Good god what a group. Probably won't result in any crazy tiebreakers like yesterday, but I can't imagine this one not being satisfying. Everyone deserves code S and literally any combination of players sounds like a good match to me.
I both hope and expect: Life, Violet to get code S.
Life more than anyone I hope, as I've expected him to be one of the great Zerg's of the future for some time now. He needs to go join Symbol in code S. Was the next great player to be poached from Zenex too before the entire team got assimilated by Startale xD.
Hm, I was watching viOlet stream the other day and his manager said he wouldn't be playing the Up and Downs, his plan was to focus on foreign tournaments. Wondering why GOM hasn't made the announcement...

Maybe he's actually there?
Yeah I am really confused. I thought it was certain that viOLet wasn't playing in the Up and Downs, but nothing has been said about it at all. He went back to Texas after MLG.

Up/Down Matches play K-pop before the matches it's what I do because people want to know what they are. You can check the other Up/Down threads.
I wasn't checking the thread actually or else I would have, for it to stay relevant to the timeline of the playing of the song I post a new post for it yes unless there wasn't anyone talking but I assumed people would be so my fault for that I suppose.

He is just posting the links of the songs played on the stream so people can watch them again if they want to, I guess he could edit his initial post tho, doesn't really matter though!

lol? This is always done. If it isn't then there are always people asking what the current song is, and as it is we even still get people asking about songs played here over at KMD. -_-

I think violet treat the supposedly prestigious GSL seed like shit. He should be banned from GSL imo. You cant just be like 'foreign tourney ftw, fuck gsl'. If it's so, he should have not participated last season

He played out the season he got seeded into. Although I kind of agree, I never thought he would play GSL in the first place.

Hahaha lay off, you realize, chances are, he won't ever get a seed again, right?
Should he have had the foresight to realize he wouldn't want to play this season of GSL? Sure, maybe. But he took the seed, got to Ro16, did his time in Code A, finished Season 3, and that's it. Worse things have happened.

I think that you and many other BW-kespa fans have developed some sort of Stockholm Syndrome. An open league that will let you go play elsewhere and not penalize you is a good thing, not a bad one.
As for "Getting a seed"... Violet didn't get a seed into the up and downs, he got a Code S one last season, and as far as I know, most foreigners that get the seed leave Korea after one season (at this point Violet counts as a foreigner). GOM must know that, and they still give seeds to foreigners.
Personally, I support this because I would still rather watch a foreigner that is in Korea for 1 season than a bunch of Koreans that never come to foreign tournaments.

He never wanted one in the first place but iirc he had to go back to Korea anyway so why not give Code S a shot while there. Before getting that seed he said he had no interest in GSL and he obviously still does not.

I love how Life is completely off the hook, taking every risk in the book, finding every opportunity to be way, way too aggressive. And it even works. Fun to watch!
Whoever theSTC faces next, he will cheese. 99% positive. Which is why he is the only player I hope not to make out of this group. I have no quarrel with anyone else making it out of the group.
Fungal good spell. Stc took so long to build up a decent tank count (and his combat shields were very late too) so the infestors pretty much had free reign, and when Stc finally got enough tanks the brood lords were out.

If he was faster and more precise than the guy that has won GSL and 2 MLGs this year because he is fast and precise, then he would be god.
I was critical of Oz's overly greedy play from day 1. Why the fuck did he think he needed a 3rd at that point in game? Seriously? Same as in his game against STC.
Oz's success in the past was largely based on opponents' not catching his greedy plays. You can't expect people won't notice for so long.

DRG is playing horribly lately. Stop being a fanboy and maybe go watch his actual games. I said he's in better shape than DRG right now, which he is, regardless of what results DRG has managed to post months ago. Yes, months ago. I hesitate to even call DRG a Top 5 Zerg with his play lately.
All this without mentioning that Jangbi just got finished playing a finals for BW. He's atrocious at SC2. He and Fantasy are the two players with least SC2 practice time.

DRG has around 300 eAPM consistently. Just saying.

Massively? I think that would be a better word to describe MKP's slump.
LOL, blind drg fans ftw. dont deny fact, he is slumping terribly, i think even suhosin is better than drg atm

I like DRG but have you seen his results recently? Only Oz of the players I keep an eye out for seems to be doing worse recently

DRG peaks at 600 apm, but ill just assume you are trolling or dont know english very well.
apm is related to speed, but doesn't imply it, mine hovers around 250, but I'm still a very slow player because most of it is spam and lacks precision which means I often have to do the same action multiple times, peaking 600 apm by pressing dddddd/zzzzzzzz or whatever doesn't say much.On another note, you should stop calling people trolls even though it's obvious that no trolling is involved, you should also stop resorting to ad hominem, both make it very hard to take whatever you say seriously.

