going to have to go with

masa < snute (sorry masa I love you but I haven't seen any games from you in so long I have no choice but to pick snute)
kane < hero
yugioh > zenio
theognis > ret
yugioh < teaja
sage > tlo

ace match don't know who each team would pick but probably either yugioh or sage vs either taeja or hero with root winning because of my fan heart.

Why in the world would someone announce a league the day it starts? One would imagine the viewer numbers will be abysmal for at least a while.

also why does yugiho get to play twice?

From what I understand, you can send one player on your team twice for the first 6 games, and if you send a player twice in the first 6 games you cannot use them in the ace match.

Hmmm. I wonder why they chose to do the two-life the first week instead of exposing the level their players are at.
I used to play random, but for you I play very specifically.

I'm guessing because not all teams have six players, so there is some space for teams to play a player twice. For example Axiom only has four players. Why anyone thought doing a proleague format with multiple teams that lack the players to properly compete in one was a good idea, is beyond me. But maybe it'll work, I guess we will see.

This is so awesome! Really looking forward to the matches specifically Kane vs Hero, Taeja vs Yugioh, and Sage vs TLO. The viewers are the real winners here.

Seriously this. Producers really need to look at how other leagues have used the new interface tools to minimise dead space. This is the worst I've seen in recent memory. Still excited though, its only early days.

We'll definitely change it soon. We were put in a weird place where we had developed a private GameHeart-esque mod which was going to be very simplistic in style, but when the teams requested we use replays (versus live games), we had to go back to the drawing boards in order to fit our sponsor and broadcast needs. We did look at some of the common observer UI options out there, but really didn't like them very much.

Expect a new one within 2-3 weeks.

Agree with the above posters. It feels like I'm watching SC2 through a spyglass. Good to hear it will be addressed.

Are these games played on NA? Could be of a minor advantage for many of the ROOT players.

All good. The overall aesthetic is really nice. Great intro and information screens. Looking forward to seeing the league running at 100%. Music in game and during breaks would be great too.

Hasn't snute learned from his mistake from his last proleague game against fantasy? You need vipers against tank. Pure roaches dont work.

LOVE the team sponsors in the overlay, both in transition screen and in game. Good job.

However, not a fan of traditional UI with the overlay. I guess I've been spoiled by full screen obs UI's.

Edit: Didn't see Lectr's response. Thanks!

Ack I stayed up to watch Snute but that was a huge misread from him. Not sure what he was expecting to get done with the mismatched composition/upgrades. Sad to see him go down so easily.

In the main thread Scarlett posted that Acer vs Mouz happened on May 30th, at least her game happened then. I assume these ones are from a similar time period.

Yeah, it sucks, hopefully they have less than 1 week old replays for future matches.

I love mass phoenix comps, they are so fun!

Kane should have recognized the 2x Stargate and made some infestors to trap phoenix for mutas to have a direct engage with them.

Answer! Because each team can send one player out twice during the initial six matches.

(Most likely because Axiom only has four members... Five if you count the matches that were played before Miya retired, which there are bound to be some.)

One player on your team can play twice in the first 6 matches, but if they play twice in the first 6 matches they cannot play in the ace match. It's basically a rule to allow axiom to compete since they don't have 6 players.

I have a suggestion. I just got into a game while it was at 10 mins ish already into it(ZvZ mirror). I was finding myself having a hard time figuring out which player was which color since there's no indication on the screen. Maybe have the team color somewhere close to the name. Great games/casters so far, keep it up!

Overconfident Zenio. When you see even the SLIGHTEST HINT of an infestor, you need to RUN your mutas away. Not stick around and keep trying to RE-ENGAGE when that fungal only hits 30% of your mutas....

actually yugioh always goes for infestors when his opponent goes mass muta he loves catching large groups of mutalisk and killing them.

in other words it had nothing to do with being behind in mutalisk if he happens to be ahead in muta count he'll give that advantage to hsi opponent if it means he can get infestors out.

Oh my god, that's good to know, puts things in perspective. I guess keeping up-to-date on these players is kinda useless for this tournament until the live finals then.

