The time has come for our thirty-fifth IGN Pro League Fight Club! This is a weekly king of the hill showmatch series. Basically, there will be a 1 vs. 1 best of 9 showmatch each and every week, where the winner will earn a $500 prize and a $100 bounty on their head. For example, if a player wins three weeks in a row they will have earned $1,500 and a $300 bounty. If a NEW challenger defeats him, they will earn $500 for the showmatch, take the $300 bounty home, and have a new $100 bounty placed on their head for each week that they win.
When: Monday, Oct 01 11:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00) (we will also broadcast the match repeatedly afterwards!)
TSL's HyuN is basically just unstoppable at this point, winning seven weeks straight against amazing opponents including our IPL4 winner, aLive, and the IPL4 runner-up, Squirtle. This week, FXO.GuMiho is stepping up to the plate to take a swing at the $500 prize and $700 bounty of TSL.HyuN!

Sorry I really don't think GuMiho will be easy money. While I do agree some of his previous matchups (aka the foreigners) were mismatched, GuMiho can definitely beat HyuN on any given day if he brings his A game.

U misread it. Ksquared said STOP giving Hyun easy money
Oh yay, Gumiho, should be in for some ridiculously long games =D. I don't know who to root for though, hopefully this will be a close series but I can see either player making it 1 sided if they're having an off day.
On October 02 2012 04:12 Gatesleeper wrote: With the memory of 5-1 Major and 5-0 Alive fresh in my mind, I fear for Gumiho here.
I think HyuN will win.. but it will not be anywhere as one sided as those series. Major is good but not at Gumiho level good and though alive can be on the right day, things just didn't go his way that night... I expect a 5-3 or 5-4 for HyuN with a couple of crazy close games.
ooh oohh, this should be awesome. I probably favour Hyun in this, but even then, its in no way easy money. Gumibear could go all GSTL finals on Hyun to kick his ass.
I think it's unfair to say Hyun got easy foreign challengers. Titan, Major, and Grubby might not be on the level of Stephano, but they're still good foreign players. Unless you're making the argument that any non-Stephano foreigner is a free win, in which case you may have a point...
But even then, previous defending champions got a fairly similar mix of foreigners and Koreans to face (HerO got DIMAGA and ThorZaIN in a row, Squirtle got Vortix and illusion, etc.), and it's to Hyun's credit that he defeated all of the Korean challengers that came along, unlike the others, so he's fully earned this streak.

Lol that's exactly what he was saying.
Gumiho has a decent shot. But I was never too impressed with his TvZ...I always saw him as a TvT genius.
Hyun has dropped one map to a Terran during his entire run so far (He's 10-1, thanks, Liquipedia). Gumiho has amazing TvZ. This will be great to watch.
Gumibear is a monster and has a bit more GSL pedigree, but Hyun's really looking good too. Quite on the fence with who I'm rooting for, but expecting a great series
Much better fungals from HyuN the second time... T_T Gumi was up on bases, which usually means you're behind against zerg these days since zerg has been focusing on tech and army instead.
Still, Gumi gets HyuN's fourth, and has two bases running still. HyuN long distance mining but imba army.
2 bad calls by gumiho, 20 marauders and REALLY bad engagement. He choose to fight at the smallest ramp possible for his last army. In the fight before he bunched his 20 vikings into a single fungle....
Not sure why he ignored the 4th of hyun after he held the middle as well, he could have taken it out with that marine force.
And that's why Ghost ain"t that great. Huge investement, and most of the time the zerg player can still get the 2 or 3 crucial fungal so it didn't matter that much.

cut that number down from 10+ which is pretty important

Not worth the ghost tech imo. Start the air transition, or just get more production capacity. Ghost never seems worth the trouble since the nerf.

well if you're already building marauders you have tons of barracks with tech lab, total investment is 300/300 (?) for the ghost tech. I still think they are pretty underrated even after the nerf.

