Diestar Diestar is a Terran player currently playing for Millenium. From the beginning of Starcraft II, Diestar has always been one of the major Polish player, winning the ESL Pro Series Poland and participating to many international events.
Hello Diestar. NationWars has always been an important objective for Poland in several games. What does this tournament represent for you?
Hello everybody. I think NationWars will be a very interesting tournament, I think it will be the first tournament like this, where countries fight each other on Starcraft II. I really like it and I have waited for it for a long time !
What would you bring to the polish roster?
I would like to be a part of Polish squad because I am the best polish Terran and it should be T+Z+P in every nation. In this case, the choice about Terran in Poland is clear !
What team would be the worst opponent for Poland according to you?
The most difficult matches for Poland will be against Sweden and Germany because they have extremely strong players. I cannot wait this tournament and I hope I will be playing there.
MaNa The Polish from Mousesports is one of the most appreciated players, by both players and the community. In addition to being nice, the Protoss is a fierce player who already has an impressive list of achievements : winning Electronic Sports World Cup 2012 and 2012 DreamHack Open: Summer, getting the silver at Electronic Sports World Cup 2011, etc.
Hi MaNa, what do you expect from the Polish squad during this NationWars?
Since this is an all-kill format, I don't expect us to go less than top3. Sweden, Ukraine and Spain with Lucifron/VortiX might be the hardest threats for us. However, Poland has always been one of the best - if not the best - nation in nation leagues, so I hope we will not disappoint.
What team do you want to face in first round?
It doesn't matter, I would like to play against every single nation and win the match.
Among the group of 5 pre-selected players, do you know well each other and does a mutual aid exist?
I cannot say we know well each other. I have the most experience with Nerchio since we were many times at the same events. Also, there has never been a mutual aid due to Nerchio and me being opponents in tournaments very often.
Nerchio In 2012, Nerchio won many international tournaments such as HomeStory Cup V and DreamHack Open: Bucharest 2012 and has become a famous player able to eliminate any player. The Acer player is considered as one of the best European players and his experience could be very useful for his country.
Is Poland one of the favourite nation to win the tournament?
Yes, it is definitely one of the favourites to win but all the line ups will be really strong so I am not confident about our win.
What are the strengths of Poland?
Our strenght is having top tier players that participated around the world in international tournaments and also taking some trophies home so we are experienced.
What is the weakest country?
It's hard to call what is the weakest country because it will mostly depend on the match-ups and the skill on the day.
Romson Romson is a scary online Protoss who is currently teamless in spite of a great humor. His tailored builds often carries him till the last rounds of many online competitions and let people think he has a huge potential to help Poland in NationWars.
It represents the struggle of nations, the collective effort to show that your country is the best, even if only among the foreigners. It is our starcraft national league... our paraolympics.
What can you bring to the Polish roster?
Chips and soft drinks.
What team should win the NationWars according to you?
TEAM USA
Tefel Tefel is one of the most active players on the European scene. In 2013, he has reached the WCS Premier League and stands as a reliable player with regular and good performances.
Hi Tefel, how important is this tournament for you?
Hello everybody, I really want to represent Poland because it is a huge honor. I remember the times when i represented Poland in Broodwar... It was great time for me and I want to live it again.
Why should people choose you?
I will do my best and won't let Poland lose.
Which country do you want to play at first round?
Our first opponent might be Germany because they are our neighbours.
AlaStOr AlaStOr just joined the Russian team Vega after having travelled in the whole Europe. This Zerg player became known to have kept the first rank in the grandmaster league for several weeks and to have reached the third place in the WCS Spain 2012.
Hi AlaStOr, what do you think about the spanish level?
I think we have 2 very very strong players, VortiX and LucifroN. Then, we have some players like Majestic, ToxiC and me at high level, but not as VortiX or LucifroN. I think the Spanish scene needs more good players to keep improving.
How would you qualify your way of playing?
I would say my style is complete. I know how to make many cheeses but I also can play well a macro game.
What country is the weakest one according to you?
The weakest country for me may be Norway. After Targa and Snute, I think they do not have any good players and even this 2 players can be defeated.
LucifroN As one of the best Terrans out of Korea, LucifroN is the eldest of the brotherhood Moreno Durán. The Spanish has been a legend on Warcraft III and keeps winning on StarCraft II thanks to his spectacular style. We all remember the legendary third place he took at WCS Europe 2012 and his experience will be a huge asset for Spain to claim the victory in NationWars.
Hi Lucifron, what are your expectations for Spain?
I think we are able to win the whole thing but it will depend a lot on who we face on the groupstage.
What can you say about the motivation of Spain for NationWars?
We are looking forward to the tournament as this is the first time we recall a NationWars since StarCraft II release.
What is the scariest team?
Since there are only 3 players per nation, the strongest ones are those who have 2/3 very strong players. Keeping this in mind I think Poland, Germany and Sweden (depending on who plays for them) should be the hardest ones, but I don-t think the difference with us is huge so afraid would be an overstatement.
Majestic Majestic is a rising Protoss player. At the age of 16, he has skyrocketed in ladder for the last months to become one of the Spanish hopes thanks to a very aggressive style.
Because I am the youngest in the squad and I am training hard. This oportunity could be really good for me to show my skill to Europe.
How important is your participation in NationWars?
It is really important for me because I think it is the first time I have had the opportunity to show my style and my level to the whole Europe. Moreover, I would like to fight with my mates as Spain National Team.
What team is the favourite country to win NationWars?
I think Spain is the favourite country because we get two of the best players in the world: Lucifron and Vortix. So, I do think Spain is the favourite team.
ToXiC ToXiC who currently plays for Karnage started playing Starcraft 2 during the beta and quickly developed into one of the best Protoss players in Spain. He has proven his value with a number of top finishes in both online and offline tournaments like EPS or LVP. Known for his creative builds , his style could be a perfect add to the Spanish team.
Hi ToXiC, can you explain us why you are in this list of the five best Spanish player?
Hello everybody, I think the main reason is lately I have been making some good results in team leagues with my team and in some Spanish's cups. I am also trainning hard every day to improve my skills and my spanish mates have seen it. In my opinion , I can help a lot this team.
What would you add to the Spanish roster?
Given Lucifron and Vortix will be likely to be in the Spanish roster,we only need a protoss like me ! Spain has two great players, one zerg and one terran. I would like to see a protoss showing up in the next months.
What is your opinion about NationWars?