Oh my god, that's good to know, puts things in perspective. I guess keeping up-to-date on these players is kinda useless for this tournament until the live finals then.

The games are 5 weeks old, but they've stated their goal is within a week of the match happening. I guess the tournament got delayed longer than they expected.

only the first two matches will be old, the 2nd match is 2 weeks old and the rest have not been played yet.

Yea, the first thing I noticed was how small the screen real-estate was. Idk if the aspect ratio is different or what.

"Relative". Depends on who he is comparing theognis to. Compared to HerO or Taeja, yes he is not well known.

You can use a player twice in the first 6 matches. Mostly because Axiom doesn't have enough players.

5 week old replays. Is it that hard to get some more current games when tournament is begging people to buy a product to increase their prize pool? That's the least they can do no? This shit is unethical.

and other teams might find it unfair if Axiom is the only team allowed to do so. Axiom might get to play two players twice depending on how many matches they've played post Miya retirement.

They need to put their sponsors and other relevant info somewhere. The standard UI won't cut it.

I think it'd be embarrassing for TL if Root won... I love Root, but I feel that TL is supposed to be able to beat teams like Root.

MaSa beating Snute is the only real upset so far though, not surprising that YugiOh beat Zenio and Sage beat TLO.

I'm actually surprised they used HerO for the ace... He was chatting with Kane in their game and he just got back to Korea from WCS America Ro16 the day these games were played.

Good casting and matches, my only complaint is the stream overlay seems very large and takes up a lot of the screen.

This was cool. Obviously needs a bit of polish but as a first day I liked it. I might make it my "vods" league because as a UKer I shouldn't really be awake right now.

Really disappointed in Hero. His play seemed scattered and not focused. He is the ace of EGTL, I think he needs to step it up for these team leagues and not embarass TL.

He was jetlagged... The games were played the day he got back to Korea from WCS America Ro16... If you don't believe me watch the first three minutes of HerO vs. Kane, they have a discussion about it.

Well sorry but how on earth can a team be allowed to field the same player in a team vs team game....Root roster is much bigger than just 5 players....Catz himself can still play at a decent level ffs, so stupid.

I hate when things like this happens, it's like someone being able to take a penalty twice in a penalty shoot out in football or sub being subbed being subbed. It just doesn't happen because it is unfair and not how a "team" game works ;_; Especially when the team in question has a roster of 11....

And im not bitching because of the result, fair play to Root for beating TL thats a very good result, but an 11man roster had to field a guy twice :S vs TL who have a 7 man roster with 1 currently AWOL due to his wrist issues, so technically a 6man team who are all in Korea (or the majority) and still managed to field 6 different players ;_;

Indeed another point from Malin, not only was it a player playing twice, it was arguably ROOTs best player playing twice "/

It seems like a very weird decision indeed. Most teams should have deep enough rosters to field 4 players, if not they can take on a mercenary or two like they used to in the past. The way it is, teams can abuse it by basically planning to send their best player twice no matter what.

Anyway, I'm happy to see that Proleague format is catching on. So much easier to watch than all those BO3-per-set team leagues we had in the past.

So sad I missed this! Looked for vods, but apparently Day9's vods are closed to non-subscribers. I understand doing that as a way to monetize Twitch vods (ala itmejp), but I find it incredibly annoying for a tourney. How am I supposed to catch up when the vods are behind a paywall on Day9's twitch, and EGMCSL's vods were week's behind last go around.

SO frustrating. I'm avoiding all spoilers 'til then, but I gotta say that the "revive" rule is weird. I never liked it in Take's team league, and I don't like it here.

Oh well, hopefully the games are as good as I've been hearing.

sadly not there yet, which is a shame. not that there is an extreme time frame on VOD interests, there still is one with so much content/series/tourneys going on these days i and i guess alot of other third shifters would love to watch the previous days event when they get home. i know its the first match but i hope they plan it better in the future with the subscriber only mode on day9s stream.

I agree that the rule with multiple revives is awful, but you can't blame ROOT for playing to win. Shame on TL for not fielding Taeja twice, along with Hero.