I think he means that they was partnered and therefor played against each other a lot. At least I hope that's the case because it was quite awhile ago they did split
It's a safer varient than the build he used against Sniper in the U/Ds. Was hoping for the 4 cc 3 port tank build. I feel like it'd work better here than on Antiga. Shame he didn't wanna die

Yes, it's a matter of opinion. I can't disagree with your taste. But personally, I am in passionate love with mech, so this phase of the TvZ metagame is quite enjoyable to me

Yeah. Definitly a matter of taste. Still trying to win with marines on ladder. And I can still count on Polt to try Bio until he don't win any game at all with it so I'm fine. :<

Well, the other option is to open rax fast expand and transition into being Taeja. That works too.
I'm zerg by the way, and yes, I've started losing a whole ton of ZvTs on ladder. It was good times when a lot of terrans were doing half-hearted 2 raxes and then saying "zerg op" and ragequitting. But I actually don't mind losing because it's quite exciting to encounter all the varieties of mech coming up now. It's a lot more fun to lose to mech than marine tank

Yeah funny, HyuN does well against Thors, Banshees and Tanks, but once Hellions are involved, he falls apart. Maybe he had some traumatic experiences with Hellions before 0_o

Maybe he's seen some Lucifron hellions. You can't unsee that kind of slaughter. It scars the soul.

Hellions are like a game of russian roulette. You point at the drones and simply keep rolling the cylinder until something goes nasty.
Anyone getting an ungodly amount of lag? Even on 240p it is near unwatchable.
I think it would have suited GuMiho better to stick with Mech, it worked for him when he did it, and CK is a good map for Mech. Every time people go Bio/Tank against HyuN, he can swat it fairly easily I notice.
Gumiho let Huyn got away after killing drones man. Should have gone straight to tanks and burst Huyn's 4th base at around 14 mins, but decided to turtle instead.... Damn shame.
LOL Gumiho is a hero omg! Even though he won I have to say that roach remax after the battle is pretty ridiculous, Hyun could have went straight into his main and killed him, all he had was useless Vikings.
Can't believe Hyun didn't win with the Roach switch.
Why go for the mining when you can kill the production? Makes no sense to me. He should have won the game from that point - that's the big danger of SkyTvZ if you don't have BC's.

Wasn't he already remaxing on banshees? I'm not entirely sure. But I wonder if Hyun could really realistically have reached the main production line, tucked away like that, with banshee DPS thinning out the roaches.

He did have a metric fuckton of Queens still left, so it was perhaps possible. Didn't want him to win with the roachswitch so was quite happy he chose to go after the mining bases!

It's very possible even with like 3-4 BCs along with 5-6 banshees. The roaches are so insanely beefy that if gumiho hadn't taken out all of hyun's economy/bank he would have lost 100% of his production/supply depots to that army and then died to mass infestor or something
gumiho had the islands and had completely stopped hyuns mining for a while... even if he went straight for production gumiho could have just lifted and eventually rebuilt

Why do you see the need to call Targa fat, ofc if it's matter-of-fact rather than malicious that's not a big deal at all.
Yeah though, such points get a bit obnoxious, fed up with balance whining, even the stuff I agree with!

No malicious intent, I wanted him to lose because he represents the gamer stereotype of laziness and unhealthiness. These stereotypes are a big reason why people look down on gaming and I am unable to share one of my greatest interests with my friends.

I don't think Targa fits that stereotype as he used to do powerlifting (not sure if he still lifts).

Likewise, 'gamers are a bunch of sex-starved nerds'. I try to claim otherwise and all people need to do is pop on google and search 'gamer girl' and I can't really do much to disprove them

The real question is not who will beat Hyun, but how much money mopney Hyun will make before Fight club just shuts down and IPL goes bankrupt from all the nerds Hyun slayed

IPL will pay $600 each week no matter who wins, streak or not. Hyun helped IPL to delay the payment several months to earn interest, pretty good for IPL if Hyun continue winning. lol

That seems like a terrible reason not to share an interest. if you show them and they dont like it then its unlikely to be because of a problem with fat gamers, unless you have become morbidly obese since you started gaming, in which case targa being fat would not be the problem. and if they seriously refuse to accept gaming as a hobby just because some pro gamers are fa, then you should really find new mates

How can you say so? He hasnt even played many games.
In GSL he only lost two times to By.Rain who is owning everyone else now. In IPLTac he beat Curious and lost to Bomber. He won his IPL5 Satellite over Heart. In IPTL he won vs Polt and Shine as the ace player. He lost when First allkilled Prime.
