The time has come for our forty first IGN Pro League Fight Club! This is a weekly king of the hill showmatch series. Basically, there will be a 1 vs. 1 best of 9 showmatch each and every week, where the winner will earn a $500 prize and a $100 bounty on their head. For example, if a player wins three weeks in a row they will have earned $1,500 and a $300 bounty. If a NEW challenger defeats him, they will earn $500 for the showmatch, take the $300 bounty home, and have a new $100 bounty placed on their head for each week that they win.
When: Tuesday, Nov 13 12:00am GMT (GMT+00:00) (we will also broadcast the match repeatedly afterwards!)
TSL's HyuN is a ridiculous human being. He has now won Fight Club for twelve weeks in a row! He defeated reigning MLG and GSL Champion Life 5 - 4 last week to add another head to his wall! His additional victims include IPL4 winner, aLive, IPL4 runner-up Squirtle, and GSL Semifinalists FXO.GuMiho and ByuN.Prime and Liquid`Sea. HyuN has won a grand total of $6800 in fight club, as of this week.
TSL.HyuN
PartinG has never lost using his two base immortal all-in. He claims he has gone 70 games straight without a loss. Will PartinG's wonwonwonwon Soul be able to defeat HyuN to claim $500 and an amazing $1300 bounty!?

The Unmovable Object of IPLFC, sitting on a hill of bounty money and infestors, against the Unstoppable Force, a dreaded fighter whose secret tecnique, the soul-filled WonWonWon of the StarTale Style, killed a thousand zergs? Count me in.
For my 4000th post I decided to do something a little special.
A couple weeks ago I wrote up a pretty silly little haiku for Hyun in anticipation of his match vs life and it was read on stream. It was awesome that the read it but I knew I could write something much much better than that. Though I am normally a modest man, I believe I have succeeded in creating a worthy haiku for the IPL FC Champion and his stream. I sincerely hope the IPL casters agree. Behold:
Life was not enough The lord of Hyunderworld Seeks immortal souls.
There's at least five different ways to interpret that by the way, though they start to get a bit abstract (hint "immortal soul"). See if you can figure them all out! (The first three are easy). I wish I could've squeezed "Finale" in there somewhere, but I just couldn't make it work. Besides, in a way he IS in there anyway :p

The similarity is not coincidental :p
I want to see if the king of fight club can stop the WonWonWon, and how often Parting will try it. I am hoping for and expecting a Parting win. Hyun has 3 Terrans in his GSL ro16 group, so I imagine he has been practising mostly ZvT.

Very nice ^_^
As ever, I won't be able to watch this, not really sure who I want to win this, or even if the games will be good, but the storyline of Hyun's unstoppable streak and Parting's soulful WonWonWon is so damn interesting that it'll be memorable if nothing else.
I'm just saying this but.. in 10 years, the big deal isn't gonna be WCS, GSL, OSL, MLG, etc, its gonna be IPL Fight Club versus HyuN, for a 100k dollars bounty.

Someday Code S finalists will hide there build at the finals just to have better chance to take HyuN out at Fight Club.

Thing is though, that since that interview Parting has barely used the build at all (I think just once against Losira?), so the hype has just been slowly building, and now it's time to see if he can live up to it in the grandest of settings.

Hyunline seems literally unbeatable lol... but 9x WonWonWon should have a >50% success rate so I still predict PartinG to take this, scoreline... fuck knows
Game 1 - (WonWonWon) 1-0 (PartinG win) Game 2 - (WonWonWon) 2-0 (PartinG win) Game 3 - (WonWonWon) 3-0 (PartinG win) Game 4 - (PartinG feels sorry for allining so he takes a third) 3-1 (HyuN win) Game 5 - (10 pool from HyuN) 3-2 (HyuN win) Game 6 - (Fake immortal allin) 3-3 (HyuN win) Game 7 - (Takes another third yet again) 3-4 (HyuN win) Game 8 - (Life tells PartinG to quit letting HyuN win and get revenge for him, in other words, WonWonWon) - 4-4 (PartinG win) Game 9 - (WonWonWon) 5-4

I think "WonWonWon" is one Won for Parting's name, one Won for Startale's coach name, and one Won for victory?
Honestly I hope PartinG wins here because Fight Club is getting boring just watching Hyun win for the past so many months. I'd like to see two new faces if that means they have to pay Hyun his bounty to get him to leave then so be it.

