They both played pretty solid overall, Flash mixing up bio and mech styles and showing off some insane macro and good unit control and Rain doing really well with his timings and warp prism play, his patient PvP was extremely boring but still effective Flash was looking really good until he got clowned by Life in the losers' semifinals, Life completely picked him apart with constant ling and muta aggression during that series. Also Rain somehow lost 0-2 to Bomber, I don't understand how that happened e: Flash did make a shitton of mistakes in his match against Naniwa though before regaining his balance, dropping games to a bunch of weird cheese builds. His understanding of SC2 isn't quite there yet

Same thing happened with Bomber, Naniwa beating Flash. The way guys like Leenock win is by continuing to care even when everybody else stops. The games don't look like two players playing their hearts out, it turns into games where one is just fed up with playing their opponent, making for some incredibly dull matches. It makes sense for a championship to have 7 games, but it was not fair giving Leenock & Life or even Bomber "second" chances. The tournament would have turned out so much more entertaining and I hope you hear me out MLG. You need to consider reformatting in a way that more entertaining players succeed and don't have to rematch that player 30 minutes later. Horrible structure and tournament. This is the reason popularity is dropping in SC2. Nobody wants to see Leenock & MC outlast players. We want to see Flash beat Life and then hold onto that victory. Or even Naniwa taking out Flash. Stop destroying esports MLG, learn how to structure a good tournament. Learn from football or hockey or even baseball. NOBODY WANTS TO SEE PLAYERS PLAY THE SAME DAMN PERSON 30 MINUTES LATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is the stupidest post I have ever read.. First of all its called a double elimination bracket. It's much more fair than single elimination as it reduced variance. By the way, MLG shouldn't structure the tournament so that more entertaining players succeed, they should structure the tournament so the BETTER player succeeds.

Also, Flash vs. Naniwa was an amazing match (the only other match that was arguably more exciting was the finals).

No. The interesting thing about balance discussion using tournament results or even winrates is that it is always confounded by player skIll and condition. Besides skill, condition itself depends on sleep, scheduling, confidence, whether or not be good today in bombers case. So, consider if we somehow had equal race representaion in pool play and the open brackets(false) . Let us also assume that each player is equally skilled and has a 50% chance to win each match. If you replicated this tournament 1 time, you could end up with a ZvZ final. If you did it 100000 times, you would end up with even amounts of every kind of final. Now, realize that races were not equally represented, and the skill and momentum of life and leenock made their chance to win much higher. Therefore, one final is not a legitimate reason to nerf zerg because it can be written off as variance, or because this tournament is not a true indicator of balance because it didnt control for any sort of variable./rannt

I could not watch the last day, unfortunately, as I was at work. All I could watch was Rain v Naniwa before heading off to work. I really wish Naniwa had played to his strengths of the early game in PvP and gateway micro by going for one base plays. But Rain played so solid. I'm not surprised to see him lose to Bomber though. Bomber, on song, has top tier TvP and people forget that he gets to practice against Squirtle and Parting. Kudos to the LR for keeping me periodically informed and entertained at work today - although, as it was busy, I did not get to browse as much as I would have liked! I'm not a fan of ZvZ, probably because I don't understand the MU. As a Protoss I enjoy PvP alot, especially when it is not or before it gets to Colossus wars. But given the comments in the LR, I'll definitely give the vods of the final a look when they are released. I'm also very keen to re-watch Naniwa vs Flash. That was a tense and exciting series. Also, some of the balance whine against Z may be misplaced. Sure, the Infestor may be OP, and I find fungal and IT irritating. But the last 8 was Terran heavy, and the final was Leenock vs Life who played stellar throughout the tournament and, by all accounts, in the final too. Might be better for the whiners to recognise two fantastic players than moan about their race. I'm also glad that the tournament seems to have been so successful. Especially at this time in the life of SC2.
