I can't wait to see Major Incontrol and Illusion play! I don't really care about Scarlet IMO she is a a step above these players.

With any luck, you'll convince MLG not to do any more SC2

Scarlett so pretty on that pic :3 (and on Liquidpedia)

Illusion has surprised me so far.

The games have been pretty good. But I really don't like Destiny, and really wish he would disappear from the community....I know this isn't the place to rant about it. But for MLG if they see this just know if you want to improve casting get rid of him. Bring back Slav and Toss <3.

I like Destiny and Catz because they are entertaining but not the most professional, anyways this is off topic and wow that was a very surprising game, I didn't expect that.

Scarlett is just warming up

I love you Catz and Destiny! No srsly 4 real

I thought she had a big lead after killing those SCVs.

Wow complete game by Illusion. Nice multi task, macro, and micro.

Yeah, me too I wasn't sure how he would play. But, we can tell hes been practicing his TvZ a lot.

That Muta/Bling style is so precarious.
|
That was unexpected. Good game from Illusion.
InControl vs Major next!
|
Scarlett will still make it out, imo. InControl will lose all 4 maps and afterwards... another ZvT for her
|
seems like that muta ling bling style has been figured out, terrans know to do dmg early and rush 3-3 and it's over

Time for godmode Incontrol.

How where the first games? Did not expect Illusion to beat Scarlett at all, and after watching JD get stomped by Dayshi and MMA earlier...are terrans figuring out how to stop muta/bane/ling?
|
One of my best memories from WoL is the time where MLG poolplay was completely fucked and incontrol was still seeded. Major came out of the open brackets, incontrol did a one base voidray all-in, major a rax-cc-3rax, held the all-in and just kept expanding till like a 4-5 base while holding with his 3 raxes. So much fun.

I'm honestly not very optimistic about her chances now, she will likely have to survive Incontrol's cheeses and then either a rematch with Illusion or Major's mech, both of which are probably likely to beat her.
It will be interesting to see how zergs adapt to this.

I think part of the problem is that players stick on it for too long without transitioning to ultras or infestors. Once thors start coming out it's harder to make it work, and you kind of have to make the terran make marauders

It seems like incorporating earlier Thors and forcing trades to keep the muta count down is how to counter the very heavy muta play of players like JD and Scarlett. This sounds a lot like Scarlett's predictability getting scouted and exploited by Illusion. I could see zergs going for lower muta counts and faster ultras if this becomes the norm in TvZ.

I know they say it can't be fixed, but the low audio is really a shame. Other than that, thoroughly enjoying this small tournament

losing to the NA players is pretty rare and this already includes the Illusion match. He's the first person from NA to 2-0 her in a tournament. So I don't agree that she's either beating Koreans or losing to nobodies as her two performance modes. People have occasional slip ups

She's always either completely on point and beating koreans or losing to random NA nobodys. vs Canada: In these games, Scarlett is 34–5 (87.18%) in games and 16–1 (94.12%) in matches. vs USA: In these games, Scarlett is 80–21 (79.21%) in games and 36–4 (90.00%) in matches. vs Mexico: In these games, Scarlett is 5–1 (83.33%) in games and 2–0 (100.00%) in matches. losing to the NA players is pretty rare and this already includes the Illusion match. He's the first person from NA to 2-0 her in a tournament. So I don't agree that she's either beating Koreans or losing to nobodies as her two performance modes. People have occasional slip ups Hitman's win was not a slip up, it was destiny

Holy shit. But Scarlett's ZvP Late game plan seems rather odd :-P But there's still a chance... InControl can't win a Bo3 against Scarlett... he just... can't :o

Catz is sooo happy :D! Good game by Incontrol!
|
That was actually really impressive play by Incontrol. Normally I feel like incontrol gets too caught up in trying to do something tricky then fucks it up and that's why he loses, but that whole time he just reacted to what he saw, stayed calm and played really well.

Scarlett certainly made a few key mistakes there too. She didn't take out the proxy pylon that sniped at least one of her hatcheries with zealots runbys, she didn't make any spores or spines to stop the dark templar harass, etc.
Really glad to see iNcontroL taking that win

The most annoying part would have been all the stupid trolls crawling out of the woodwork, TL is always unbearable for weeks after a big name player loses in a bad way.

Well, he kinda has to be over-aggressive. Scarlett is the better player overall, Illusion absolutely can't let Scarlett rest for a few minutes or he's just screwed, imo. It worked out twice, didn't work once so far... lets see what's happening next :-P

Well, I hate to armchair coach, but it was a shame when he lost those two cloaked banshees. He could have done a lot of extra harass damage with them.
Of course, missing the drone stack with his hellions also was unfortunate

If Scarlett wins and gets out of the group over Illusion it's going to make me hate 4 player groups even more. I really don't like that two players can play each other twice, and the person who won the first set can still not make it out because of the second set. ttttttttttttttttttt

Well, Scarlett won 2 Bo3s, and Illusion only won 1 Bo3. Since they aren't tied in that sense, head to head shouldn't matter

I try to think of it in terms of the entire set of matches for the bracket, rather than just looking at two players' head-to-head in a vacuum. There may very well always be small oddities when looking at a fraction of the bracket, but the bigger picture usually provides more context

I really don't like that two players can play each other twice, and the person who won the first set can still not make it out because of the second set. ttttttttttttttttttt Well, Scarlett won 2 Bo3s, and Illusion only won 1 Bo3. Since they aren't tied in that sense, head to head shouldn't matter It does feel kind of strange though when someone loses 2-0, then wins 2-1 in the rematch, and advances with 2-3 score over the other player. I understand the other guy didn't win enough Bo3, which is the point, but it still strikes me as somehow wrong. that's how playoff series work in any sport though. there's a famous world series (1961?) where the pittsburgh pirates won four games out of seven by like one or two runs each but the yankees blew them out of the water for the other three games
the bottom line is, the rules of the sport mean you have to complete a match! winning a map doesn't mean you "deserve" anything unless the rules say it's a bo1

Round Robin is a much better system, which is used in most other sports and where people are actually comparable to eachother, becuase they play the same opponents. But in Starcraft people seem to favor this system and I still am not sure why.

The main page feature description notes this as a career defining match..

I figured it was about being up a game.
