No, he didn't land in the main, he went back then Tear tried to chase the drop with his whole army, then getting out of position, which led to his Nexus at the natural being sniped. The Voidray wasn't forced at all, Tear chose to build it. I never see Voidrays used as an anti-drop measure as a standard.