I actually miss nation wars. At the beggining of WoL, we played a lot of great NationWars, as we did in Broodwar. Then suddenly no one wanted to play more NW and the Spanish team was forgotten. Now with this great Tournament I think NW will be back, so we can enjoy them again. I have high expectations on NationWars and I will do my best for my country. Playing NationWars is the best way to represent your country, which must be a honor to any player.
VortiX Vortix steadily improved on StarCraft II before his reputation rose dramatically as he reached the semi-finals at IEM Season VII - Cologne. Then, he took the second place in WCS Europe 2012 and became one of the most dreaded Zerg in the world. He was recently a threat for any player as a semi-finalist of WCS Europe Season 3 and he could be the silver bullet of the Spanish roster in NationWars.
Hi Vortix, is Spain in a good shape to win the tournament?
We recently showed good performances and I think Spain is definitely one of the favourites for winning the tourmament.
What are the strengths of Spain?
LucifroN and I have a lot of experience competing in high level tournaments and the other three Spanish players are very talented and capable of winning anyone.
Among the group of 5 pre-selected players, do you know well other Spanish players and does a mutual help exist? The Spanish community is very small, but also very united, so we all know each other very well and we help each other with what we can.
Bly Known for his numerous and tailored cheeses, Bly is one of the strongest Zerg in Europe. Playing for team Acer, his style became very famous and it would be exciting to watch how he can deal with his reputation to surprise his opponents.
Hi Bly, what do you think about the Ukraine National Team?
I think we have a pretty strong line-up at the moment. We have a good opportunity in this NationWars.
What can you say to the community to make them vote Bly ?
If u want to see some cheeses, vote BLY !
Do you think Ukraine is of the favourite?
Of course, because I am in Ukraine !
Ukraine
Dimaga The adjective that would be the best to qualify Dimaga’s performance would be astonishing. The Roccat player who reached the semi-finals of 2013 WCS Season 1 Europe is also one of the most sympathetic player in Europe and that’s why he is likely to be one of the foundation of the Ukraine National Team.
In the Ukrainian squad, each player has a different team. Can it be a weakness not to know the other players of the squad very well?
Team does not matter because we all know each other for a long time and we meet a lot in Ladder so I do not think there will be any problem about that.
If you had to pick a country, which one would you choose?
We think we can win anybody. Moreover, if we want to win the tournament, we have to win against each team.
Is Ukraine able to win NationWars?
I think we can do it because we have very strong players.
HappyZerG HappyZerG won several online titles like some ESET Masters Cups and is now ready to show everyone how much he can be impressive. HappyZerG is a solid Zerg able to win any European player. Even if he is not as experienced as other Ukrainian players, he is really able to help his country to win.
According to you, should we bet on Ukraine's victory?
Ukraine's players have always been very strong, so there is definitely a chance that we can win.
What would you add to the Ukraine national team?
I am very unlikely to be picked as other Ukrainian players are much more experienced, but I will do my best to win my matches!
Who is the scariest player in NationWars accordons to you?
It's very hard to choose the scariest player, as all the nations are represented by their best players, everyone is very good!
Kas The different 2013 WCS campaigns were not convincing enough to say Kas is back in shape but the Ukrainian Terran is still one of the best value in Europe and is likely to perform in NationWars thanks to his insane macro.
Last week, your neighbour Poland claimed they are favourite in NationWars. What do you expect from the Polish squad during this NationWars?
Poland is composed by a lot of bad-mannered persons. Every player from the Polish team rage too much except MaNa, who does not look like Polish.
Among the group of 5 pre-selected players, do you know well each other and does a mutual aid exist?
Our country was always doing good in Starcraft, so we travel alot on lan-tournaments together and know eachother pretty well, but we all frorm difference citys , so can see eachother only at tournaments.
Is there any rivalry with another country in NationWars?
I want to meet Sweden and I hope to have a match versus Naniwa. He is such a shitty person, he does not respect no one and I want to punish him for that!
Strelok Strelok is an amazing mecha Terran player. Thanks to his style, he makes a lot of troubles with the whole Europe and could be the key to enable Ukraine to enter in the Hall Of Fame of NationWars.
Is Ukraine one of the favourite nation to win the tournament?
I cannot say Ukraine is the favourite when we talk about names, but we always gave 100% in all kind of sports and won the leagues just cause of teamspirit.
What does NationWars represent for you?
I always liked NationWars and they always meant a lot for me!
What team would be the worst opponent for Ukraine according to you??
I really do not care about our opponents, I just want to show my best!
HeRoMaRinE : HeRoMaRinE is only a sixteen year old Terran and is considered as a hot prospect. This boy is able to show impressive things and has shown all his skills by winning the EPS Germany 2013 in November.
Hi HeRoMaRinE, can you explain why people should vote for you?
I don't really care if you vote for me. You should rather vote the players which are the best german representative for you. Surely I am glad for each vote I can get
What would playing for the National team represent for you?
Of course there only 3 player a country. So it probably would be some pressure since germany wants to win but I would do my best and try to take a lot of wins.
What country do you want to play first?
If I had to choose one team I would pick Norway because they have only good zergs and I like zerg.
Krass : Krass is one of the most underrated Terran in Europe. After reaching the Premier League of WCS Europe, he carried his team NewRoSoft in many team leagues thanks to his spectacular and dynamic style.
Hello, my style is really heavy based on mutlitasking and dropping, lately I have tried to combine it with a solid lategame transition.
What are you able to bring to German National Team?
I think I can surprise most of my opponents with interesting and different strategies.
What is the best nation in NationWars? As for the best nation: I'm not quite up to date, but Ukraine, Russia, Sweden are probably the strongest.
Socke : Socke is a historical member of Germany National Team. He has an international experience which can transcend Germany and he has always been one of the major German player, winning three ESL Pro Series Germany in his career and reaching semi-finals of IEM Katowice, Cologne and 2010 MLG Raleigh.
Is Germany one of the favourite nation to win NationWars?
I think Germany has good chances in NationWars and it would be even better if there were more players/lifes allowed.
Who will be the MVP of NationWars?
It may be Naniwa or VortiX, because the latter has to carry his country to win the tournament.
What would be the best German team according to you?
Socke, HeRoMaRinE, TLO to have all races.
ShowTime : The Protoss Showtime is also very underrated. After having eliminated MVP from WCS Europe, the Protoss is steadily in the top 10 of Grand Master League on a barcode account and could be the revelation of NationWars.
Hi Showtime, you are one of the best Protoss in Europe and yet, you are not very famous. How can you explain this discrepancy?
Honestly, I don't play the game to become famous, therefore I don't really care about it too much. I just focus on improving and to get as good as I can possible be. I didn't get the chance to prove myself in a lot of offline tournaments so far, so I guess that might be one of the reasons.
What would you bring to the German roster?
I play Protoss, that should be enough, right?
What is the best country according to you in NationWars?
