The time has come for our fortieth IGN Pro League Fight Club! This is a weekly king of the hill showmatch series. Basically, there will be a 1 vs. 1 best of 9 showmatch each and every week, where the winner will earn a $500 prize and a $100 bounty on their head. For example, if a player wins three weeks in a row they will have earned $1,500 and a $300 bounty. If a NEW challenger defeats him, they will earn $500 for the showmatch, take the $300 bounty home, and have a new $100 bounty placed on their head for each week that they win.
When: Tuesday, Nov 06 12:00am GMT (GMT+00:00) (we will also broadcast the match repeatedly afterwards!)
TSL's HyuN is a ridiculous human being. He has now won Fight Club for twelve weeks in a row! He defeated reigning MLG and GSL Champion Life 5 - 4 last week to add another head to his wall! His additional victims include IPL4 winner, aLive, IPL4 runner-up Squirtle, and GSL Semifinalists FXO.GuMiho and ByuN.Prime and Liquid`Sea. Can finale finally take down HyuN and claim $500 and an amazing $1200 bounty!
TSL.HyuN
MVP.finale called Hyun out on Twitter (). On the Fight Club stage, can he draw the curtains on Hyun's monologue and bring a fitting finale to this incredible story?
HyuN < Metropolis > finale HyuN < Entombed Valley > finale HyuN < Ohana > finale HyuN < Atlantis Spaceship > finale HyuN < Cloud Kingdom > finale HyuN < Antiga Shipyard > finale HyuN < Daybreak > finale HyuN < Whirlwind > finale
Congratulations to HyuN on his lucky 13th win at IPL Fight Club!
I had a dream where someone had to drop out of IPL5, IPL gave HyuN his seed, and HyuN played his games with an IPL patch since they're pretty much his sponsor

Actually there is still an open seed, isnt it? Or is it announced who is getting haypro's seed
Both players are in good form, but when it comes to IPL Fight Club, Hyun looks unbeatable. Especially after beating Life who just won GSL AND MLG. However, I think Finale will surprise some of us. I will say 5-3 Hyun.

Second of all: HyuN is going to dominate finale horribly. Sorry finale, you might be able to wonwonwon your way through Jaedong and DIMAGA, but HyuN is a different story in FC.

HyuN 5-2
Not to mention Finale has no soul - he's at the end of his days.
Correct me if I am wrong but did Hyun play Parting already? I remember Parting state on an interview that no Zerg could stop his immortal sentry all in during practice which worked 70 out of 70 times something like that.
I would like to see Parting try that on Hyun 5 games in a row to see if Hyun can stop it.
Seeing as he beat Life, next two-three weeks should be fodder to build up the streak. finale, Code S/Code A fringe player this week, probably a foreigner the next, and then a decent Korean/foreigner the week after before pulling out Parting or another top player.
Alright, can we just stop this nonsense? Hyun will obliterate Finale. Call in the big guns: MVP, Rain, Leenock (Life has already been done). One of them should be able to beat him. Or at least Flash, for some entertainment.

I believe parting is yet to play so he is an option but I think IPL are going to invite a terran to keep the races rotating and then another zerg before parting if they choose him. Why not fight TSL with TSL bring on symbol at some point.

I'm thinking finale is a precursor to Rain.
They want to remind us what Hyun can do to the average code S Protoss, and then bring in a champion such as Rain. It was hinted at after the Life series that they can actually get Rain probably, so they could be just working out details with Kespa or something.

Rain can't play in this, kespa exclusivity shit.
I really doubt they are going to make an exception.

Someone said this in an earlier FC thread and Kevin Knocke replied with something along the lines of 'Oh really?'
I did not watch IPL FC before but Hyun has a really cool story going on here as 60% of all his winnings are from Fight CLub :D. Also he is Ret's favourite zerg player, so I guess it's time to stay up and watch the epicness myself.
Imagine if Hyun keeps winning for the next year, and the prize pool for just beating him is at like 7000 USD... I'd imagine people would stand in line to play him for a chance at that money

And all would fail... This should be a good match-up but I think Hyun is a bit too strong for finale. Especially in Fight Club.

Hyun(and Yoda) have been considered the best of their races outside of tournament settings by their peers in korea, I'm eagerly awaiting their breakouts, some people play real bad under pressure. I'm certain nobody can walk over these 2 top tier players in the making when they get some more experience, and that seems to be happening now with Hyun dominating FC, and both of them advancing from their GSL group by taking the two top spots.
I dare speculate Rain saw his chances of getting out of a group with both of them not worth giving up MLG for and thats why he passed up this GSL season.

Don't under estimate Finale.... He stomped his up/down group and is a solid Toss player.

