I try to think of it in terms of the entire set of matches for the bracket, rather than just looking at two players' head-to-head in a vacuum. There may very well always be small oddities when looking at a fraction of the bracket, but the bigger picture usually provides more context | ||

I understand the other guy didn't win enough Bo3, which is the point, but it still strikes me as somehow wrong. that's how playoff series work in any sport though. there's a famous world series (1961?) where the pittsburgh pirates won four games out of seven by like one or two runs each but the yankees blew them out of the water for the other three games the bottom line is, the rules of the sport mean you have to complete a match! winning a map doesn't mean you "deserve" anything unless the rules say it's a bo1 ![]() | ||

Round Robin is a much better system, which is used in most other sports and where people are actually comparable to eachother, becuase they play the same opponents. But in Starcraft people seem to favor this system and I still am not sure why. | ||