Considering it is an allkill format, a single top player can make a big difference, so it's not that easy to say, but I would probably go with Sweden. They can be appalling.
TLO : TLO is a Zerg player who impressed a lot at the beginning of 2013. Thanks to his very tailored and creative build orders mainly based on roaches against Terrans, he managed to reach the top 5 of WCS Europe and made the whole Europe dream.
The German scene is doing a lot of their own things, which is great for the local scene. But I wish more players would be stronger involved in the international scene. Especially in Starcraft2 I think it's so great that we have a very global scene
How are the relationships between the NationWars-participating players?
I'm closest with Krass in the team, he's super friendly and a great guy. Always up to practicing! It's nice seeing HeRoMaRinE, I don't interact much with him but always great to see young players coming up in your scene. Socke has been around for so long so it wouldn't be the same without him in the team. I am the happiest about Showtime, he's really underrated and I wish he would stop playing with a barcode in ladder because he's constantly top10 gm but nobody knows!
What is the weakest country according to you?
I think Russia is going to have a hard time, happy is very strong, their 2nd strongest player would be Titan, but after that it's not looking that great. (sorry Russia!)
Naniwa Naniwa is the most famous and the best Swedish player. Known to be the foreigner able to beat Koreans, his gaming style based on a sick macro and tailored build orders is astonishing.
RunA RunA is not the most famous player from Sweden. Playing for Property team, he is yet one of the best Protoss and is able to eliminate any player thanks to his astonishingly tailored build orders. Last year, he competed with toplevel Swedish in Swedish tournaments, he was not a hard pick to complete the roster
Hi RunA, what would you add to the Swedish roster if people vote for you? You guys should know my accomplishment and therefore know I am the best, so I would win a great deal and also I think I am pretty good at boosting my teammates courage.
How would describe your style?
Full autopilot into win is how i usually play.
What would be the worst opponent for the first round according to you?
Norway, you dont wanna be worse than your neighbours and getting a first round with so much pressure would be tough, also their line-up is pretty tight.
Bischu Since Broodwar, Bischu has always performed very well in Nations Wars. He really loves it and this tournament acts as a big motivation for him to reach his best level. He just reached the second place at Svenska E-sportcupen 2013: Göteborg Grand Finals and will be a reliable player for Sweden.
Hi Bischu, can you explain why people should vote for you?
They should vote for me because allkill format is the hometurf for bischubuilds.
What would playing for the National team represent for you?
I've always enjoyed participating in Nation Wars and it's an honor, so I will make sure to prepare thoroughly.
Who will be the MVP of NationWars?
MVP of NationWars will be a swedish player, most likley Naniwa.
MorroW Thorzain is not available because of his studies and Sjow just switched to Protoss. MorroW is the best Terran in Sweden at the moment and performed well in several Swedish tournaments thanks to his new mech style. MorroW's interview : + Show Spoiler +
Morrow was not available for an interview.
Zanster Zanster showed recently an amazing level in online tournaments. The Fnatic player is one of the hot prospect in Europe and performed a lot in online cups in the late 2013 like in several Swedish tournaments. Being the best Swedish Zerg should not be enough for this 16 year old player and he obviously wants to show to Europe how sick he can be.
Happy Happy is a true winning machine. He is often in the very first player on ladder and reached the last grid in WCS Europe 2013 thanks to incredible runs. His micro from Warcraft III is really sick and Russia has a wonderful asset with Happy to win NationWars
Russian scene is really stagnant for a long time already, no new players coming up onto the top of best players pool from Russia, few local tournaments appear, but they have really small attention (also small prize, not the best organization, etc), and there's no plans if they will be done more frequently. In short sentence - the situation in Russian scene is bad.
What would playing for the National team represent for you?
Actually I did not wanted to take part because I do not like team-based tournaments at all. Considering that there are not many possible tournaments for me in January, my manager thought it would be good idea to play there, so, after some time, I agreed.
What is the weakest country according to you?
I think it would be really low mannered to talk in this way, so, I would not comment here.
Livezerg Livezerg is one of the old veteran from Russia and is famous for his very high APM. He has performed well in several tournaments on Starcraft II and his experience would help Russia to face the other countries.
How are the relationships between the NationWars-participating players in Russia?
Titan and Slivko are my good friends. We are playing together, discussing strategies and just talking about the game and other things. I don't know a lot about Happy and Verdi, but i can say that they can play really well.
What is the best country according to you in NationWars?
What an easy question! Of course it's Russia!
sLivko sLivko favors a macro-heavy style that typically involves lots of droning and is also able to surprise his opponents with very powerful and cheesy build orders. Member of the Premier League WCS Europe, he did not manage big runs in 2013. After his semi-finals at the IEM Singapore in 2012, he was considered as one of the top European player and he now aims at a new target with the NationWars.
Why should people vote for you rather than the others?
Because I have the biggest biceps.
TLO thinks that Russia is the weakest country in NationWars. What do you think about it?
TLO is wrong: we can easily win Germany or any other country.
What is the best nation in NationWars according to you?
Russian is better than anyone and we will prove it.
Titan The Russian has been one of the most consistent players since the release of StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm. He has a very good micro and is able to trade his units better than most European players to reach the victory. He shows in WCS 2013 that he is one of the best European players. He really could be the silver bullet of Russian squad.
What would be the best roster for Russia according to you?
ME happy livezerg
Who will be the MVP of NatioWars for you?
The player who most seriously prepare for this tournament
Verdi Verdi may not be the best players in Russia, his profile is very interesting too. Based on experience and intelligent gameplay, Verdi has a great experience of Europe thanks to his numerous travels in the different European teams and plays also in Premier League WCS Europe.
Hi Verdi, what are your expectations for the Russian squad in NationWars?
As a lot players in Europe quite close about their skills, I think any team can show good results and win this tournament. For Russia its good opportunity starting to back old-glory times , when it was leader of EU RTS-scene . With on-line beast Happy in line-up , we would show what we reached since sc2-release.
Can you explain us why we should vote for you?
For Russian squad, it would not be any better choice than picking me as the voted player in this tournament. I feel responsible for team-leagues since Warcraft3, where I dominated with teams such as RAGE and nGt. In Starcraft2, I have always shown good map-scores at team-leagues since eSahara, where I played against Koreans. I was not as good as now at individual matches, but still had to win very best players. Than I had good runs as legionaire of team Karont3 (with Vortix and Lucifron). Now 2 years behind of serious trainings, and I backed in Big-team Vega Squadron. My results at individual leagues for last years means something, and experience in team-leagues pretty solid. Very last result include no-lose on EES Group stage, where we were faced against: Mouz , coL, aAa . So i think the experience and real desire to play in NationWars, the reasons why you should vote on me, and see the Russia at very deep run in this tournament.