He and hyun played a series back at dreamhack stockholm which lives in eternal infamy for the viewers of it, it could be the worst ZvZ ever it features forsen getting his lings into hyun's drone line and hyun blocking his own lings out of his base with his queen and so many terrible misplays by both sides. My god that was terrible, one of them focus firing the neutral supply depot in the middle of a finely balanced ling/bane battle was a particular highlight.
EZ Hyun wins 5-1. Wonder who they will bring in next? They've already had so many great players play, maybe life or leenock time? although I'm sure they would prefer to avoid a mirror matchup bo9. Perhaps they could even bring in a kespa player to take him on. Flash Maybe?

Make one of those fake scammer advertisement banners with HyuN's face on it with the catchphrase 'I earn 500$ a week and all I had to do was play a video game and I could it from the comfort of my own home'
I'm really liking this triple Evo Chamber style, it gives him so much flexibility over having Lings, Infestors and Broods with ITs all heavily upgraded.

Their job is to commentate. The game wasn't close at all though that guys right. Casters should definitely make games exciting and stuff, and definitely talk things but, but when the game is like 90% in the favor of one person, acting like its close just doesn't really work . .. .

Hyun is abusing them very well, go in with your ling/roach army and dump all of your energy with IT's, trade cost efficiently by keeping your infestors alive and go back in to do it again when their energy regenerates.
The best chance Finale had to counter that style is to have a very good hold on one of the waves then counter attack while all the energy is gone.

Fair enough, they did over hype it. But I prefer the over hype to saying he's dead and then basically silence because the ycan't say anything else for the rest of the cast. Just my personal opinion.

I mean I know what you are saying, I even agree to an extent. I am fine with some embellishment for entertainment purposes/for the viewers.
That being said, when it is this much of a blow out, saying those things is just straight up false.. not just an exaggeration.
Especially when it is a best of 9, I'd prefer they talk about how finale could possibly change up his approach to the game for the next map, or what map choice he should make, etc. What you are saying makes more sense in a bo1 or end of boX, when there is nothing else left.. however in this circumstance I feel like they could talk about a multitude of different things that are not just straight up false/over-hype.

Game knowledge comes into as well, sometimes the casters misread a situation or just don't understand exactly what is going on.
I'd rather have people talk about come back's etc than 'he is dead, get out' all the time

Thinking outside the box.
If they send out any foreigner not named stephano or nerchio, I don't think the series goes to game 6... That being said I still feel HyuN beats both of them also. The only saving grace is the ZvZ which can be a bit more random, and the fact they are in my opinion the top 2 foreigners.
Hyun threw away so many units and then clumped up against a vortex. There is no excuse to get THAT many broodlords in a vortex other than calling it a mistake.

Meh maybe Hyun didn't use his energy perfectly but it's not like Finale engaged perfectly either. He could have spread his voidrays so they couldn't all get hit by 1 fungal the way Terrans spread their vikings. I'm sure there are other things he could have done too.
That was a fucking sick comeback, and the one time where it is appropriate for casters to go absolutely nuts and scream down the mic, we just see a calm and collected: "There are so many infested terrans, but finale kills the broodlords and pushes Hyun back... Mass carriers would be really good if Interceptors didn't cost money and/or you couldn't fungal interceptors. It's too easy to drain the Protoss' minerals by killing their Interceptors, once you get a lot of them caught with fungal they are all going down and you can't recall them to the carrier while fungaled.

You're right, I did forget about fungalling the interceptors so I'm not sure how well it does when the zerg does that. Hmm... the benefit to having the mass carriers is that you can vortex the corruptors (or infestors if possible) since those units are typically clumped up much more than the broodlords to begin with, and then fight the rest of the army while they are in the vortex.
God Kibbles constantly makes the ultimate caster mistake of claiming someones going to roll a fight and then when they get destroyed, changing their tune immediately. It implies more knowledge than you have. He's entertaining enough without pretending.
I'm Platinum and could see that fight wasn't going Hyuns way with the Stalkers fighting off the split off Roaches on the ramp and the long zealot line warp-in fucking up pathing for the roaches. I'm not saying he's worse than me but he can at least not pretend that Hyuns got this in the bag when he doesn't know either way.
edit: And now I find out Hyun had 1-0. I mean wtf, why even claim that shit.
Hyun didn't have time to get broods after his attack got slapped down, he had to make a bunch of roaches to avoid dying to the counterattack and because finale had an obs on hyun's army he saw the roach remax, realized he didn't have to attack and played patiently to take it

Maybe HyuN just didn't prepare for this weeks matches? He didn't have any Toss in his Code S group and only 1 in his up/down group so in the last couple of weeks he probably hasn't been playing/practising much ZvP? Sounds like a lame excuse but it's the only reason I can think of..

lol this seems to be a popular theory amongst alot of u guys, theres no player that dicks around in a competitive match

Remember CoCa vs ByuN? Purely dicking around there, with CoCa absolutely throwing away a game he was completely ahead in because of friendship. Now HyuN may have simply not been in form that day, but with the consistency that HyuN has in ZvP, you would expect better from him.

Wat.
Korea still loves wow so much, also apparently the prize pool for the wow side of BWC is 190k USD lol

Are you serious? That's an extremely specific situation.

