It's much more fair than single elimination as it reduced variance. By the way, MLG shouldn't structure the tournament so that more entertaining players succeed, they should structure the tournament so the BETTER player succeeds. It is much harder for T and P to repeatedly bash against a Z, therefore making a longer BO series favorable for Z always. Random Z cheeses aside, Z can play standard 5 games in a row and merely needs to defend cheesy early/midgame attacks to have the strongest late game compo in the game. Considering the low number of builds that can kill Z before they reach late game, a long BO series in the current balance-state doesn't actually indicate fairness in the tournament format due to the fact that eventually the opponent of the Z needs to play macro at a lategame disadvantage. Although I don't share his rage, I do agree with bloodyrooster that seeing the rematches of the same people can be frustrating for viewers. (eg. Flash vs Life extended series)

Coming from the FG community where games are almost never balanced. It's really turns me off, when matches look lopsided because of elements within the design. Speaking for all races here. Needless to say I just skipped the finals. I have done this for a number of tournaments now. A balanced game is more enjoyable. This game is not balanced. For me this is the biggest reason I am not as invested. I just recently quit competitive fighting games for similar reasons. It's just not fun. You always want to see the most skilled player win, without any doubts. I can't say that currently. so... because you thought it was imbalanced... you didnt watch much.... and purposely skipped the finals, that was the only 100% balanced match up, because it was so imbalanceD?

Still the results are pretty good. Life is definitely a talented kid. Are there any vods available?

Bomber vs. Rain was apparently a super-good series. Both played insanely well from what I hear, with lots of heavy aggression from Bomber and a nailbiting ending to the second game. (Didn't see them unfortunately.) Games are available on Own3d. You need a premium pass to access some of them though.

Out of all my friends and I that were watching MLG, only I was watching SC2. The rest was either bouncing back and forth between SC2 and LoL, or watching just LoL. There is a LoL forum on here that has a thread about MLG. All three days combined for under 4k posts. Of course, this is primarily a Starcraft website, but your anecdotal evidence doesn't really mean anything.

I don't think Leenock built a single Broodlord in his semi Final. Bomber got crushed by Roaches and please don't tell me Roaches are op in ZvT... They're not! On the other hand, there's Life who DID build BL/Infestor, but the games were over before that. Zerg just has some difficulty to end a game without those units, even if they have an advantage - and Life completely outclassed Flash and inflicted terrible amounts of damage to Flash before the "unstoppable army" was out. In fact, not a single map in the semi finals was a "routine Brood/Infestor win" (Ok, maybe one between Life and Flash). Both matches, the Zerg played terribly agressive and just completely destroyed the Terran from early to late game. Nothing to whine about tbh. If the Terran loses everything (army or SCV's... Sometimes both) over and over again before Brood/Infestors are out, you should really not whine about this unit composition. There might be some Zerg who play terribly boring, but Leenock and Life are definitely not.
