There is a player called Clam? O.o
It's a joke from BW. Calm when he plays well. Clam when he plays bad. ;p
This is completely unrelated and a bit homosexual, but I always found Calm to be one of the cuter progamers.
He is indeed. Everyone is drooling about Bisu and Calm doesn't get nearly any compliments. Last is good looking too and that actually influenced my FPL pick in last round. I wish they would both do well.
So many SKT T1 fanboys voting in those polls. I think that Bogus can beat anybody on SKT except for Rain, so if STX can manage to take Rain out in a PvP, I think they have it.

going STX didn't work for me in R1 sadly T_T
If you go with STX is always ends in disappointment. X_X
Okay so I invested half of my FPL team's points into Stats and Bogus. Stats is only getting me 1 point because Flash doesn't share, so if Bogus doesn't get any points I am going to be pissed. That being said, I'm confident. Let's see Bogus vs Fantasy, because let's be honest, that would blow the Taeja v Flash game that just happened right out of the water in terms of skill.

Why do they even do these interviews? Its seriously bizarre. They say the exact same thing almost word for word. Does this feel like an actual interview in Korea? I feel like everyone else would feel the same.

as long as you're enjoying it who cares, if proleague goes away eventually because Korea doesn't care about it then that's just too bad.
SPL is definitely awesome. I like 4 days a week out of 7 (plus GSL and other stuff).
Even just listening to the audio while playing other games is fun. (That's how I deal with the "viewer fatigue" problem, I don't always watch it but just listen to the audio while doing something else.)
Hope it catches on more (viewer count has been consistently at 15-20k for games involving EGTL so far).
I didn't care for the new KeSPA maps initially, but I think they create some refreshing games. Glad to see a bunch of the new maps being set early in these matches.

It's all about using new maps to keep things fresh. Other tournaments really have to catch on.

Yeah I always thought it was known as a Terran favoured map but lately (since the patch I guess) has been 50/50. SNM said (twice, no less) that it was traditionally Zerg favoured.

Wait why is everyone suddenly like "man if Soo all-kills..." when he's only won one game :o
It would nice though. I have both Soo and Bogus, and if Soo AKs I'll be happy anyway because he'll be taking the points I'd get from Bogus and if they're going to eat each other up anyway...
On January 06 2013 15:36 dainbramage wrote: Just tuned in... when did they switch to all-kill format?
Because it's Round 2. All teams have played each other already and that marked the end of Round 1. When all teams have played the other 7 teams again it moves to Round 3 when its normal Proleague format again.

Kind of good, but they'll eat each other's points up, so in that case I'd rather Soo win (and keep on winning) because I have SKT as my team. Bogus is also my captain, so if Soo does really well today, it would also open up the option to trade up :x

I have bogus too but soO winning would be better--I have SKT as my team and if soO strings together a bunch of kills it will be the same anyway since it's soo v bogus :\
He doesn't have gas for any good units at the end. And also, without those corruptors, he would've been killed 10 mins ago. I wouldn't say those corruptors are bad choice of units.

He was. But it was because he over made corrupters.
to be fair theres a shitload of vikings out there. And Bogus makes use of that so well, he takes both golds
He had 25+ corrupters left after killing all the Vikings.
And in these max vs max battles, ironically, BLs are actually good vs Vikings in that they can take out the Thors quickly and reduce all that splash damage to your corrupters which just kills the Vikings.
There were 19-20k viewers just now for the EGTL KT game. 10-11k average is decent considering how many days in a week the games are being played and considering this is a long-running Proleague season (there's no finals or something till end of the year/season).

This has been pretty normal this season. When it's not EG-TL it was averaging around 7k so this is an improvement.

If they actually hyped it up and introduced more fans to some of the Koreans they could get so much more for the non EG-TL games. The best part about the EG-TL broadcasts was they actually hyped/told people they games were happening.

Hybrid season. LOL! Anyway, maybe a lot of the community tunes in to SPL because of FPL. Was there ever a FGSTL?
It's all because of EG-TL and the fact that nothing else is on. if EG-TL didn't go to proleague, airforce ace was still alive and they didn't launch during the GSL offseason it wouldn't be nearly this popular.
On January 06 2013 16:17 decado90 wrote: Does anyone else feel that SPL is beginning to overshadow the GSL?
Not really? For one, they're different formats, and SPL doesn't have non-kespa players (for the most part). There also hasn't really been any chance to compare the two in terms of timing. There is one going on as we speak facepalm. Just check the fantasy pages lol.
nah that league ended like over a year ago. That GSTL season finished in 2011 I believe.
O; Another one will start up soon in time.
They could only do one because the GSTL format isn't friendly for fantasy. They did the one season of round robin but they said they are going back to that in 2013 so we should be seeing fantasy GSTL again hopefully
Yeah man, it's the format that really works against it in the first place. I haven't been playing in it at all.

