Since ESET is an open tourney; have you thought about applying for a WCS-Tier1/2-event? Additional points should pull some more players.

Hmm well, we will use a new player for our stream today, so I guess there are some technical difficulties with our webpages, because all the tech has to be adapted. :-\

No, it won´t be Bo1. Flying people from all over the world to Hamburg for one game wouldt indeed make no sense. The format-section in the OP is referring to the Qualifiers, not the Grand Final itself!

We can not adjust the quality on twitch.tv without a partnership with twitch.tv. And since twitch is not willing to partner with us, we can´t do anything about that.

Homer is German and his stream caters to a German audience, of course he will stream the games of ShoWTimE and Hasu.
Btw, kind of silly that StarDust and EmpireTVZerg aren't listed on the calendar despite casting (Currently Ai.Revenge vs Na'Vi Strelok), whereas EmSc is still listed despite the stream being completely and utterly broken.

Well 500-600 viewers see the stream. Try using F5. I'm in USA for summer , and the servers for Motioncreds are in EU now , so there might be few problems with it. MC shoud have the USA servers this week.

This is not directly related to the ESET Masters 2013, but I did a little interview with ESC_ShoWTimE recently, who became a part of ESC after he participated at the offline finals of the ESET Winter Masters 2012 in Hamburg. For the german interview click HERE. (You can also find his Twitter, Facebook and Stream there, so please check all of that out and give him some love! )
For all the english speaking people out there, I tried to translate the whole thing, so the english might not be the most educated one, but I hope you will understand and enjoy the interview nonetheless! :D
+ Show Spoiler +HomerJ.de: Hello ShoWTimE, before we go into the interview, I want to say: Congratulations! You did very well in the recent tournaments winning an ESET Masters 2013 Qualifier, getting 2nd in the Season 1 Final, making a big run through the Go4SC2 June Final beating LucifroN and many more and then winning EPS-Cup #4 (on the day the interview as done) - are you already satisfied with those results, or do you want more? ShoWTimE: I am happy about my recent success, but I am not yet satisfied. Even when I get really far in a tournament, I am rarely happy with my own performance and I want to practice again to play better next time. HomerJ.de: You are right into a progamer-year at the moment, before you go to university. Is there anything you want accomplish under all circumstances, one solid goal? ShoWTimE: There is no special goal I have, but I want to go to more offline events in my time as a progamer! HomerJ.de: Is there something that will make you delay going to university and continue your progaming-career? ShoWTimE: If I win WCS EU next season I will definitely continue my progaming-career! :D In earnest: At the moment I am thinking about being a progamer longer than planned, maybe half a year longer, but there is no special condition. As long as I have the feeling of making progress I will have it in mind. HomerJ.de: Will you be active in eSport while you study, if you have the time for it? ShoWTimE: If I still have fun with SC2 I will absolutely stay active in the community. Maybe not as a pro-player, but I will follow the scene. HomerJ.de: You came to our community as an absolute "noob", a Bronze-player and now you are a pro, are always in the top regions of the GM league. What did you make play on and on, what is your motivation to get better, to get this good? ShoWTimE: I think my nature is to be very competitive and I always set myself new goals, that I wanted to reach. To see how you make progress and learn something new is so much fun and gives me new motivation every