What country do you want to face for the first round?
I would face against Spain in first round , i like to play against Durán's Brother's , as I count them the most skilled players in EU , to win means a big deal for me . I wish the best luck to all teams, and prepared to see big and interesting battles !
Chubz Since this summer, Chubz has skyrocketed. This Protoss trains very hard in the Alien Invasion gaming house, often shows good results online and became the third French player to win a Zotac Cup thanks to his style full of cheeses and surprises. He is in the French list thanks to a victory over MarineLorD in the last UnderDogs and is able to cheese any player in Europe.
Is France one of the favourite nation to win NationWars?
I do not think that France is one of the favourite nation to win since the Ukraine/Sweden line up is pretty scary nonetheless I still think that if ToD and Dayshi are in a good shape we have a shot to win.
Why should people vote for Chubz?
Since I do not have many chance to prove myself in big tournament, I think it would be interresting to give me a chance, also protoss is really good in KOTH format.
What would be the best French team according to you?
Dayshi, ToD and me !
Dayshi Dayshi may be the best French player. Working hard in the Millenium gaming house, the solid Terran is one of the top player in Europe and has a very good experience in all kill format thanks to the several Millenium's campaigns. Every Zerg in Europe should be afraid of him : his TvZ is monstrous.
According to you, what is the level of France among the nations in NationWars?
I think I am the best French player. I feel a huge motivation to show that France has still a very high level without Stephano.
What would be the best French team ?
France has a good opportunity to win if ToD, NeOAnGeL and me are selected.
Who is the best player in NationWars according to you?
It is difficult to decide between Naniwa and Vortix. They are the two best players.
Downfall Downfall is a very good and regular Terran. Grand Master for 10 seasons in a row, Downfall has shown a very high level and a very interesting vision of Starcraft II by winning UnderDogs and crushed Firecake to be in the French list. He is also known as TheDwf on teamliquid and leads a very good thread to teach Terran the right way of playing Starcraft II.
Hi Downfall, can you tell us more about your style?
Hello. I'm adaptable, so I can play several kinds of styles. Style-wise, I would say my play looks a bit like Maru's one—alas without the corresponding skill. ;( At any rate I'm an active sort of player, so at least my games should be entertaining to watch.
What are you able to bring to French National Team?
I would give my very best since it would be my first opportunity to play an international event with a big audience and make myself a bit known. Since I'm also off the radar compared with other players, I may be full of surprises.
What is the best nation in NationWars?
Unsure, the strongest ones seem to be roughly even. Perhaps Poland or Russia.
NeOAnGeL Patience, accuracy and experience have carried NeOAnGeL till the UnderDogs's final. Despite his lack of training, the Protoss never had as many good performances as now. His chances to be chosen are quite high thanks to the aAa's fanbase and all the people who can remember his semi-finals at Electronic Sports World Cup 2012
ToD ToD is a Protoss player and a ESL caster who is currently playing for XMG. Known as one of the best Warcraft III player, the French player first disappointed a little on Starcraft II even if he remains one of the best Protoss in Europe. Then, his new career in casting gave him a new interest and the player never seemed as strong as now. France has to trust him to win since Stephano's departure.
Eiki After having won NM SpillExpo 2013, Eiki can boast he is the National champion in Norway. This protoss is the best player of the rising team Karnage eSports and is able to show very interesting things. Always good at online competitions and in ladder, Eiki could surprise a lot in this NationWars.
People should vote for me because I'm the national champion, and I will do my best to represent my country.
What would playing for the National team represent for you?
Playing for the national team would give me a unique opportunity to play not only for myself or my team, but for my nation. It's something I've wanted to do for a long time, and this is my chance to realise that dream.
Who will be the MVP of NationWars according to you? The MVP of NationWars will be Vortix for team Spain.
Prebs Present in the main Norwegian tournaments, Prebs is now aspiring to rule the world. His team –ROOT – is one of the most accomplished teams on Starcraft II and the Zerg will desire to show he deserves to be one of their players.
I always perform my very best in tournaments and I know I can knock out the best of the best on a good day. I'm especially confident in ZvT and I know I bring a lot to the norwegian roster in atleast that matchup! Also if I get top 3 in the poll, I'll definitely practice like a maniac to improve my skill!
You recently joined ROOT. How does it help you to be better?
Joining the ROOT academy has helped in many ways. First of all I get good teammates to practice and talk strategies with. Second of all I experienced a huge boost in motivation, because Starcraft just seemed a lot more fun when you have so active teammates. The last thing is the chance to get promoted to the main squad, which really makes me focus on improving, and not just playing games for fun!
What's your favourite team except Norway in this NationWars?
The other favorite team is probably the German one. I think the teams are actually pretty equal in skill, but the german one is probably the best with a TLO in shape.
Snitchables Currently playing for Nuit Blanche, Snitchables is a very skilled zerg player. Neither famous, neither one of the top player in Europe, Snitchables remains a good player capable of killing any Protoss thanks to a very good master of macro-game.
I think people should pick me because im the most logical choice after snute and targa, in my opinion . I do think of myself as the best player in Norway after them, and I think I will be a very valuable addition to the Norwegian team.
What can NationWars represent for you?
Nationwars is going to be a great way to show off just how good norway is at starcraft, and also a way to get your name out there.
What is the weakest country in NationWars according to you?
I think the weakest country in nationwars is spain, having no players that have ever really shown any real results, aside from vortix, but who seem to have fallen off the rader recently, and not performing very well at all.
Snute Snute is one the most amazing and respectable player in Europe. Second at HomeStory Cup VII, winner at HomeStory Cup VI, he shined in many other major tournaments, is the last foreigners to have won a major tournament and seems able to beat any player in the world thanks to his very lovely style. His experience in Proleague and in WCS NA could give to Norway a very good weapon to fight in NationWars.
It's good. We have two Premier league level players and quite a few GMs. It is very zerg-heavy, though.
How are the relationships between the NationWars-participating players?
We've all played each other quite a lot in various Norwegian tournaments. All the players in the top have faced each other on different occasions. We meet at LAN events and are quite chill
What is the weakest country according to you?
I think Ukraine by a bit. All the players there are strong but I don't think any of them excel in an all-kill format.
Targa The Norwegian had a remarkable run to the semi-finals at 2012 DreamHack Open: Valencia and is one of the rare Zergs able to scare all the European players thanks to the very good shape he showed in late 2013.