Most of them have 1 for staff FPL and 1 for normal FPL. The staff FPL is just a fun thing monk decided to do last second, and it is not related to the other FPL's on TL. This is also the first FPL I have even been in

Haha nice. I was just thinking, it would be a huge nerf for you guys if you had to do that draft thing against unrestricted other posters. Then again, 2 teams also seems like a lot to take care of for me.
I'm sad because Bogus lost, but honestly I love when those two collide. The first game of BW I ever watched was Bogus vs Fantasy back in 2009 PL Playoffs. Both of those guys have such good tank control, I wish Bogus could have won, but that siege up on all of Bogus's depots and shutting down his upgrades was too much.

1 staff and 1 normal. Sometimes the teams conflict, but it's interesting that each staff playing owns about a total of 16 players and 2 teams between the two different teams. Combine that with the fact that we care about our "opponents" in staff FPL means that we care about how 23 players and 3 teams do per round. So basically every match is important to us.

299.39 average every week is still hardcore. Grandmaster forum-guy.
What a machine
Can someone calculate how many hours a day is that??
you guys are acting like I dont do anything else D: I still go to school and do social life stuff and I was working in a lab. Working in the lab just gave me like 6 hours of free time while I was waiting for my reactions to run so after I finished my homework I just watched starcraft because I couldn't leave. I just had to be in the same building as the experiment to make sure it didn't mess up. I should probably sleep more, though.
I'm surprised we aren't getting more players/personalities commentating these games on there streams, I'm sure they would get decent viewers with how many people are unhappy.

Fantasy looked fine his other days so I'm willing to assume he just had a really bad day vs RorO. I wouldn't be surprised if they tried harder in SPL though since it's the most important league to them

Their main focus has always been PL.
It's basically what they get paid for.
I feel like these guys are going to try hard in GSL though, they aren't making as much money as they were in brood war and the GSL prize pool is a chance at some big money.

GSL got started earlier, with all the sponsors looking to get in on SC2 jumping to them.
Give Proleague some time and it will also become huge. Right now I feel like they need better production value and a dedicated, on-site team for English casts like GSL.

Khaldor and Wolf really set the gold standard for top-notch casting IMO. Sure, there are other big-name, big-hype casting combos, but Khaldor and Wolf do their homework to a ridiculous level, and are on point every night for hours at a time, all the time. They know metagame, they know player backstories, current behind-the-scene info, and have great game awareness and casting mojo.
They completely set the standard for how to do the job.

That was very weird by Dear. He seemed to decide after doing the collosus fake and going templar to go back to collosus with 0 templars so he got hit without any real aoe except 1 collosus that died.
Oh Dear, I am sorry I enjoyed Fanta crushing you. You were so amazing for my FPL last season but this round I just couldn't afford you. Please forgive me.
Fantasy has some pretty nice Ghost control. Those last two games, the HTs didn't really have a huge effect on the game because Fantasy was able to engage them near perfectly each time.

no he probably went for 2 bases colossi timing but Fantasy pressured him at the perfect time and killed all the sentries so all-in fail into losing game.
I really didn't know where else to put this. But if you are interested in getting the hoodie that SKT1 is currently wearing (it is just a generic Nike hoodie) it can be found here:

It was never a 2 base collosus timing. He made one and then transitioned out of it. He didnt even bother getting range when he got the one despite having the gas to do so. He got storm for the templars then after that battle that went pretty well for him he switched back to collosus but got hit before he had enough to really do anything and with his army in a terrible spot.

i dont think he tried a 2 base colossi all-in,just a fake colossi into ht build with double upgrades and late 3rd: i believe its Creator PvT`s build, but im not sure if its the same

It's the reason for many of his losses, and if he is matched up vs PartinG or someone of his caliber (HerO really blew it) the outcome just won't be the same. Fantasy is playing beautifully. It'll be great to see Flash do it too, 'cause I'm a fan.