day. HomerJ.de: Who is your idol gameplay-wise? ShoWTimE: I am a very big fan of SK Telecom T1 Rain. His style is very impressive, because in contrast to other Protoss-players, who a relying on Allins and Timing-Attacks, he plays very defensive and tries to get into long games, to win with his gamesense and mechanics. HomerJ.de: Can you remember your first braodcasted game? How did you feel back then? ShoWTimE: Hmm... thats a long time ago. I think the first time I was casted in front of thousands of viewers was by TaKe in a Go4SC2 against Nerchio. In the beginning I was very nervous, my hands were shaking, but after a few minutes ingame everything was fine. When Nerchio made a typical Nerchio-Comment ingame to insult me, I was shaking again. But in the end that made my victory over him even sweeter.^^ HomerJ.de: I remember the game, that was a macro game on Ohana, where you destroyed him after he began to flame. :D Do you want to share with us, what you did with your first prize money? ShoWTimE: I did not buy anything with the first prize money I got, but after a few more wins I bought a new monitor, because my old one was going downhill.^^ HomerJ.de: ESC took you into their team after the ESET Winter Masters 2012. How did you react when they contacted you? Did you have doubts about making the last step into progaming, or did you know immediately that this was your big chance? ShoWTimE: I did not have that many doubts. I was in contact with a few other teams back then and knew that I wanted to make that step, so when ESC contacted me my decision was easily made. (Here I asked a balance question, where he answered that Hellbats are a problem and they shouldt nerf their damage, but after the interview the patch was announced, so this is not that interestung anymore.) HomerJ.de: Do you think, that there shouldt be more variation in the map pools of tournaments? Many players are vetoing new maps, because they don´t know them, but that also makes the evolution of maps difficult and leads to the use of the same maps over and over, f. e. Daybreak. Do you think, that Blizzard maybe couldt fght against that by using more variation in the ladder map pool? ShoWTimE: As a viewer it surely wouldt be more interesting, if there are more new maps to watch. In the long run it gets really boring to always watch the same maps and more variation wouldt surely be good. But as a player I don´t really know, wether I wouldt like it. You want to play maps, on which your race has an advantage, or no big disadvantege. On the new maps it takes some time to figure out the advantages and when you play tournament you always want to play a map you already know and you played a lot on. HomerJ.de: Some random questions: Your favourite food? ShoWTimE: Spätzle and a good piece of meat! :D HomerJ.de: Are you a cat- or a dog-person? ShoWTimE: Dog-person! HomerJ.de: Which unit do you hate the most? ShoWTimE: Swarm Host! HomerJ.de: Which movie/series did you see most recently and how did you like it? ShoWTimE: A few days ago I watched Django Unchained for the second time and I still think that one is awesome. Normally I think the most movies are boring when I watch them the second time, bur Django Unchained I wouldt probably watch even a third time.^^ HomerJ.de: Thanks for the interview ShoWTimE, it was a pleasure. Good luck in your next tournaments, we will see each other at the ESET Masters 2013 finals I hope! If there is anything you want to say to your fans or your team, this is your chance - the last words are yours! ShoWTimE: Thanks for the interview and a big thank you to all the fans, who always cheer me on and are happy about my wins. Of course a big thank you to ESC for letting me play in their team and supporting me! Follow ShoWTimE on Twitter!Like him on Facebook! And check out his stream!