Let's hope for some hype and good promotion this time. The other Nation War tournaments went all unnoticed and no one really cared, although Nation Wars are awesomeeeeeeeee.

Very sad that the dutch don't have a team, even though our players can certainly rival any other country (Besides korea, but that's the same for every nation)

Not familiar with them? they're responsible for the Iron Squid for Pete's sake. O_O
I have nothing but good things to say about them when it comes to the content they generate for SC2. It's as if they actually listen to some of the stuff I say.
I agree with Huk that Netherlands would do much better than Norway or Spain. France is also questionable but it's a French organization so that makes sense.

The fact they're even doing this when no one else has stepped up to the plate shows us that they have an idea of what they're doing. Start small and go from there. Think of this as a taste test for better things to come. If I were ever going to work for any organizer on this side of the industry. These Frenchies would be right at the top of my list because they have good direction.

It's all-kill format though. Considering this I would rate:
1. Spain 2. Russia (assuming Happy and TitaN playing) 3. Poland 4. Ukraine 5. Germany 6. Sweden (assuming Naniwa doesn't play) 7. France 8. Norway
But with only Bo5 it's quite random and it depends on daily shape and who plays and who not. If the Netherlands was playing, I'd rate them behind Poland perhaps.
Heard this from DeMuslim. He's willing to play for Britain, but weren't invited... He even mentioned which teammates would be good. He sounded very bummed about Britain's lack of an invite.

In time; in time. I think a lot of players (especially the foreigners) would want to compete in something like this. There should be more incentive for them to group together in things like this. We did it in BW and it's amazing it hasn't taken off in SC2 yet.

Yep only 3 players.
So basically France / Sweden / Germany / Ukraine / Russia / Poland / Norway will fight for the 2nd spot after spain? Should've been a bo9 all kill or a 5vs5 proleague format imo.

French had like 4 players in the WCS premier league. There was stephano, ToD, Dayshi and Firecake. So don't seems so questionnable to me. In quality of team I will put the nations in that order for now
Sweden > Russia > Spain >Germany > > France> Poland > Norway >Ukraine
Vortix has shown he is pretty sexy at allkilling in acer teamstory cup so maybe spain will be carried to the top by this man. Lucifron is kind of meeeh atm.
Its gonna be great! I hope it will be a success and will grow bigger.
they could have easily included 12 nations: UK (DeMuslim, Bling, JonnyRecco) Netherlands (Grubby, Ret, Harstem, uThermal?) Denmark (Babyknight, Bunny, Sonder/Storm) Finland (Welmu, Elfi, Naama, Serral?) US (whoever does good in shoutcraft) Canada (Huk, Scarlett, someone else there are enough i just dunno who's best) I just read its supposed to be a "european championship" so - US, Canada. Easier to schedule but for more hype it would be good to include them.
I feel bad to be so excited for an event without any koreans.
To be fair HasuObs beat Socke 3-1 recently in a German competition and is also back-to-back champion of the German EPS tournament. But then again, I work for his team I might be a bit biased here. ^_^

Maybe someone could set up a "lower division" tournament with these 6 countries... Then hoping we get a second tournament the top 2 from here can replace the bottom two from the main tournament
Then it would really feel like some of the World Championships :D
EDIT: looks like someone already set up a US vs Canada event!
ESL had ENC (European Nations Cup) back in WC3 days and it was great. Finland even won it once in 2007 and took the second place in 2008. Let's hope O’Gaming TV will expand their NationWars next time to ENC levels.