Correct, also Korean currency which you win by doing the build.

Going to shamelessly quote that because I think it's awesome.
Also, when the IPL ad's in progress music comes up all I'm going to hear is WON WON WON.
you didn't need to quote it , people will read it and I was about to quote it anyway. I'm a firm believer that good content always shines through, especially if you post it early and put your heart into it.
I think it's intesresting because I've noticed Parting stay away from the 1-1-1 in his last couple PvZ's, and additionally zerg's MUST have figured it out by now(I know Startale Curious, teammate of Parting so practices against it often, hinted at having build orders to deal with it).
The most effective way to play this out for Parting is only to mix it in twice throughout this best of 9, and use it simply as a very very powerful allin that requires a intensely astute reaction.
That's why I think Hyun will probably win in the end, but there's always the good chance that Parting manages to hit some good pre hive timings.
Thinking about it, I say that if Parting wins the first game, he wins 5-3.

Question is, is $500 worth revealing your ace in the hole 5 times? Cut the loss, save immortal/sentry for bigger stages, then Parting could easily win more than $500. If I were Parting, I would conisder it.

If he that were the case he would just decline the invite. He knows hyun is not some low level foreigner, he needs good strats to beat him.
hyun beat finale so he shouldnt have any problem beating parting, imo 5:1 for hyun. his style is just too solid and he understands how to defend 2base immo allins really well

Honest question here but why do Zergs not build more than 1 macro hatch? When I see guys trying to pump lings once the Collosus are down, even with immaculate injects they often run out of larva before exhausting minerals

Well indeed, Hyun is a bit of a monster when he's on song. That said, even if you're hitting every inject, which you pretty much need to without auxiliary hatches, surely that intensive attention to that takes away from your time spent positioning army/spreading creep etc?

Last game I think the problem was that HyuN wanted to save gas for BL and built lings instead of roach, which insta drained all his larva. More of a bad decision than macro hatch problem.

it's a won-won-won, a play on the word "won" which is parting's first name, the past tense of "win", and the currency in Korea (literaly parting wins money)

Oh yeah that game I feel your assessment is definitely right. It's just a general query I've had for ages, I mean lategame PvT Protoss massively overbuilds production to insta-remax, whereas Zergs don't really add all that much in terms of additional production.

Dont give zergs macro tips! Nah but seriously, i think zerg macro is already getting out of control in top games now that we see top zergs have sick injects for entire games. I dont want to know what will happen when they have perfect injects for entire games. Same could be said about chrono. Maybe we will see some kespa players achieve this. Didnt follow BW but from what ive heard they are known to have very high apm.

I don't know, it appears that Zergs need to get tips off other races to play well. Tips such as 'don't leave your Greater Spire exposed to Warp Prisms' have really accelerated the growth of the things from Char.

Please please please do not go for that ridiculous mass Muta build here HyuN. I remember HyuN losing against PartinG in some IPLTAC3 game on EV because he went for the weirdest Bane-drop build that completely failed.

IPL consistently puts out phenomenal production. They're def my favorite tournament/league outside of GSL.

While I doubt that PartinG attends university at all, Koreans have a tendency to make some pretty silly names. HyuN's account name is the name of a politician in Korea.

Nope, and at the rate the games are moving at, it might never be used.

vouch. all other non-gsl tournaments and events should use IPLs production value as their role model.

If he was saving it for anything I would say it is BWC this weekend, 250k prize pool is massive.

The people tuned in to see Hyunstoppable force vs. unbeatable build. They did not tune in to see a fairly average PvZ series.

