Don't know where else to post this, just wanted to comment I love the ui they are using for WCS NA. You get a much larger viewing area and the supply is in the upper right hand corner where it belongs!

Illusion is one of the only american players who has a chance to advance imo. I'll hope for Illusion + Moonglade, but I think it'll be Alicia + Illusion.

Apologies for the negative vibe from this, but NA looks like a joke. It's almost like Blizzard did this on purpose to insult the North American scene.
Isn't the point of regions to help local players grow their skills by offering attainable financial incentives - i.e. a reason for North American's to invest more time and effort into the game? It looks like this golden opportunity is being cruelly dangled in front of NA, but then an obvious loophole of allowing the Koreans snatches it all away. From what I've seen thus far, it looks like Korea is going to be taking home most of the cash meant for a different region, once again suppressing growth in NA.
I now understand why Total Biscuit is doing Shoutcraft with a true region lock. Sigh

Cute but every region has naturally talented players. I'm sure that the reason 95% of the scene is dominated by Koreans has nothing to do with the fact that everything is centralized in Seoul and young people can make a living/survive off playing a video game.

Maybe the games will get competitive in the RO16, because theres absolutely no wonder WCS EU is getting 2.5x-3x the viewership when their games are actually really good and exciting. WCS NA has been nothing short of horrific waste-of-time stomps and I wonder if the higher-ups ever expected anything different.

Wow that is an unfortunate mistake. Moonglade won that game no contest if he had those ultras. Sad to see him lose against a player like illusion but he still has a game to go.

Illusion's macro is sick. His micro needs a bit of work, especially vs some banelings, but man he is good. Such a great intense game, sad that it ended because of a big moonglade mistake.

Meh, watch the vod later. He has no money at all when he researches 3/3 and he is getting pushed back constantly at the 4th with no drones at it while Illusion mines freely on four bases. He chose not to drop the ultralisk cavern (or even research adrenal glands) on purpose.
A zerg going muta/ling who doesn't pressure terran/have any map presence AT ALL is clearly losing badly.

He has no money at all when he researches 3/3 and he is getting pushed back constantly at the 4th with no drones at it while Illusion mines freely on four bases. He chose not to drop the ultralisk cavern (or even research adrenal glands) on purpose. A zerg going muta/ling who doesn't pressure terran/have any map presence AT ALL is clearly losing badly.
2300 mineral and 2100 gas banked. He was mining from the 5th as the engagement happened. He could have made a TON of mutas and control the game since it was amazing that he was holding until the last attack with very little mutas. But he wanted to deliver a final deadly blow with 8 ultras popping out and countering but his obvious mistake caused him the game.
Also consider he had no marauders in production up until much later.

Edit: Actually I am going to take this moment to express my hate for swarm hosts. FYI I am a zerg player. First they are lair tech brood lords. Second they are not good in small numbers and are only good once they reach a critical mass, thus defeating the purpose of being a unit that controls space. Lastly they are the least scary unit that spawns the least zergy unit that I have ever seen, both the swarm host and the locust don't look like they are zerg at all.
Lastly the lurker is a scary unit that controls space much better, with fewer units, doesn't spawn free units and is much scarier. On top of that the strategy that comes with the lurker is much greater than that of the swarmhost, as seen in ver's article about savior.

And that's where you start praying. You have no control over the game when that happens. Before in WoL you would have opportunities to gain an advantage, slow down the zerg or force some tempo on your opponent as you make your air switch. In HOTS you are praying since zerg is in complete control.

This is what's so annoying about swarm host play like this. Moonglade clearly had the game waaaay before the gg, but swarm hosts are so hard to land a killing blow with. Its funny to see them get excited about maker killing the swarm host, because the minute he did, moonglade would have the killing blow 2 minutes later with the freed up supply.
At that point the only way maker could have won was to kill the tech buildings so that said tech switch can't happen, and that's not easy.

They are not OP and really use for hard countering mech. They are however, boring, unexciting, and badly designed.

Yeah, that's one of the reasons I've been against the design of brood lords since the first time I saw them. The idea of an air unit that shoots free units that automatically break siege lines for you and accumulate over time and keep on attacking was just ludicrous to me, especially considering the range of brood lords. Some people on this site have advocated some kind of locust buff to increase swarm host usage but honestly that's just crazy talk, locusts are already really good against armies that don't have lots of AOE or the healing ability unique to Terran bio play.

The problem is Terran either has a lot of AOE, a lot of healing, or both. That's central to Terran play.
Protoss always has AOE by the time swarm hosts come out whether it's swarm host tech or not.
Zerg? well, swarm hosts can't shoot up.
So the hypothetical armies you talk about don't actually exist if the match is even and you get to swarm host tech.
If not, you've won anyway no matter what you make.

It's funny. Moonglade scouted the banshees, and even made the spores super-early. Still took a significant amount of damage from the cloaked banshees.
Thankfully Maker gets caught completely off guard by mutas, and he had even pre-emptively turreted up the main and natural

Depends on upgrades, splitting, positioning and if you're on offense or defense. Generally depends on the unit comp.

They're decent, but you HAVE to have support of some type (mines, marines). For bio at least the marines are the real damage dealers, thors are there so that Zerg can't clump them and snipe a tank in a single volley

I wish they had a better observer. That is the only complaint I have. Everything else is acceptable. Just the observing is very shaky. Also- Pip is very annoying.

There is no reason why Moonglade wouldn't have defended that base on the side, or counterattacked the base at 12 o'clock (which would've had less units) if it was spotted. I think it was quite simplistic of Axeltoss to suggest that was the only reason Illusion didn't win.
Having said that, it would've definitely changed how the game looked overall.

Illusion is definitely a player who could most benefit from the NA scene getting more organized, with sharper play and minding the details he could be a lot bigger.

Moonglade was most certainly looking like he gave the game away by being super inefficient. But he did have a crazy bank/eco that he could afford to trade badly. The 6 o'clock base was really pivotal and Illusion made a big oversight in not going there at all.

Illusion is probably in better shape than the Huk we've seen recently. Scarlett is on a break I thought? Idra and Gowser are probably better in form, but their group is pretty gruesome!

Hmm even though he hasn't been playing as well as he used to I'd still rate HuK over Illusion (by some margin), and AFAIK Scarlett is playing her WCS games before the break. Gos might make it out of that nasty group but idra will have to actually turn up if he wants a shot.