Real shame to see this, so many SC2 fans in the UK but no decent events.
Back in 2010/2011 there were nations cup from the mystarcraft community and there actually was an "team-germany" by the leadership of TaKe. I have to admit that i would love to see something like that again but back in those days it wasn`t that much successfull...
I think the choice to take only 8 nations is dictated by the will of make a first try with known players and then, if success is here extend the format to more countries.
Btw last week, Thud had quick words about IS3. He told they were working on it. But from what is didn't told but is suggested there are a lot of things to settle before being sure we will see the official announcement.
I predict Russia against Canada then with Canada winning. But All-Kill Format can go eather way. The All-Kill Format is the only thing in DONT like about all this.
This is awesome! :DD This is just what the foreign scene needs. I really hope this brings hundreds of thousand viewers so they will grow and make the price pool bigger (this way attract the best in each country). This should definetly be bo7 at least. 4-5 players for each team is really needed. With this format (3 players for each country), there's no excuse to invite all EU countries in the future. I dare say most countries can bring 3 players.
Assuming "the best" will participate, I personally rank the countries like so:
1 Germany 2 Sweden 3 Russia 4 France 5 Ukraine 6 Norway 7 Poland 8 Spain
Prize pool shouldn't been in Euros, continental pride and all that Surprised Finland haven't put together a team, could you imagine Elfi, Namma and Welmu on the same team, there'd be no way to prepare against that.
sweden will win, but will be hard, they have a lot of valuable players, especially if nani is playing and if the format would have also GSTL style. Anyhow looking forward to watch this.

Its an european tournament played by european people. Of course it should be in euros, you filthy british are just jealous :D
The reason why I said I'm not sure that Naniwa will participate is because I watch often Ogaming.tv and all of French e-sport (players, casters, Millenium and AaA teams, etc.) hates Naniwa...

I think in Europe everyone can beat everyone depending on daily form. Especially in bo1's.
There are some that got lucky enough and peaked higher to win a tournament but no one is really consistent. Targa is quite good too but you never know how much dota he plays and then you're still missing a decent 3rd player so you only have zerg to fear in norway's line up.
Finland clearly isn't there because Fuzer's charisma would all-kill every team before the matches start.
Seriosly I get the decision. Have to draw the line somewhere and the roster isn't very widespread (but tbh neither is Spain's or Norway's, but they propably draw more viewers).
So we have France, Sweden, Norway, Germany, Spain, Russia, Ukraine and Poland to begin with. I agree with others that it would do good to add more countries to this tournament, including (but not limited to) Finland, Denmark, Netherlands, UK to begin with. Having two divisions would be awesome and two tournaments per year (at least) would make this bigger than WCS EU!
Also, if a 2v2 could be included in the format somehow I would cry out of joy and buy puppies for everyone.
Kas, Bly and probably Dimaga for Ukraine, but overall our players seems like in a bad shape recently. Almost sure that Strelok and White-Ra won't attend.

lol, I actually meant to write 've. Probably the worst place to make a spelling error :S
Of course I like to see koreans but this is also a great idea to see a high level competition without them sometimes, just to see how it goes. I will definitely watch this.
Wow, wow, wow!!! It's really incredible, but I've been thinking about the same idea (how awesome would it be to organise a European team championship) for the past two weeks. The only difference is that I was imagining 5-player teams with at least one representative of each race on a team (a way to make the teams more balanced). But this is super cool anyway!
I also have to agree with the choice of countries - they are the strongest one in Europe at the moment, although on a personal note it would have been great to see the trio from Netherlands (Grubby - Ret - uThermal) take a shot at it
Really hope to see HasuObs, HeRoMaRiNe and ShowTime for Germany; Happy, Slivko and LiveZerg for Russia; Dayshi and Marinelord for France; Nerchio, Mana and Uzer for Poland and, of course, the Duran-Duran for Spain Sweden will be certainly the most difficult choices to make (so many good players behind Naniwa).
For Finland team choice would have been easy/hard. Easy coz so many good players but hard to pick who
We have elfi, Welmu, Serral and Protosser that would have played for team Finland pretty sure. Then we have Naama, Jagelius and Satiini. Remember, they are all at least top100 gm :D after that there are few nontop100 gm also.

If you look at the current voting, this is obviously wrong. Not reasonable to expect the worst out of people in any case anyways.
Tefel just beat Stardust in the IEM qualifiers yesterday. DieStar didn't have any good results for ages. Millenium practically never uses him in teamleagues. So for me the choice seems obvious.

You may have followed the votes and seen Tefel having cumulated more votes than Diestar during the last hours.
First, we noticed a huge rise of votes in favour of Tefel on the last day whereas Diestar was ahead for the whole week.
O'Gaming's staff identified some fake votes due to bots' activity and discovered that some hackers claimed their behaviour on a Polish forum. Dates of votes and these claims meet.
Since we could track the Cheat, it is fair to respect the initial votes, according to the tournament rules. So we performed a new count without these fake votes and we can state that Diestar will play NationWars for Poland.
We want to thank Diestar and Tefel for their profesionalism and their positive attitude faced to this bad situation.

My votes has increased last day because I mobilized everyone who I know to vote on me. I sent many messages to my Starcraft 2 frieds. I've made huge work to reduce that distance. I was sure I am winning so It's event more surprising for me right now!
I just wonder how many "fake" votes was given on diestar? If voting would be hidden I wouldn't stop trying to get new voters. Yesterday OgamingTV decided to make showmatch bo3 to decide who will represent Poland.
Why they change their mind and close voting? I should get a chance so please restore voting. Please give me one more day to mobilise my sc2 fans and friends.

I really love how much you care about your countries representation and i hope that you will get your chance because this is what this tournament SHOULD be all about.
I don`t want to see the three players with the biggest fanbase. I want the three players who care the most about what they represent (and ofc play at a pro level).
To be honest, given how close Diestar and Tefel have been in the poll and because, despite what you say, it's not really possible to filter through *all* of the double (triple and so on) votes, a BO5 between them to fight for the final spot seems like a very good idea. Not only would it be fair towards the players themselves, but if you streamed it, it would serve as a promo for the main tournament itself.