Did you see Fantasy v. Nestea?
Yes, I saw Fantasy vs. NesTea. Fantasy floating 1k+ for the majority of the match and even banking up to 2k minerals @ 140 supply on three bases and then struggling to get his minerals under 1k for the rest of the match, even after he tried to spam CCs to use up his money. Sure, he showed some pretty dropshop harass, but any pro can dropship harass when they decide not to macro. He got lucky NesTea played like a foreigner that day. (Don't worry, would not put NesTea in Top 5 Zerg either, just in case you're offended.)

i think it is stupid to say that obviously hes hasnt been performing up to his standards lately but he got to ro4 gsl lost to mc and lost to leenock in gstl, which was the begining of his "slump". Would be hard to argue against drg being a top 3 terran even right now

How does MKP's form even come into it? DRG until recently had lost something like 5/6 series in a row in various tournaments, a relative slump for a player of his calibre

Last weekend in MLG thread I noticed IM_First's shaky PvZ against idra (we all know idra's ZvP) and said that we know not much about the guy so we need to reserve judgment. Well, to be frank I was a bit harsher - I said IM_First was nothing more than "toss of the month" until proven otherwise, considering the volatility of the weekend-format tournament.
I was immediately flamed by the mass - until his finals against Leenock, that was. Then people cried how shitty the finals were, how PvZ is imba, and how sucky IM_First was.
I mean, come on. One explosive tournament run, while admirable and praise-worthy, says nothing about the player's fundamentals.

He has only been playing SC2 for like 8 months, so he is definitely getting to be a pretty decent player! He beat a lot of note worthy opponents at both Arena and Championship, he also got top4 in both! Can't understand why some ppl seems to think he is bad?!

Because TL has a short memory, that's why...
Because he was overrated when he lost to Idra, then became one of the best players in the world when he beat HerO and then Taeja but then slumped when he played Leenock.

yeah just weird that both leenock and idra both are zerg huh? because no other pro has one bad matchup
I mean, what's the point of saying DRG is "slumping terribly" when it's been only one month since his results seem to be deteriorating ? Idk, maybe he just had some summer vacations ? Do you have to make such an argument about that ?

It's not one run, and if you've followed first, you'd realize how good he is and that he's still growing. First couple times he played taeja, taeja schooled him hard. However in MLG championships and tsl, first picked taeja apart.
Before MLG summer championships, First had already beaten leenock 2-1 in another tourney. Leenock just prepared for first better and exploited his faults.
If you're talking about fundamentals, it's pretty obvious that leenock is the more coinflippy player and is more willing to take risks than to rely on his fundamentals and mechanics. First will usually choose to macro and win through solid fundamentals than to use coin flippy builds.
Wow, I tuned in only to see that the stream was over, so I popped over here to check out recommended games. I have to agree strongly with everyone who voted 'da fuq' for game 1. I honestly don't know why anyone voted yes, clearly 'da fuq' is the correct answer.

One explosive tournament run, while admirable and praise-worthy, says nothing about the player's fundamentals.
first has had two great mlg's and seems pretty strong for being a new player
He has only been playing SC2 for like 8 months, so he is definitely getting to be a pretty decent player! He beat a lot of note worthy opponents at both Arena and Championship, he also got top4 in both! Can't understand why some ppl seems to think he is bad?!
Because TL has a short memory, that's why...
Because he was overrated when he lost to Idra, then became one of the best players in the world when he beat HerO and then Taeja but then slumped when he played Leenock.
Ahah so true . :D
i think it is really stupid of people to discount him because he lost to leenock one of the best zergs in the world, when pvz is clearly his weakest mu right now, u cant slump and be at your peak in one day lol

yeah just weird that both leenock and idra both are zerg huh? because no other pro has one bad matchup
But Leenock and Idra's weakest matchup is ZvP... Also, in korea, First's worst matchup is vT and his vZ is actually pretty good (beating B4, Coca, Revival in TSL4). So I guess his best and worst matchup switched when he flew over timezones...
Ryung like a boss. Really hope he continues to shine, he's been really good for so long but never really showed it outside or a few matches here and there. Glad to see him getting recognition.