Hey guys, a quick message: On sunday a member of our time a heavy traffic accident and is in the hospital right now. There will be an operation on wednesday, so we will take a break with the ESET Masters this week and continue next week with Qualifier #2. We hope you understand that.
|
|
Wednesday is ESET day! Tune in in a few hours!
|
I sent an e-mail regarding a request to cover an English cast like a week ago, anyone reading their e-mails over there @_@?
|
The general does, what he does best; beating a zerg with 6 k gas and 4 bases more (4 vs. 8). GG GoOdy, you did, what Taeja could´nt do in SC2L.
|
|
Yeah. He is winning against every zerg now(at least when I watched the stream).

Just noticed that HeroMarine doesn't have a fan thread - so I looked for the event thread instead Impressive play by him, beating Hyun 3-0 in the finals, and this very convincingly against 3 different styles Hyun fielded.
Great cup in general, and I also like HomerJ's cast - even though he could pay a bit more attention to upgrade leads etc. ;D

Me too. Anyone cares to start a Fanclub-Thread? (http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/index.php?show_part=56) I really suck at BBCodes etc.
That would be great!

Haha, I checked Aligulac out myself as well, I guess you were a little faster there. Its funny how in all our cups the Koreans seem to fail in the early rounds, even when they are hugely favored over their opponents. We shall see if they can overcome this little curse this time. =)

Today starts Season 3! So dont miss it!
|
Bad time, running at the same time like WCS, while there was plenty of time beforehand. I'll definitely check it out anyways, since there are so many German players in there, though that means I need to split my attention between three streams (as I doubt that WCS will play out every game one after another).
|
Tormorrow will be the next ESET Masters Qualifyer from Season 3. So another chance to earn valueable points (and money...)
|
Since the question was forwarded a couple times to me again last week: Replays are not being published anymore. The upload only serves our admins and possible replay-casts by HomerJ.
And in case you didn't notice yet: we got some more statistics on our site, so its way easier to get an overview of matchups on previous cups. Examples: the player profile of AI.Krr or the player comparison between AcerMMA and mYi.Stardust.
Season 3 RQ#2 today, 18:00 CEST. See here.

Don't forget todays cup - same time, same place. 18:00 CEST on ESET-Masters.de that is. ;]

ESCShoWTimE beating jjakji in the lategame. In my opinion he is already the best german player. Maybe one of the best foreigner.
A little bit sad for the korean facing suche a strong player in the RO64.

What? Why would he be "Maybe one of the best foreigner"??! He may have beaten some really good players but i don't think he comes even close to be "one of the best foreigner"...

Depends on your definition of "one of the best foreigners". Anyways, Showtime is easily top 15 protoss outside of Korea and definitely gets less attention than he deserves for his performance.

I talked with an admin of them a few months ago, and he said, that there were issues, but those would have been resolved. I think they were planning stuff again at that point and since renting the venue, they are using, needs to happen in advance by quite a bit, maybe it will still happen. I'm skeptical about it, but I haven't completely lost all hope yet.

Well, it has been some time. But today we can finally confirm that the Grand Finals of the ESET Masters 2013 (^^) will happen at GamesCom! There have been problems with the budget and finding the right venue, problems which took way too long to resolve. But we made it at last and settled for GamesCom 2014 to provide the high quality tournament we promised. And believe us, we are not happy either that it took so long...
On Friday, 11th of July, 18:00 CEST, the Ro32/Ro16 will happen online (24 players from the regular Cups + 8 Invites voted by the community), the 8 surviving players will be playing at GC. Between the Ro32/Ro16 and GamesCom three GC Warm-Up tournaments will happen, more information on that soon.

Oh wow spoilers doesnt work on blizzards. Well you can not see the score but the winners are bolded.

yea, I mean I understand that it is difficult to schedule with all the qualifiers and other stuff going on, but maybe change the time when there is no other date possible? WCS starts at 17:00 cest, so maybe let eset ro32 start at 14 cest?
Having the players choose between one or another or have them play both at the same time will probably just result in a lot of default losses or big delays.

You are of course right! So we decided to have the event happen on Friday at 14:00 CEST, as you suggested. The map pool will be the same as the new ladder/WCS pool, the results of the player voting can be found here. The bracket will be released shortly and thanks to everyone for their patience. Also huge thanks to BasetradeTV - they will provide the english stream for our international viewers!

is it me or is Golden really indecisive with his lings? he keeps getting them into situations where they don't really have retreat as an option and then apparently just keeps running them in circles until they all die. why not just rightclick *something* so it's at least *some* damage done?

how the hell is heromarine making a 2-base tank push work against Zerg? Is this 2011?

Heromarine can do anything!! As long as it works I'm not going to complain!

-.- sad to see HM lose like this

Yes the power of zerg all ins haha
|
Not impressed with heromarine's plays. He never poked the zerg's natural with his hellions. If he did, he would of saw that golden basically had no units and could have killed many drones. These little details can mean the difference of winning and losing.

I just got to the hotel from GamesCom, was a blast to be part of these finals. I'll do a large recap in the next days when I am home again. Congratulations to our winner, the old and new champion!