If the rule was created to allow teams with small rosters to compete, I'd much rather just have a bo5 with no revives.

I didn't think the "revive" rule worked in this tournament. I have looked for a rule list but i haven't seen any yet. The only thing i see is that this is based on the pro league. U name 5 starters, 1-5 position, hand it in to EG rep/tourney admin, so does the other team then the matches are played like that. Then u announce Ace to an admin and they play vs eachother. How can you "revive" a player in an SPL format team league i don't know!

Indeed after reading Incontrols post on it again, i see nothing where it says about any "revives" and just 1v1 stuff etc

If you want people to watch this you either need a better timeslot OR there need to be Twitch vods and they should be available immediately after the cast is done.

I realize you want clicks on your Youtube channel, but there's no way people are gonna watch this match cut in 6 or 7 different videos.

Edit: Just found out these games are casted from months old replays anyway, so nevermind, not gonna watch that.

Yeah, the longer the wait between broadcasts and VODs is, the more people refuse to care about the league.

Didn't watch, but I noticed players played more than once similar to that silly ATC thing. I'd like to see that rule set lol. I'm really against such a thing. Don't know why you boys didn't go with the old WGTour format like you did with the Masters Cup but whatever.

Good series, I only watched the first 2 matches time zone sucks. Teamleague stuff is more interesting than the WCS NA, because it is really just becoming a korean league, at least this league lets me see some of my favorite players. Should I be surpised root beat liquid?

All these games were 3 weeks old and tlos game were 5 weeks old so this was when Hero just got back from NA for wcs not the finals maybe ro16 and before tlo even started his strict practice regiment and ect I feel like if the games were more recent like palyed today LIquid would take it no problem

It's a shame so many people are basically not going to watch this tournament because of the old replay thing, when it is literally only going to happen this week :/.

I also don't understand all the hate on the revive rule. Two teams wouldn't be able to play without it, and it'd be unfair to other teams to only apply the rule to those two teams.

Fielding the same player twice is unfair in proleague format (disregarding ace match of course). Imagine if KT could field Flash twice every match? It lessens the variety for the matches because then every team would just field their best player twice every time, easier to arrange and more likely to collect points. Teams with rosters that are too small should've been forced to buddy up with another team to enter the league in the first place.

Assuming from now on, the play the games on a week-by-week basis, it should be good enough to keep down the complaints onwards.

awesome format. Normally, we'd have a Taeja all kill, but now we actually get to see which team is the strongest overall.

It's a bit impractical for Axiom to join with Navi or another team as they're Korean-only and communicating and deciding on lineups would be weird.

I suppose they could have gone with Acer as they already have the experience of playing together and there's MMA, but Acer might have wanted their own players to gain exposure that otherwise wouldn't get much play time in Axiom-Acer.

Honestly, I still don't see a huge issue because it strikes a balance between deep line-ups and one ace line-ups. That one player can still only do so much for your team, if KT played Flash twice every match, it would basically be the equivalent of them always being pushed the ace match and running him that way. You don't call bullshit if KT gets pushed to the ace constantly because they get to use Flash again, it seems like a bit of a non-issue to me. You can label it a number of things, but I genuinely don't see how it is "unfair" to anyone since every team has the opportunity to do it.

I'm fine with a balance between the one-man carry of an all-kill format and the inability for one player to dominate with just one match in a proleague format(minus ace). I think it's okay as long as it stays the way it is, so that if a player is used twice, that same player can't be pulled out for the ace match.

TL never forgives

It never forgets

Whenever I play Civ games, I play 1 game for about 2 whole days and then never play it again

Anyone know why 10 minutes before SC2L was supposed to start tonight, the schedule changed and there's now nothing on the schedule for tonight?

They changed the schedule on their website literally 10 minutes before it was supposed to start. http://www.sc2l.gg/Schedule/

I expected Mouz vs Acer last night, really pumped to watch Scarlett play, and it moved to tonight. Whatever, no big deal. But now to cancel it entirely at the very last minute... I'm really getting turned off of this league.
