Four double elimination brackets with eight players each will be played out on Day 1. The Top 2 of each bracket advance into the $29,000 main tournament.

not the prime player
K, reverted to older version and added a note saying it isn't MaruPrime.
Seems like I won't watch this tournament even though Hasu is casting. If there only 2 or less Terrans adavancing to normal groups, this will be officially the most boring tournament. I normally enjoy PvP and PvZ aswell, but there was just too much of it in recent tourneys.

It depends. If a bracket has Zenio, Mafia and Ninja for example (God, I hope not) Mafia and Ninja could potentially upset Zenio.
If anyone from IEM website team sees this, I just want to say that the countdown timer on the main page of IEM is off. Says 11.5 hours until the next game. That's like 4am in the morning
Was personally hoping for some bigger names, though I guess it's nice to have the SEA scene being more active too

I don't think you can get a (open) bracket until the checkin on the first day is done. Thats 10am tomorrow local time if i spyed correctly on sc2sea chat
Hope to see a lot of you guys there tomorrow :D I'll be hopefully doing some interviews across the four days and I hope there will be a good turn out for SC2.
Don't know any of these people very well, except zenio, Lucifron, and OZ. My guess is OZ should take it pretty easily. But I am rooting for Zenio been a long time since he has won something big, and year of liquid is not over yet lol

It certainly doesn't look like it - IEM is hard pressed to fill the group stages already, let alone have 8 decent players pass through the Open Bracket so I'm sure they'd be showing all the players they can at this point.
he had dinner with all the Singapore and Australian players who flew down! did a small write up on sc2sea. the open brackets start tomorrow, only 4 koreans + lucifron so a ton of sea players are gonna be in the groups. Also some players in the group stage have withdrawn so there may open up even more spots.
SEA favorites to qualify from the open bracket would be Mafia and Ninja
Haha hope you have good fun nirvana and other people in Singapore.
I do think this tournament is not bad at all, although the amount of players not going is disappointing. i mean, Luficron, Zenio, Sting, MC, Oz, Yugioh, Grubby, White-RA, Vortix, Revival are all strong players. And players like HasuObs, KingKong and StarDust among others can be strong as well. Definitely gonna be a fun tournament.
That being said, i have no idea how much i'll miss because of the times... Dreamhack is obviously much more convenient to watch as an European. ^^ However, given this apparently starts at 4 a.m. CET, perhaps it'll run for long enough to watch at least the later stages of the tournament days.
oh wow compared the IEM cologne, the player line up in this IEM is pretty weak. It's going to be hard for them to compete with Dreamhack for viewers. but at the very least they're not exactly in the same time zone.

I'm no Zenio fan as well, but not adding him to the list when his competition is DM.MCZ Polaris, Yekke and CGFatal is pretty damning, lol.
But somewhat understandable, I wouldn't want to eat my foot either.

I've got all my hipster dollars on CGfatal he'd better beat zenio.
there's really only 19 players in the open bracket? Sigh poor IEM, this event being the same weekend as Dreamhack sandwiched between WCS finals and IPL5 really took a huge toll.

Why not? They were planning to fill eight spots, so that's a great way to determine two spots in each bracket through double elimination. If you do less brackets, you might have some good players meeting early and knocking each other out.
It doesn't really matter since the good players will make it anyway now, and since they're 10 open spots there's even more chances to qualify.
LOL that HasuObs is now in the tournament after flying there as a caster, that's almost White-Raesque. Guess it does make a small amount of sense since he did play in the EU qualifier but it's still a bit ridiculous to see how many players dropped out.

I guess ... it just looks wierd .. so many open spaces o.o Good thing about this IEM tho is we'll get to see some interesting players that usually get ignored in DHs and the likes.

Much appreciated! I used to find these easily when TL had the 'Offline Stream' page, but for some reason R1ch got rid of it in the last update. Don't know why, I loved that page.

How many games left for today? Waiting for mrt to expo :s
What annoys me is the players who didn't participate. From the NA qualifiers none of the 3 qualified players elected to participate. Golden, Killer, and Idra all dropped out, after being invited to stage 3 of the qualifiers and participating in them. So of the 3 qualifier spots for America we only have one player who actually came, which was StarDust Light who was replacing one of the 3 players who dropped out without even listing a reason. The other 2 'American' qualifier spots were given to non Americans, Hasuobs and Tarantius.
What annoys me is professional players blaming tournament organizers for theit invitations. As unprofessional and rude it might be to accept an invition to a later qulification stage, actually qualifying and then not showing up, I think its even more unprofessional to blame the organizers.

Who to blame for tournament organization besides the organizers? The organizers aren't to blame for the iem american qualified players not coming, but I think they shouldn't invite people to stage 3 without confirming if they will be able to attend if they qualify first.

Most people are watching the GSL, and its a bad time for EU/NA in general.
Personally, I've seen enough PvZ to last me a lifetime.
Holy shit Artosis is casting this thing? It's kind of weird as the GSL is on at the same time. I wish he still did the whole GSL with Tasteless. Those were the good old days. Anyway that T v Z Sting vs. Enderr reminded me of some 2010 T v Z where the Z got f'd in the ass the whole game until gg. Super one-sided.
It really is hard to imagine a worse time to broadcast. The wee hours in america and the middle of the working day EU (I'm at work, too=). + The GSL is on. But what are you gonna do, with time zones and stuff. Still I guess the scene is a little over saturated with events.

Artosis and Tasteless don't do code A. I'm sure they will cast the RO4 and finals.
edit: to clarify: this complaint seems pretty badly timed considering Wolf and Khaldor have casted Code A for several seasons.

Well I'm sorry. It just crossed my mind as I saw Artosis doing IEM while the GSL was on. I wasn't really complaining, was I? I just wish they still did the whole thing though I understand why they don't.