To be fair, Parting's execution and warp-prism micro while doing his push is pretty damn sexy

Jokes aside, he might be saving it for WCS. Maybe he's afraid of replays being leaked privately, or having more vods for analysis, who knows.
Nooooo. If only parting just attacked after he killed all the broods... He killed so many infestors and all of the broodlords, he coulda just pushed the spine wall with his collosus T___T
Man, I was really anticipating an epic series of games where the unstoppable force met the immovable object, but it just ends up being PartinG making weird decisions and not using his supposedly invincible build.

If he wanted to save builds, you save the ones everyone is not expecting you to do lol.
I'm expecting PartinG to just go for the weirdest builds against Sniper because he is so associated with WWW. I expect DT builds and some Stargate all-ins.

Yeah I'm kinda grasping at straws because what the hell Parting.
To be fair Parting has a bunch of Zerg to compete with if he comes out of RO16. Despite really looking forward to this series, can't blame him. Have to keep your ace an ace.
PartinG, just remember that SC2 Karma is a bitch. When you find yourself with loser's final against Sniper, and you try to reach for your soul, don't be surprised to find out it's not there anymore.
A little disappointing considering the storyline behind the two players, but hey, I guess PartinG had his reasons for not taking FC too seriously. HyuN continues his reign unopposed, and takes out one more player on his list.
The player that eventually beats Hyun will probably go top on sc2earnings.
Also, I really think such an exceptional performance, while he's got a fair bit of cash from it, merits something above that. I mean Life got a sword for being a Royal Roader, Hyun should get something sick as well
13 minute, 5 base, infestor max the new 12 minute max? It looked like Parting was going for a colossus attack before BLs but Hyun hit with his attack before the colossus production really kicked in.

Immortal all-in like he should have.
imo given the map distance and the immaculate macro hyun had that game hyun would have a shitload of ling/roach to rape any soultrain parting dishes out. at the same time easily transitioning to bl/festor. sad but the truth

I would love it if IPL gave HyuN something special at IPL5, like a trophy or some certificate of recognition for reaching such a milestone which I doubt any other player could reach.

As I said before, I doubt PartinG will really need to hide the WWW considering that everybody is associating him with it. Plus, he only has Sniper in his Ro16 group who really should not be too challenging in a PvZ for him.
Ye gods, when will it end? I thought for sure Hyun had nothing to beat Parting's soul power, but I guess Parting decided that... errr... well I really don't know what he decided, but it had better be worth about $1800 bucks to him! So now that Parting's gone, anyone know a guy who could has a good shot to beat Hyun come next week? ZvZ is a no go, he beat Life. Can't say there are too many worthy Terrans left, either. Does Rain have anything on his schedule Monday next week?

I believe they said Leenock is next, that's about an equal challenge to Life.

Hm, he needs an incentive to get back to his former glory, taking out Hyun and making some lovely money might be that motivator!
I do feel MMA will get back in shape regardless though, maybe wait until his team situation is sorted and once that's settled he could have an epic showdown against Hyun (presuming he's still king of fight club then)
Does it even matter at this point? Regardless of who they pick, Hyun's just gonna come rollin' in every Monday to pick up his weekly paycheck. Soon, that bounty will just be a fantasy. Hyun club for life.
HE UNSTOPPABLE. So, could we say that PartinG threw the match by not using the wonwonwon? I think yes. He decided that the match wasn't important enough to let his future adversaries in GSL have another opportunity to study his build.
I'm pretty sure Korean zergs have already figured out how to stop the wonwonwon fairly reliably, hence Parting not using it. It doesn't make sense that he wouldn't be trying his best to win this.
Just watched the VODs and the games were kinda disappointing. Definitely expected more out of PartinG and a few immortal all-ins. All in all, Hyun still beasting it up in IPL FC and whoever is able to take him down will have a nice bounty reward.

Only Hyun can knock out Hyun after the player reset.
lol, this kind of dominance could never be achieved by a protoss. design-wise P and T are too volatile in comparison, and thats what bores me with sc2 and it's the reason why i hardly watch this game anymore..
it's even frustrating to watch, i can't imagine how frustrating it must be/have been for parting. GG tho.
Would be interesting if they have some spare time during IPL5, do some kind of video production - Hyun Fight Club, but instead of SC2, they have them do something like DDR. (Suppy could win there.)