Super common but I kinda hope this meta thing goes away, it's pretty expensive to fake colo and then tech into storm, leaves P vulnerable for so long and now it's getting predictable.

Well, you need at least 4 HTs with storm (preferably 6) before you try to switch back. But I guess he had to try because of the number of ghosts that were already on the field. His 3rd was just too late.

That part is a standard 1 collosus to force vikings and then switching into templar. That part actually worked fine and he managed to even out the game with the battle despite being down a base for quite awhile. The lack of any real aoe in that final battle (and having a bad angle) killed him for that last fight whereas if he still had either stayed on templar or at least gotten enough to protect himself he might not have died right there.

Actually, Fantasy made a great play at the end of that battle. While retreating with his army, he saw that some HT were in front. He sent about 5 marauders to snipe 2 and forced 2 storms.
these tosses losing like this is killing me. cant wait to see parting play and win some games cuz he actually uses fricken collossi. this terran domination is actually making me wish to see some lazers, sure the unit is terrible to watch, but then this stompfest is what you see without it
Yeah Fantasy did a great job today but so does Flash...to bad we didn't get to see Stats,Wooki,Action,Rain in action. Oh well there's always next time i guess.

Yeah, 75% drop from first week. -----TB
I love being misquoted.
First week we had 20k, that hasn't been beaten since by anything, including last night which topped out at around 18k for a Flash all-kill of EGTL during the first night of the second round, likely the most high profile event you're going to see in Proleague for a while. During Round 1 there was anything between 5k and 10k for the vast majority of matches, higher if EG/TL was playing, but never surpassing the first week.
The drop is clear to see if you aren't a dumbass and selectively picking your numbers rather than looking at the whole picture.

I honestly wouldn't judge the popularity of the proleague based on single stream done in English cast. The majority of old-school PL fans, or really just any of the many who loved PL in the BW era, prefer Korean commentary. I personally watch using the OGN HD Stream in my VLC, and I know many other PL fans who do this. Additionally, the youtube stream is a popular destination. You're also failing to see that the PL is difficult league to follow via a live stream. It happens four days a week, and fans usually watch only on night their particular teams are playing. KT and SKT fanboys will flood streams all the time because there are so many of them, but lesser followed clubs like STX and Woongjin generally see lower stream numbers; however, the popularity of the PL as a whole is very large in the foreign community. What I am very concerned about is the lack of people in the seats. Again, this could be because PL is happening four days a week again now, and has a very very long season, but I am beginning to worry if Koreans will truly appreciate an SC2 Proleague. We can only hope.

It could also have something to do with the notion that promotion on a big twitter account and 2 huge Youtube channels contributes significantly to audience numbers. During the time the 5 hour promo was running on my main channel it had 50,000 unique views, the Twitter account had 140,000 followers and the video on the SC2 channel ended up with about 13,000 views. These are things one has to take into account and also why casters with a higher-profile tend to get picked for tournaments.
Flat out ignoring the fact that high-profile casters and their promotion = more views is just silly.
Day 2 also had extremely strong numbers despite EGTL not playing. Those numbers have not been replicated since. There is no question that Proleague numbers are not as strong as the first two broadcasts, with a drop of anywhere between about 33-75% in audience depending on who is playing in comparison. As to what you attribute that to well that's up to you, but I maintain that putting inexperienced casters on an important tournament especially when one of them cannot enunciate correctly in the language he is expected to speak, is detrimental to that tournaments potential growth. That of course, was KeSPAs decision.
On the flipside, there's been a clear improvement in visual fidelity and the increased framerate helps (though it seems to be running at something like 40 rather than 60). GOM needs to step it up in comparison.

As I said before in this very thread, there is a conflict of interest here TB and I already laid out the ground work in the EG-TL production thread, which was closed. You should just drop it.

Wow so amazing to be able to see vods for free, and in decent quality! =D Does not matter if it's korean casting, it's even better. I will finally get to see all those amazing terrans.
Thank you Last and Pantaji for my FPL points!! (= Fantasy is soooo goood, was the number 1 of the world at the end of BW and is a high level terran at sc2.

Also can I just say? T8 vs CJ current viewers 3 games in, - 4742. Just imagine that if I were a petulant man I would be dancing around with a big "you were saying?" sign.
But I'm not, I just like contributing to discussions from a position of knowing a few things.