So, was the third place match played off-stream or will we get to see that and when?
|
seems they did a piss poor job of making this tournament known, didn't even know it was happening until someone told me stardust was in the semis and about to win 10k
gj sd!

the promo for this tournament was once again pretty non existent. there are plenty of 100$ showmatches every day that are hyped much more. i accidentally found it in the tl stream list. someone tell them to use more than their own facebook page to promote stuff.

As far as promotion goes: We planned on having BaseTrade cast, but as I said that didn't work out on short terms. Also it's pretty hard to promote anything without WCS points these days (and we did not get any points despite fullfilling all requirements and several applications to Blizzard - unlike some other events *cough*Gfinity*cough*).
We still had nice numbers on the german stream, so thanks to anyone who tuned in. As I said I will anser any questions or concerns when I am home again. Once again, apologies to the english audience.

Well first of all these finals should've happened last year so I guess many just forgot about it.
Also the HomerJ Crew seems to not give many shits about SC2 anymore. I mean they did an okay Job yesterday but it was way better in the earlier years. The Caster never really had to much game knowledge and his casting was about entertaining the audience rather than having good game analysis etc. ... but if you're only good at entertaining and you're not really excited by the game, you won't to great.
Also I really don't like how they dealt with criticism in the Twitch chat. I mean there was of course a whole lot of bullshit going on but they threw out bans left and right even for the slightest little piece of criticism and the caster himself it trolling and talking bullshit about every single person he want's.
I got banned permanently for saying that the poor guy that interviewed the players had really thick glasses (because he had)... I mean wtf. I have thick glasses by myself and I wasn't even trying to make fun of him.
About the tournament itself: I think part of the little Hype was the lack of players to really cheer for combined with the feeling that Stardust will win this pretty easily (well it wasn't that easy but he won nonetheless). The Matches (I was able to catch) were not that exciting, only one game of Patience vs. Stardust got me, mostly because I really didn't want Stardust to win but that's another story.
Overall I hope there will be a new Season, maybe with fresh motivation, but I'm really not sure if this is going to happen.
|
I suppose it is hard to hype a tournament that is more than 8 months late. At least 3 players that entered the tournament has since quit SC2 altogether I believe, which kind of diminishes the glory of the tournament too. I think it would do the organizers good to rather rapidly get another tournament going and finish it within the planned time frame to get some credibility back. No need for jealous stabs about WCS points, just do great events and the points will come I'm sure.

@Trumpet: The "poor guy" interviewer was me btw. And I don't agree with the "too little hype"-thing - sure, the atmosphere was not like in the finals of the ESET Masters 2012 (but thats hard to overcome anyways), but the crowd actually had a lot of energy, Marine, StarDust and Golden are quite popular with the fans. Also having the Ro4 and the Finals going the full distance was pretty epic I think. HomerJ's voice was almost ruined from the day before, I myself stood upon a stage and did a broadcast for the first time in my life - so yeah, we couldn't go to the maximum unfortunately. About Twitch-Chat, no idea what happened there, but we wanted a positive atmosphere in there.
All in all we dealt with a pretty crappy situation in these finals, and for what we had at our disposal we did well I think. I am not sure how much I can say in public, but please don't judge our abilities by this event... a lot was out of our influence unfortunately. I started with the english blog while taking the train home, will finish it when I wake up tomorrow.
|
When the 2013 Finals occur at August 2014, there must have gone something wrong, it describes a bit the missing hype. No (important) english caster was... not good either, but it happens. I'd like 2 watch the tournament, we have seen good games. I hope i dont have to say something to the sound problems, they were most annoying ( for you and for the viewers ). I dont know if there will be a ESET Masters 2015 ( with Finals 2015 ), but i hope it. And no offense, but the EPS Finals with smaller prize pool and without a current WCS Champion were much more succesfull when it comes 2 viewers and hype. Maybe just learn something for the future, when you stick with SC II.
