well(don't get me wrong, I don't think you are one of those), but for other people and pro players, he is saying a lot of things that are just flat out wrong or just don't make any sense.
I can listen to almost any caster, I don't have the problems at all, but sometimes I can't help myself but to facepalm quite hard when I hear Wolf say something.

They only critisize things he gets wrong and mention at the last page, that every one of the listed casters still made it into that ranking in the first plays, because they established themselfs as a top tier caster. Wolf is still one of the best casters in the world, just top 20 instead of top 10. People, who lose in the GSL ro32 are´nt bad players either; People who get last in a formula one race are still top tier drivers.

Yeh it is funny that Catz who was so vocal about the Region Locking and lack of NA scene decided to spend his time on this.
Maybe he looked at what the Koreans were doing and saw that rather than practicing or training hard they do polls and criticise casters.

Hell, the only reason MsC needs a 60 second overcharge is because 1 base protoss is so strong in PvP that it would be very hard to take expansions without the MsC.

Oh please, you can't really compare BW to SC2, BW didn't have things that you couldn't do anything about(Force Fields), or if it had, they were higher in the tech and were quite hard to use because of limited selection, macro, no smart-casting and how BW worked in general.

Exactly. For instance afaic, I prefer sOs play style to the old mech v mech TvT that people here usually worship. The fact is that his strats are at least quite original.

The safety against lots of early aggression gives Protoss a lot of options early game. It used to be that Protoss had to play safe just to stay alive, but now it's the opponent that's constrained by what Protoss can throw at them.

The problem many people have is that toss can kill you with a cheese but usually if you hold it you can´t punish toss after it.

Cheeses and all-ins aren't similar to back and forth games.... when you cheese/all-in you win or you get crushed, I barely see any cheese that goes back and forth except if the winning guy fucks up badly(like Jaedong at IEM against HerO).

With TvZ there's just much more of a 'fighting on equal ground' feeling than there is PvX, everything Protoss does is just perceived as abusive, if they gain an advantage with a push 9/10 they just straight up win no coming back, no sniping the reinforcements etc. sos his style is just perceived as less annoying since it's not standard P play and he's innovative. If his play was the standard it would get hated all the same

The thing is that those builds limit what T and Z can do by only existing. Also MSC allows you to nexus first v Z against any builds. (see oracle v t for easy reference)

Interesting how you phrased that. If zerg makes a mistake guy like sOs will abuse it. TvZ is not even close to that because apart for some builds that really need to be scouted (like 2 fact bf helions), game is way more stable and both players can basically punish each other hard for making mistakes.
Also, in my opinion, the level of excitement between watching a canon rush and for example bunker rush is also quite obvious. So even cheese is more entertaining when it happens. For example, that Mvp vs. Squirtle game 7 was nail biting because terran worker, SCV can be killed while he is constructing a building so there is again much more back-forth micro involved. Same goes for TvZ as well. The obvious exceptions are maps where you can wall off with 3 bunkers. But even then, your production is in the middle of the map. In PvZ you make a forge at home and wall yourself off with pylons at his mineral line and warp in and just wait for building to finish. Watching a canon rush and game like above mentioned is quite different level of intenseness and entertainment because it sends the vibe that both players can screw up pretty bad and lose the game.
But as I said, opinions are different, that is my view on the game so watching something like 2 base blink or proxy oracle or DT rush or canon rush is just way less interesting to me, especially in a series you just get to watch games like that and no "regular macro games".

Roach burrow has gotten a speed upgrade as well. Basically roaches are better for both fighting and harass.

It's expensive, easy to be absolutely useless, and hydras are so squishy that roaches end up being better without an excellent composition and positioning

I'm still a fan of infestors tho, holding roach groups and completely eliminating them instead of being able to just save most from a losing battle is a big plus for me. But fcours, you're right and the pros obviously have their (advanced) reasons for playing the way they do

I actually like this more than muta vs muta. Yes the games were intense but it was far more volatile. At least with roaches I can appreciate the positioning and burrow harass. Muta vs Muta was like "lololol I have 5 more mutas, fuck your shit!"

I still enjoy that a lot more than turtle styles where both players mass their deathball for like 20 minutes and than a-move into one another to decide the game within 20 seconds.

iirc it's not allowed for WCS. ESL had it for WCS EU at first but got told to stop

I don't know... The supply was even, but Life had less drones (-> though probably about the same income thanks to the gold base), therefore a bigger army. I don't know how far ahead life was, but I'd argue he was ahead for sure.

Combination of both I'd say. The mutas are definitely better than roaches though, they're free dps since no anti air and they can later assist for extra harassment (which is what Life did). His roaches had no upgrades either during that engagement

Well, I don't know, but it seriously looked like these Mutas won him the game. A few more Roaches (with worse upgrades) wouldn't have done that much, imo.
But that game was just brillantly played by Life. Of course it might just have been a desperation move - but it definitely was a good one xD
I've seen Sen's muta opener into 3 base max roach but never this type of 6muta after opening roach play. Life looking pretty smart and dominant again =) Hope he can keep it up in the other matchups as well!

Mutas killed about 6 drones directly, killed 3 indirectly, made roro lose somewhere between 8-10 roaches and made him lose 225 minerals for useless spores.

sOs tends to play very risky builds(he can play standard as well but usually doesn't chose to). When they work, he owns. When they don't work, he looks like a noob.

I am SO damn glad that this guy didn't make it to the Ro8.
Kinda glad sOs made it through, just cause Daedalus Point being in the map pool is enough to make me feel sorry enough for Protoss players to not give them the usual amount of hate (especially vs 3 Zergs in your group).
On another note, the last game of the night was really something. When I saw Life got for a Spire when he was behind, and Roro setting up for a big Roach push, I was like "well, Life is giving Roro a window to attack where he can just straight up die... And here come the Roaches... zzzz" But Life didn't overmake Mutas. He made the perfect amount (while intelligently reinforcing with Roaches and not more Mutas) to hold and follow up with enough counter-damage to slow and pin Roro down until he mustered up a vastly superior Roach army with which to demolish the patch-Zerg that is Roro! Really loved how Life just outplayed Roro the entire night!

I think it's required to have a certain number of open spots, and IEM Katowice is only having 2 players advancing from the open bracket.
The requirement was atleast 25% of players have to qualify(thats what it was last year), but since 3 players made it through online qualifiers and 2 from the open bracket it would be 5/16,which is 31%. On the other hand each "invite" qualified by placing well in previous IEM events, all of which had open brackets aswell. I dont understand why it wouldnt award WCS points.
Edit: Just checked, the 25% requirement is still in place and would be met.