That's kinda crazy, I'm pretty sure WoW as an e-sport died at the end of the Wrath of the Lich King expansion and it has only been in Blizzard tournaments since. Wouldn't have expected such a huge prize pool for it.
Will be interesting to see what kind of viewer numbers it gets.
HyuN continues his streak, but not exactly the best way to continue. The series only went 5-3 mostly because of HyuN's mistakes rather than finale's play. Hope HyuN doesn't make such errors against PartinG, because PartinG is on a different level from finale.

Yep, most of the qualifiers were held before the latest expansion even came out, will be interesting to see numbers with china/korea having teams there I believe.

finale>parting in overall skill but parting is a shameless 2base immortal alliner so i could see him winning, wouldnt be surprised if he immortal allined 9 games in a row

Parting knows the best way to play PvZ, can't fault him for that.

Wait... people actually think that Hyun may have been dicking around and giving Finale games? I always thought that people were saying that as a joke...
Your example is terrible too... CoCa was already qualified for whatever the winner got for winning that specific tournament (Code A spot I believe) so it was much different... plus Byun may have given him the money for winning anyway since Coca threw it...
Gg Finale, but it seems that Hyun's pretty unbeatable in Fight Club. His ZvP didn't actually look overly impressive though, I think Parting may stand a fair chance next week.
So Hyun can beat veterans and newcomers. He can defeat the best of zerg, terran and protoss. He has beaten life, and rolled over old gods. But can he beat... soul power???
I give up. There is officially no one out there that can stop HyuN
May I ask why you came to this conclusion after he defeated Finale of all people? (preferably without making a pun with the word "finale.")
maybe IPL tries to pull some superstitious stuff, sacrificing the player named "Finale" in the hope that he will be the last victim. Yes they are that desperate

Does anyone else think it seems kind of pointless to not give anyone a second shot at Fight Club by now? It's been running for a year now; I'd have no problem seeing MC or Taeja or whoever again..
Although if they're making progress getting KeSPA involved that's pretty cool I guess.

They said people will be able to come back after a year has past, which is apparently still a few weeks away.

A cool little tournament IPL can throw around is a seeded tournament based on IPL FC with the highest win players seeded further into the bracket, or in this case HyuN seeded to the finals

Eventually Hyun's opponent makes his way into the finals and IPL says to him "lol just kidding, Hyun already won"

If the players are good the games can be good. MLG finals, IPTL MVP v ST.

ZvZ can be really good sometimes. DRG vs. Effort, WCS Korea comes to mind.

Wow ! finale managed to beat infestor broodlord with a nice composition and flank in game 4 ! the vortex did it, but still, its impressive. will protoss finally find a way to fight against infestor gglord ? :D

Life v Leenock was really exciting this weekend as well imo.
Or maybe that was just the good casting and it being the first MLG I've watched all year.

Ok This is getting ridiculous. Hyun is definitely a monster, and seeing him demolish player after player as week passes is a treat. I've yet to see these matches, but the ZvZ last week Vs Life was great.
That series had some great games to it..... It was sort of sad to see Finale make those critical mistakes in the first two games with the ling run by in one and marching his immortals/sentries out in a nice spread out line to be crushed by lings and a few roaches in the least cost efficient engagement ever in the other. It seemed to throw him off his game and he played scared for much of the remaining games.
It actually seemed to me that Finale was the better player in a lot of those games, but Hyun managed to find the tiny chink in his armor often enough to take the series. Hyun certainly seemed to handle the immortal sentry all-in pretty effectively though!
All in all, Hyun is a pretty fantastic player that seems to absolutely thrive on this best of 9 format.
Hyun is pretty damned good. Here's a list of players he's killed: Squirtle: Code S/A Major, solid foreign terran Crank: Code A Tear, Korean, hasn't made Code A I don't think, but close (could be wrong) Grubby aLive: Code A/Code S ByuN: Code A/Code S TitaN: a top foreigner protoss GuMiho: Code A/Code S Sea: too soon....they should've given Sea a few more months before throwing him in here.. Brown: PvZ specialist, code A/code S Life: GSL champ.. Finale: Code A/Code S
That's a pretty damned solid line up of players. That's the first time I actually took a look at the list...he's played and beaten a very solid mix of foreigners, veterans, and up-and-comers.
I think PartinG is a great choice to put against Hyun....he seems pretty confident about his PvZ...then again...so did finale!
God talk about endurance champion! When I watch Hyun play I get the voice from the old Street Fighter Alpha 3 announcer saying "Can anyone stop this fighting machine?"
I was just reminded of that joke from Rotterdam made a while back, might have been NASL's king of the hill, but I thought it was Homestory V.
He started calling it "Nerchio's ZvT Practice for Money", but Nerchio had only beaten 4 terrans in a row. If anything we should be renaming FC to be HyuN's Practice for Money. Much less of PyuN than HyuN Club...
