Reaver wouldn't really overlap with any existing unit. Besides, the Protoss already have 2 capital ships (Tempest + Carrier). Obviously they should be allowed to have 4 AoE units (Templar, Colossus, Reaver, Archon).

The problem is that unit AI and pathing are extremely different from Brood War. Reaver mechanics would just not be the same

In the SCBW map - how they did the Scarabs were kind of close.

Plus, I think Blizzard can add in Scarab mechanics that mimic BW because missile/projectile movement is done differently (there is much more customization, like you can make missiles do fancy curves or movement if you wanted to; unlike regular unit movement that is).

The only difference would be that Reavers may be much more stronger due to natural unit clumping but they could slow scarab travel speed and make it so the opponent can micro away from the scarab.