ShoWTimE and Heromarine are the best what Germany has to offer right now, I fear not many people vote for ShoWTimE because he doesn't play very often. He has so few games, yet is so good

I like this. In fact, there should be two matches in my opinion, one between Tefel (18.2%) and Diestar (18.8%) and one between Majestic (13.3%) and Toxic (13.1%). These two pairs have really received an equal amount of votes. Fiddling with decimals of the same percentage... come on, surely you don't want that? If you want to separate them, let them play! More goodies for us viewers!
I think a BO5 between two players that have less than 1-2% difference would be a good idea too. 0,5% means nothing at this point. It's pretty much the same amount of people that voted.
Anyway, I can't vote for the new polls. When I fill the captcha, I get a blank page with "File not found." :/
Is it a joke? How can you even compare Krass with HasuObs. Hasu is the winner of 3 EPS Germany, he just got 3rd in the Fragbite Masters. The list of his individual achievements and team titles would take a whole page. Just can't understand that... Did he decide not to paticipate or the organisers are just that stupid?
HasuObs probably declined the invitation. I can't think of another reason. Especially given that the O'Gaming guys know Hasu very well, they invited him to come to Paris with ThorZaIN, Adel and MoMaN for O'Gaming 2.
Totally agree with Leviance regarding the German squad.
As for Ukraine Kas is the strongest Ukrainian at the moment, posting a number of great results. HappyZerg is one of the most dangerous players in team league formats and his style hasn't been studied that much. Would love to see him and Bly go through. Unfortunately Dimaga and particularly Strelok have been too inconsistent lately.

Unfortunately you are right concerning Dimaga being very inconsistent lately, but I just cannot not vote for him, such an awesome guy!
Voting doesn't work for me right now. As for the german team you have to vote for ShoWTimE! In my opinion he is the best player in germany right now and will probably win EPS on sunday (i think). Heromarine seems to be a solid terran but i prefer Krass because of his playstyle even though he is arguably the weaker player. Unfortunately TLO is pretty much guaranteed to get a spot because of his popularity so we just have to hope that he doesn't choke like he always does. Didn't hear a lot about Socke recently...

The initial idea of the tournament was to have the best players represent their countries. Without Hasu it's clear that this goal won't be achieved ((( Really mad about the organisers' choice.

I suppose it is difficult to make everyone happy without having a national championship first, deciding the top three of each country through tournament instead of through voting.

What makes you think that is the initial idea? Public voting for players suggests that the idea is to have the most popular players represent their countries.

Which in any case would put Hasu into the pool, since he is one of the strongest and most popular players. Really sad, he is not in the pool.

Well on Sunday the german national championship (EPS) takes place, and Socke, HeroMarine, ShowTime AND Hasu are in it. So at least these 4 players should have been selected for voting. Can't really believe that they didn't even ask him, but if Aonir said it it is the truth (she is hasus girlfriend). Hugely disappointed by this
Personally i'll wait for the results of EPS until voting. Find more information on the EPS here: http://www.eslproseries.de/
Agree with the general opinion here, not inviting Hasu is a reall big mistake here, he is the current and record (shared with Socke) EPS-champion, his 2013 earnings double the ones of every other german besides TLO, he just recently got 3rd in FB Masters, taking down 3 koreans...
Showtime, Socke and Heromarine it is for me in this case, but O´Gaming should really think about setting up a second vote with Hasu for the further series, as soon as the other countires votes are finished and there is time for it.
On December 14 2013 19:17 TheOneAboveU wrote: Why are you voting for TLO, he never gave a shit about the german scene.
I hope he takes this tournament seriously and doesn't repeat this crap with his EPS forfeit just to get more international e-fame... As soon as there will be some sort of Liquid teamleague messing with his schedule he will probably forfeit his games, while it would be meaningful for other players to represent their country.
O'GamingTv chose Community Votes as a way to select the Best Players.
The absence of Current National Selector (as you would find in other sports and Disciplines) encouraged us to give the choice to local communities,
That now Better their own players. We have contacted single Top Europe player to participate in NationWars, if a Player / county seems missing, it is mainly because of Players Agenda issues.
If this edition is a success we will be happy to provide with additionnal editions.
National qualification through a Championship would be a clean way to Select the Lineup, we'll definitely consider this option for Future editions, but it was too massive to organize for this first Edition. Thanks for participating in the Votes, we hope you'll have a great time Watching this Show ! Casters wil be announced soon, stay tuned

But now everyone can vote, not just local communities. Otherwise Tefel would most likely take Poland's third spot instead of Millenium's DieStar and HasuObs would surely be one of Germany's prime candidates.
The idea to make such tournament is great but there is already some bad blood due to the system.

He's trying to say "if he isn't in the list, that's probably because he can't attend the tourney". Check with hasu on twitter if you want.

According to liquipedia, Tefel and Diestar are going to battle it out in a Bo3, so I don't know why people are still complaining about that. You claim that Poland would have voted Tefel, but can you back this up with some sort of evidence?

So it seems liquipedia knows better than organizers and involved players, all of whom claim that DieStar is official third player in the Polish roster.
Yes, I said that it would most likely prefer Tefel after reading Polish forums. Local community which was supposed to be given the choice knows that only in December Tefel beat DieStar 2:0, 3:0 in fan4fan and 2:1 in ESL Pro Series Poland VII.
So Tefel is 7:1 vs DieStar in their most recent official matches.
Also Tefel (and user who wasn't even on list) made some impact in WCS Europe while DieStar made none.

Well, you seem to be correct about there being no Bo3, the information has been changed on liquipedia now. I can't read French very well, so I couldn't find any information about it on the official web site. This is disappointing. I would much have preferred to have a deciding Bo3 between them, since the vote was practically a draw (just like in the Spanish poll). Luckily it doesn't look like there will be a draw in the German / Ukrainian polls at least.
Local communities can and have voted, but not exclusively for their own team. I would imagine though that Polish community cares more about voting for the Polish players than for example the Canadian starcraft community, but if DieStar has gained a lot of popularity and support outside Poland, and his fans have taken the time to vote for him, is that a bad thing? Would you suggest an exclusive poll only open to people with proven Polish citizenship? That seems a bit unpractical to me.
Technical things aside, stating that there is a preference for Tefel in Polish forums is not really, in my opinion, a strong case against the poll that was already done. I'm not saying you are wrong, but that is your opinion and not the result of a second poll or something like that. A second poll when there is a draw (like within the same percentage) could very well be the second best solution (after a deciding match).
I fully understand that the organizer couldn't launch national qualification tournaments the first time they organize this. I hope this tournament becomes a huge success and that the next one will have more national teams and national qualifications too.

