Possibly didn't have the energy, and/or just used mule or used mule because money is important to make things to not die.
He scanned ~a minute(?) afterwards and saw a late council so he figured out there was something up econwise.

It seems to me that this fast 3rd counter any 3 rax follow up to reaper expo or CC first into more rax. I guess u need factory starport play for harassment to combat this - maybe with a fast 3rd yourself. It seems that with regular rax bio openings your just bound to be behind against this style.

Because if you are going to scan for a third everytime you get your SCV-denied you will waste a scan in 19 out of 20 games. Imagine the payback of that in the long run...

The only thing I could think of as a counter with the 3rax thing is poking at the natural to draw out overcharge, then pulling 5-10 scvs and killing the third while taking your own.
But i'm not sure if that's practical, since Terran doesn't get MSC or Sentries ;o
