Just came home to check the results, so glad I missed this tournament. Boring and predictable results with so many Koreans as always, sorry SC2 you lost me as a casual viewer.

oh no how ever will the scene survive without you

You predicted San to win? I mean that's cool and all, hipster ftw, but I kinda bet that you actually didn't expect this

I don't see how that's relevant to him making an unnecessary and snarky comment though. If you're gonna leave just fucking leave, nobody cares. :/

But if you must know, I made no predictions on who would win, since I was torn between TaeJa, Jaedong and san, who I believed to be the strongest representative of their respective races. Clearly mistaken on the 1st one at least but hey there you go.

Oh sorry! That wasn't really meant for you, it was more for the original comment by marcesr :p

It's ok. I think he was referring to the fact that it's predictable because a Korean won, no matter who, which is funny considering 1. it's been like this for a long time (why would you stick around this long just to complain) and 2. there were some mighty upsets in terms of games played, if not end results. (TaeJa TvZ cough cough, HerO vs Zanster)

To be honest there really wasn't any foreigner present at the tournament who could have predictably won the entire tournament. Maybe Elfi or Welmu with their wacky PvP skills, but even as a Finn rooting for my comrades I honestly didn't except them to reach past RO8 even in the best case scenario.

While I understand the frustration of Korean dominance for some, I'd suggest more positive focus. SortOf beat Taeja (albeit the Taeja v Z you mentioned), Welmu beat Life, Elfi beat Apocalypse almost twice, BabyKnight beat Alicia 3-0 (before getting crushed by him 0-3), Zanster beat HerO (also getting payback delivered on him).

The non-koreans can certainly make a splash. The issue (still) seems to be consistency. I'm not qualified to analyze what is the key factor, but my guesses would be mind games and how to modify strategy choices during a tournament, when your opponent can see and disect your every move, habit, and desicion making process during past games.

Dear looked really shaky this tournament. Almost losing to both Apocalypse and ForGG, and not standing a chance against Stardust in the groups and against San in the finals.

Congrats to San

nah he rly was a shitton of noob there ^^ artosis and tastless had every right to call him "worst player" cause he rly rly was ^^ he was so bad it was unwatchable

thats why everone was so wtf'ed when he came back and destroyed everyone

So completely untrue, he just messed up a Forge FE. I was a [SanFan] in GSL Season 1 when he played an amazing game vs Inca on Delta Quadrant in RO16 <3.

I think it's just a very visual mistake so it's easy to pick on it, especially at the start of code S when you're kind of used to saying "yeah I'm sorry usually we have better games but these guys are just bad" over and over every time you're not casting Fruitdealer or the like. You have to remember that at this time Tastosis were saying that FFE was just a bad build that zerg could easily destroy, so it was a combination of doing a bad build (FFE) and executing it wrong (fail pylon).

In a semi-recent game (like 8 months ago or something) I remember Hyun couldn't expand because of a creep tumor he had placed, and no one would say Hyun is awful for it.

(I'm not saying he was good btw, he had some very bad games and this was one of them, but most people had awful games at the time, this just made him stand out as the worst when almost everyone was also the worst)

He was also just the first to do something like it on a big stage. He's not even the only protoss player that has done it in the GSL. (P)anypro did it as well

It wasn't just the FFE vs Nestea it was also the one group stage where he lost his games all fast and I don't think they were all vs protoss either.

Its interesting to see where the early GSL people have gone. So many disappeared but players like San and MC are still around and doing well.

Yeah it's interesting to look at
just looking at the people I recognize from more than just open seasons

Could be, I think I'm mixing it up with the Nestea spine caller rush on the FFE.

Wow. Despite losing some passion recently, I'm really happy to see ManZenith take this. I don't think he's ever won a biggish tournament before has he? Could be wrong but yeh.
To go 3-0,3-0 and 4-0 to the title is awesome.

Imagine going back in time and telling everyone after that series vs check that he will win a premier tournament.

His real break out performance was against nestea where he basically showed archon toilet for the first time in a profeessional game and the game against sc that made david kim erase khaidarian amulet.

There was a sho period of time where he was considered the best protoss out there. However he did not overcome MC who took the overall tournament.

After that san never made a big splash again suntil recently his performance in IEM.

He is someone who played as a pro for years without having any results and thats admirable.

The group where "he lost his games all fast" was against InCa and MC, considered best PvPers at the time. He did not get to play NaDa. Just for the record.