Sorry I wasn't able to update the liquipedia page yet.
People should notice that TLO is on the same level than players like Hasu or Socke and stop bringing that "2013 earnings" argument. The point is that those two mainly play EPS or lower skilled tournaments and they get their earnings from these games.
TLO is more of a global guy in a totally global game. Why should he be fined for that? He never did anything bad for the german scene but always had a mindship that he doesn`t care about different countries or people because everyone is the same.
Must have been some exchange with words before that. NaNi's got like half the euro ladder on ignore in general Kas have tweeted a lot of dislike/hate ever since.
Voted for Kas in this NationWar though, he is the best Ukraine Terran and he is always funny.
This is an outrage ! As the European community can select players who will represent Russia ? All Russian Commune raises three players this : Happy, Titan and VERDI ( his current nickname weak). Slivka very weak player at the moment and not active enough , and Verdi wins players like Nercho, Vortix, Solar , Trap, Jjakji. Event organizers acted incompetently , giving players the opportunity to choose from different countries , citizens who are not in this country ( would limit ip)! Verdi (weak) is stronger than Titan ! Russian Commune in anger against such a vote. To confirm my words can visit Russian lingual portals GoodGame.ru, Sk2TV!
Slivko weaker Verdi, I'll provide a link to Russian-language sites, where you can go and personally make sure that all the votes for the Russian Commune VERDI (weak). Slivko yet unworthy to represent our country at this action if he was good, there would be no such comments, but objectively speaking, cream weaker Livezerg. Verdi and LZ just not as popular as in European Community and it is outrageous that the European Community place for Russian selects the community!

it's the same for each country, stop complaining about it
Would have no complaints if there were competent people in other countries! So the best thing, it would be a vote to ban people from outside this country ip
Okay i'll be jumping in right there. So, basically, everything has been done to ; for the 1st time in ages having a fun Nation war tournament and thinking deeply on how it would be done, so the tournament would go smoothly, all nations would be well represented, and the community feels a part of it.
So now, I'll admit, mistakes might have been made, but still, I cant believe how ungrateful some people sound. Yes, you won't get your exact wishes all the time without being involved in the project guys. That's like common sense. Keep in mind this is the 1st edition and thing might be better in an hypothetic 2nd edition. But having people crapping around it for random reasons doesn't help at all.
I hope you'll enjoy the tournament never the less.

TitaN has proved he was worthy to be a good competitor. 2012 WCS Russia 2013 WCS EU Premier league top 12. And many more.
All Verdi has proved is that he is quite the BM guy.
So just for the record: if germany loses its all because you couldnt vote for hasuobs because he wasnt asked to participate. (3x german champion over krass who competes very sporadically in small tournaments)
Just to get that out there. We already have an excuse.

My pick this week : France : ToD,Dayshi (obligatory) and downfall ( i don't know who chubz is and neo is a prick ) Norway : Snute,TargA (obligatory ) and snitchtable because he had a funny name (and i had no fucking ideas who the other Norwegians were )
And good luck to Downfall (aka TheDwf)! I agree with shid0x that after Dayshi and ToD he's the best option and his vicotry in the Underdogs Season 3 where he managed to beat both NeOAnGeL and chubz speaks in his favour.
vote for Downfall cause we need a black player for once -_- he's pretty good even
for those that doesn't know, the P&T team organized the underdogs tournament specifically for the lesser known french players i usually despise lower skill of play, and i stayed far from the french scene for a while, i usually never go to millenium or ogaming to watch sc2 but the french rising talents surprised me on this one, i wish we could have all of them to represent france in the nation wars i wish P&T would have allowed the choice of MarineLorD, Jeysen, FireCake or NeOAnGeL over Tod because of what they showed during underdogs (i haven't seen tod play in a pretty long time) sucks for marinelord especially, but i guess he didn't deserve it (gotta learn to go for longer games)

While I agree, that especially Firecake and Marinelord could have made an impact, I don´t think, that it should have been at the expense of ToD. Keep in mind, that he was (after Stephano ofc.) the frenchman with the most WCS points and that he was half a game away (forced draw with much bigger army) from 4-1ing a group with MC, Jjakji and Happy. I think ToD is a must-have on the french roster atm.
However, without MLord/Firecake the choice is pretty easy (ToD, Dayshi and our fellow forum member Dwf), so I don´t mind it to much. (And Snute/TargA/Eiki for Norway seems kinda obvious, too)

NaNiwa is pulling out of the tournament, though it has nothing to do with OgamingTV of any sort, its more of a internal Swedish thing that you can read here and here in Swedish language.
As far as I can understand it's about all the shit he's got yesterday and today by a part of the Swedish community revolving around the ThorZaIN drama and some other things.
Whether it's a good decision or not I'm leaving up to you.

Retarded that Maddelisk talks about bullying while her posting in the BIGGEST SWEDISH NEWSPAPER defending Mini who is not only a known BM'er, but also very much not top 5 Swedish, especially not top 3 player, can be considered bullying itself. GG NaNi, you did nothing wrong.
Props to poland, germany, sweden and russia for having one player of each race. Imo, it would be nice if Take could invite all three German players to play from his place and cast some games when they're not playing.
Very disappointing, Sweden will be very lucky to make it to the playoffs now.. Germany, Ukraine and Russia look like the strongest and most balanced teams to me, though Norway is definitely capable of pulling an upset as well.
I'm so looking forward to this! Go Team Sweden!! Germany, you're going down, you hear!? We shall drop Thors on Brandenburger Tor!
