Boring and predictable results with so many Koreans as always, sorry SC2 you lost me as a casual viewer. oh no how ever will the scene survive without you You predicted San to win? I mean that's cool and all, hipster ftw, but I kinda bet that you actually didn't expect this I don't see how that's relevant to him making an unnecessary and snarky comment though. If you're gonna leave just fucking leave, nobody cares. :/ But if you must know, I made no predictions on who would win, since I was torn between TaeJa, Jaedong and san, who I believed to be the strongest representative of their respective races. Clearly mistaken on the 1st one at least but hey there you go. Oh sorry! That wasn't really meant for you, it was more for the original comment by marcesr :p It's ok. I think he was referring to the fact that it's predictable because a Korean won, no matter who, which is funny considering 1. it's been like this for a long time (why would you stick around this long just to complain) and 2. there were some mighty upsets in terms of games played, if not end results. (TaeJa TvZ cough cough, HerO vs Zanster)
To be honest there really wasn't any foreigner present at the tournament who could have predictably won the entire tournament. Maybe Elfi or Welmu with their wacky PvP skills, but even as a Finn rooting for my comrades I honestly didn't except them to reach past RO8 even in the best case scenario.
While I understand the frustration of Korean dominance for some, I'd suggest more positive focus. SortOf beat Taeja (albeit the Taeja v Z you mentioned), Welmu beat Life, Elfi beat Apocalypse almost twice, BabyKnight beat Alicia 3-0 (before getting crushed by him 0-3), Zanster beat HerO (also getting payback delivered on him).
The non-koreans can certainly make a splash. The issue (still) seems to be consistency. I'm not qualified to analyze what is the key factor, but my guesses would be mind games and how to modify strategy choices during a tournament, when your opponent can see and disect your every move, habit, and desicion making process during past games.

Gratz to san, he didn't lose a single game in the playoffs! Oustanding result!

Dear looked really shaky this tournament. Almost losing to both Apocalypse and ForGG, and not standing a chance against Stardust in the groups and against San in the finals.
Congrats to San

I think it's just a very visual mistake so it's easy to pick on it, especially at the start of code S when you're kind of used to saying "yeah I'm sorry usually we have better games but these guys are just bad" over and over every time you're not casting Fruitdealer or the like. You have to remember that at this time Tastosis were saying that FFE was just a bad build that zerg could easily destroy, so it was a combination of doing a bad build (FFE) and executing it wrong (fail pylon).
In a semi-recent game (like 8 months ago or something) I remember Hyun couldn't expand because of a creep tumor he had placed, and no one would say Hyun is awful for it.
(I'm not saying he was good btw, he had some very bad games and this was one of them, but most people had awful games at the time, this just made him stand out as the worst when almost everyone was also the worst)

He was also just the first to do something like it on a big stage. He's not even the only protoss player that has done it in the GSL. anypro did it as well

It wasn't just the FFE vs Nestea it was also the one group stage where he lost his games all fast and I don't think they were all vs protoss either.
Its interesting to see where the early GSL people have gone. So many disappeared but players like San and MC are still around and doing well.

Yeah it's interesting to look at just looking at the people I recognize from more than just open seasons + Show Spoiler [GSL Open seasons] +*race at time of open seasons, just picked names that stood out IdrA - retired August - retired Nestea - WCS AM Premier LiveForever - retired Maka - retired JookTo - retired or maybe a coach for Clarity or something Legalmind - retired, came back briefly, retired again TaeJa - WCS AM Premier Fruitdealer - retired GuineaPig - retired TOP - retired Polt - WCS AM Premier MC - WCS EU Premier Maru - Code S Cella - Acer Coach San - WCS EU Challenger/ASUS ROG Champ TorcH - retired InCa - retired TricKsteR - retired for military, apparently coming back and starting to play again Artosis - Caster/Hearthstone LosirA - teamless TLO - WCS EU Premier Hyperdub - retired Rainbow - retired Check (prime) - retired Yong - retired anypro - retired TheWinD - did anyone pick him up as a coach? ByuN - allegedly streaming again after being MIA Ensnare - retired Genius - WCS EU Premier Gerrard - Prime Coach Clide - KT Coach Zenio - retired HongUn - retired Cezanne - was Team 8 coach, assuming he's still on as a Jin air coach MarineKing - retired but maybe coming back Swagger - active Choya - coach Rain - retired Tassadar - active AcE - retired Kyrix - retired BoxeR - retired/poker Lyn - retired Loner - active Terius - retired Leenock - Code S SuHoSin - on the roster of ST still Sage - active NaDa - retired Sound - retired TheBest - was retired but then appeared in Code A inori - retired finale/duckdeok - retired BanBans - retired Dragon - retired/streamer VINES - active Sen - WCS AM Premier Sleep - Code A eliminated Golden - retired and then came out of retirement and joined Ai Squirtle - Code S YugiOh - retired Bitbybit - retired HayprO - retired sC - retired Ret - WCS EU Premier GuMiho - Code A eliminated July - retired aLive - WCS AM Premier Hack - Code A eliminated Seal - retired Moon - retired Jinr - retired Mvp - WCS EU Premier AnNyeong - retired (?) so if I looked correctly I think Maru is the only open season 1 player currently in Code S. I may have missed someone but I didn't see Leenock or Squirtle until season 2 and 3. There are a couple of players still in premier leagues in other regions

Did not see this coming. Congrats San on the 4-0 against Dear, looks like Taeja was right. San best player KR!

Could be, I think I'm mixing it up with the Nestea spine caller rush on the FFE.

Clide retired didn't he?
I thought I remember a news thing about him not coaching KT anymore

Wow. Despite losing some passion recently, I'm really happy to see ManZenith take this. I don't think he's ever won a biggish tournament before has he? Could be wrong but yeh. To go 3-0,3-0 and 4-0 to the title is awesome.

There was a sho period of time where he was considered the best protoss out there. However he did not overcome MC who took the overall tournament.
After that san never made a big splash again suntil recently his performance in IEM.
He is someone who played as a pro for years without having any results and thats admirable.

The group where "he lost his games all fast" was against InCa and MC, considered best PvPers at the time. He did not get to play NaDa. Just for the record.
