Excellent, Totalbiscuit. This is one of the first times I've seen a clearly and well stated set of "residency" requirements as well as the underlying reason for them and full cognizance of visa issues from both a sponsor and tournament organizer.

+ Show Spoiler +
Then again, I imagine you know more than you want to about visas from your own trials and tribulations.

Also, making the ladder relevant again. For at least awhile.

Thanks to you and your lovely sponsor Ting. Whom I have no idea who they are, but I will find out because they are helping you to Shoutcraft.
Yes, I email sponsors... to thank them. Don't post drunk, kids. My king, what has become of you?

Thank you... After Genna's retirement I abandoned all hope of another Shoutcraft. I believe again.
Hasn't Kane already moved to the myinsanity team house in Europe? Guess there's an exeption from the residency rule for the defending champion? Makes sense.
The point of quotations is that one can use another's words to be insulting.

OMG. NA ladder is going to be sooooo competitive for the next month and that is what matters the most. Thank you so much TB, you know what matters and you work so hard to make a difference.

There's not a residency rule, there is a citizenship rule. Those temporarily out of the country can still play as long as they ladder in the right place.

Thanks. I misinterpreted this:

Can non-continental Americas players participate?
A: Only if they can provide proof of a valid work visa or permanent residency status during the period of the competition.

This is awesome! NA needs more tournaments!
But yeah being a Korean gamer is very imba. If you're a non-korean gamer you have to balance your game playing with earning money and your real life. If you're Korean you just sit around playing games all day eating 2 cent ramyun and becoming gosu.

So glad to see the first one didn't turn out to be a one-shot tournament. I understand that you probably havn't made plans that far, but I'd love to see Shoutcraft AM become a semi-regular thing.

As for maps: While it is ladder qualification, shouldn't they use mostly ladder maps?

However, lets be real for a moment: how is it that the creative culture uses a less creative map pool than south korea's Kespa did? I think we need to ask ourselves whether we can't show the world that we're able to take a risk or two.

Again, real talk: who didn't love the custom Kespa maps? Who wasn't big enough of a nerd to get excited about them?

This is what I am trying to decide. An argument could be made however that we would see more interesting games and it would be more difficult to learn your opponents builds from running into them on ladder if we were to use non-ladder maps. I'm considering a mix of the two.

A tournament based on ladder with the goal of helping NA talent should, unfortunately, use the ladder maps. Encouraging players to spend time learning maps that won't be part of WCS doesn't seem like the right direction.
