A couple question (first LAN event, so may sound stupid): 1. Is anyone allowed to go to the LAN? I go to USD, and my friend goes to a community college, just making sure we can both go. 2. So I run an external monitor off of a laptop, so my setup might take up more space than a regular desktop would. Is this fine? 3. So I have never been to a LAN, other than participating in the sc2 tourny, what else is there to do? I mean if there are 64 computers in there I would assume they aren't all playing in the tournament games...? 4. Not really a question, just want to thank you guys for putting this on! I have been looking for eSport type events in SD for a while (may or may not be a huge eSport nerd )!
|
i hope i get to play UMvC3 :D
|
Good luck to all those in the tournament!

Hi babyhands! Yay USD!
Yes, anyone is allowed to come! Both of you can definitely participate in all tournaments and activities. This event is open to the community.
Hmm, it should be okay. We can find a way to accommodate.
Sweet, hopefully it'll be a great experience! Aside from participating in the Starcraft 2 tournament, we'll also have a Street Fighter and Marvel vs Capcom tournament you can enter (even if you're not great at it!). There'll be a fully equipped Rock Band set up with 600+ songs. We'll also have a bunch of the newest games (Halo 4, Black Ops 2, etc.,) available to play all day long, with a dash of side tournaments. You can enter our raffle, and interact with Sponsors who will have their own booths to give away goodies! And then there's the PC gaming and console gaming going on all day long!
You're welcome! :D -- We're all members of the community, and we love meeting other gamers and having great time together. Our goal with this event is to be more than a tournament: We want to provide a complete experience for the San Diego community, and LanDiego has given us a great opportunity to do so.
See you November 17!

Good luck, I'll be there!
|
good luck wish i could go but cant unfortunately

Biggest SD event ever!? :D
|
|
The only times I ever miss SD (living in Humboldt now) is when I get hungry and think about all the awesome restaurants I'd love to eat at and when I see threads pop up on TL about LANs and barcrafts in the area. Hope you guys have a great event.
|
See ya guys there! Go AZTECS!

Hey, when I went to register for my ticket, I noticed that it was 15$ for the BYOComputer and then an additional 15$ if we want to do console games as well. In the post you wrote "$20 entry fee will grant you entry into ALL tournaments, a spot for your computer, access to all our consoles, as well as food, snacks and drinks, and parking. It's a LAN Party, with tournaments!". I was wondering which one was correct? ._.. Thanks~

Hi Fabled!
Sorry, I'll edit the post to make that more clear. All you have to do is buy the one that pertains to you. If you're bringing a computer; buy the BYOC ticket only. It's so that we can keep track of how many spots have been taken up.
You will still have access to the whole event, no worries!

Is the League of Legends tourney actually 1v1? o_O

Yeah, we didn't have enough time to do a full-on 5v5 tourney for this one. We still managed to involve League of Legends though!

Hi, I'm interested in the tournament. I was wondering if we had to bring our own PCs? Also, there seems to be two options of tickets. Could someone explain to me what the difference is? Thanks

Hi Riddlez,
You may absolutely bring your PC. Make sure you buy the "BYOC" ticket, as that lets us know that you'll need a space for your computer.
The ticket options are: BYOC if you're bringing a computer, "Gamer" if you will not be bringing a computer. Only buy one.

So if you just go to check it out, is it free?

Hi everyone!
We have officially sold out of BYOC tickets! The only remaining tickets are for console gaming.
Unfortunately, due to SDSU's fire code regulations, we must put a cap on how many people can be in the building. Therefore, we cannot allow any spectators in to the event if we hit capacity (which we are very close to).
Our stream will be the following: http://twitch.tv/sdsuesports -- Use this to watch our Starcraft matches live throughout the day.
PARKING: Please park in Parking Structure 5, right next door to the Parma Payne Goodall Alumni Center.
Remember to bring: Your PC or your Fight Stick. We will provide all the ethernet cables and power strips (not power cords!).
See you all tomorrow at 12pm! Tournaments begin at 1pm!
|
Since this is today, can someone please update the TL calendar to point to today at 12pm instead of yesterday? Would help get exposure
|
Update: I'm at the event. They've had a few technical issues and are still setting up, but the tournament should be underway soon.
|
12pm? its 3PM and the games haven't even started.
|
Stream is now live, first game is BlackRa vs. Stardust.
|
After all of the technical issues, power shortages, and disconnects the tournament is finally happening! Stream is live, with BlackRa vs SsonLight! Epic matches all around :D
|
|
Hi everyone!
Thank you everyone for coming down and hanging out! We hope you had some fun, got some great matches in, and maybe got a chance to gauge your skills against SsonLight.
For those of you that came down, we apologize about the first 3 hours. Whoa was that a rough start! The worst part was that the solutions were incredibly simple, but due to University regulations (they need to send an engineer to flick a breaker back on) they were 100x lengthier to solve. We're happy things got underway soon afterwards.
This was our first time doing an event like this, and we can guarantee we'll have another one next semester. We will take every bit of this event, reflect on it, and find ways to make it funner and more efficient, with a bigger prize pool .
Brackets will be updated tonight, pictures and videos will be updated as well! https://www.facebook.com/sdsuesports
If you have any feedback, please shoot me an e-mail at info@sdsuesports.org . I was the guy running around with the mic.
|
