Not really. I think people just assumed that players that did well in last GSL would automatically do well in this one. It is actually rare to make 2 Ro8 in a row.

Season 1 Ro8 --> Season 2 Ro8 1/8 PartinG
Season 2 Ro8 --> Season 3 Ro8 2/8 Naniwa, Taeja
Season 3 Ro8 --> Season 4 Ro8 2/8 Symbol, Taeja
Season 4 Ro8 --> Season 5 Ro8 1/8 MKP (Life, Leenock, Symbol with a shot)
I think because due to the condense season, it seems players just went from Ro32 to Ro8 really quickly and there wasn't time to build hype.

Both Code S tournaments in November have been weird. Ryung to finally win GSL now that he can no longer use it to gain Boxer's love? Ryung/MKP making the finals would be good for GOM. Both have good stories and would prevent a ZvZ final. While ZvZ can be fun, a ZvZ final would be crowded by people whining Zerg is OP and that the winner is a patchzerg.
I'm still not sure who to cheer for there, god they are both so adorable and have amusing personalities and playstyles * sobs* why did they have to meet next round.
