No one should treat unmoderated online communities seriously.
agreed, x10000 I don't understand why people take Reddit as more important measure of the community than TL.
Also
We really need to institute that rule about no posting pictures till then account has a certain number of posts and is a certain length old.
People on TL aren't better; the site is simply more heavily moderated. It works. If they were as hands-off as reddit, don't kid yourself: it wouldn't be much better on here.
obviously, but it is moderated, and I still think it would be better, cause it doesn't have the toxic karma system.
Well indeed if Wheaties was looking for sympathy or support, Reddit was not the right place to browse
Yeah, and it wasn't even that many people who were being douches. Wheat should just ignore them, as always.
This new MLG format really doesn't provide many good matches on day 1. You have a handful of matches from the groups, but a large part of the time is spent on the earlier rounds of the open bracket with pros beating people that just sign up for fun. At least in the old format, you had groups being played out continuously, with the OB games on some premium stream. But the new format doesn't allow for the groups to be played past round 1 until the OB winners are known.
This is awful casting decision making by MLG. First trimaster vs maxblack and now tubbythefat vs tod? There's only 2 streams compared to 4 in the past and they're wasting it on boring people.

family emergency. He had to leave.
I know that. He just said this on twitter though: "Thanks for the wishes. But a big fuck you to the assholes on reddit. You should be fucking ashamed of yourselves"
I suck at navigating Reddit. I looked at the starcraft page and didn't see anything.
Why on earth would he browse r/starcraft in a time like this?
What did Reddit say? Something trivializing the reason as to why he's leaving?
Hopefully everything turns out okay for him and his family.
some comments in the thread saying they hope his kid died etc
Oh, that sounds tasteful.
this thread would be exactly the same if there weren't mods.

r/starcraft is moderated too and mods actually label the posts pretty fast so you can easily filter content. Reddit's voting system isn't great for content but it does get rid of the worst posts easily. Too many times I visited LR's here on TL and it was even worse.

If there is one place where a person is looking for sympathy, Reddit (or any internet community with little monitoring) is not the ideal place.

There aren't really any interesting games going on other than the single group-game broadcast on Red. Blame the new format.

well said,
TTF is a hero of mine, if I ever go to an MLG he's the first dude I'm asking for an autograph
You seem to have a love of the "entertainers" and disregard the quality players
you seem to be cherry picking my posts, more worryingly though is the fact that you actually care about what i think
Nah just commenting on your professed love for MaximusBlack and TubbytheFat LOL, not that hard to hit quote and type out a 100 character sentence you know?

Which is why I'm happy that moderation exists here.
