mOOnGLaDe isn't as dominant in the Aussie scene as he used to be. That said, he's still a safe bet. Other favourites are PiG, Mafia and tgun.

it's pretty obvious that moonglade will win. 2nd and 3rd place will be a coinflip between the rest of the players since they are all unknown

it's pretty obvious that you know nothing about the SEA scene.

And how the fuck is tgun an unknown? Seriously, how do so many people not know him? He played in GSTL, is on It's Gosu and used to be on FXO!

tgun is not an unknown per se, but to most people (non-SEA people) he surfaced a bit while on FXO then just kind of disappeared..

I see a lot of Zergs there. In fact I see only Zergs in all tournaments, eventually Toss here or there.
But where is Terran?

just so you know, Zerg has dominated SEA since the dawn of time, not a balance thing at all.

Traditionally, yeah, but lately - on ladder at least - I've been finding more Toss than Zerg. Still not a lot of terrans, though.

Stupendous job by ACL to set this up. Scoreboard is sexy, caster + game volume is great and crystal clear, stage looks really professional, nice lighting on the booths, free 720p, Moonglade looking handsome as ever, well done ACL and thanks to Blizzard for the support <3

Get ready for some ZvZ's! :D

First map i didn't have a proper build prepared, i only had 2 real builds.

2nd game on ohana, was so so close for a long time. I just didn't spend my money (had 2k after killing his main) then i got my colossus army stuck out of position, in front of my gateways instead of behind it.

Was a fun game and about as close as i could expect to do verse some of these guys.

I'll still have a game in the losers bracket up on stage later.

Excellent event. Blizzard and ACL have done an absolutely fantastic job at this venue.

Sweet. From the LR I saw on sc2sea, game 2 sounded insanely close. Excited to see you play later, best of luck. ^^

Only in the US people care so much about bad words on media tbh.
It's funny actually, in France when we have some americans guests on Tv, they usually said " You're in France now, you can swear all you want ! "

" I'm not gonna fight you. I'm gonna kick your ass ! "

What lost light this game was his failure to micro his collossus. He could have kept so much more if he focused on his unit control a little longer.

That and it seems like he forgot Psi Storm. He sent in a few HT's in those last fights, and a few good storms could've turned things around.

Impressed by Light though, didn't know SEA had someone who had been so high up on KR GM, pretty impressive that is.

Even high GM impresses me considering how many really amazing pros have multiple accounts taking up space in GM. :-P

Mafia must be some sort of hidden god though, how have I not heard of him if hes capable of rank 1 GM KR? >.<

Because these are the media/press interviews for the different websites and whatnot covering the event there and producing exclusive content and news. They aren't allowed to provide the interview audio.

@GTR
- What was the transition from BW to SC2 like? How about the long intervening gap between the two?
- How is he coping/comparing with the other players?
- Ask about him vs. Mafia game 2!

"this is just a test day"
"it shouldn't have been advertised as the starting day"
"games still count"
-ACLproSC2. Seems very confusing.

Topped with the whole "lets stream interviews we aren't legally allowed to broadcast the audio to" thing. I thought nothing could be worse than the korean wcs.

Early on in SC2 and during beta he was a more prominent player in Aus, competing in nationwars etc. How has his preparation changed from then? Is he still taking the game as casually as he did then? Is his play style still influenced by what he found intuitive back then or has he had to follow the meta-game more?

Without reavers and the shuttle, what are his favourite units to micro in SC2?

How does his experience at this major Aussie event compare with what Korea was like when he was a major part of the scene? What are the similarities, differences, things better/worse?

Is SC2 in Australia doing better or worse than he predicted in Aus/SEA?

Windy as all hell, and fairly gloomy. Strange considering it's been so sunny for a while now.

the commentary is like 1 minute behind for me and its lagging all the time, is this just me? because it's pretty unwatchable

edit: ok seems like that's only on 360p, 240p is fine, although it is 240p ._.

Can someone at the venue or someone who can contact people in charge of the stream at the site please tell them that the music sound keeps cutting in and out, game volume is TOO HIGH and drowns out the caster volume (caster volume is perfect by itself, just the in-game sound is too high) otherwise everything else looks good

God these casters are trying to predict so hard and fail everytime.

Thank you. It's kind of disappointing to see him lose like that, but then again Mafia is pretty damn good IIRC.

Then again, according to Liquipedia he won't be returning to progaming. =(

I wish GOM could give us the same quality as WCS Australia is currently. GOM's stream is 240p while WCS Australia is 720p?

I guess GOM has the leverage of the Korean players though.

Haha. It's kinda weird watching this kind of play too. I mean, I am very very very very very far from being pro level or even diamond level but I guess when watching pros play, I'm just used to seeing such great macro all the time.

Don't get me wrong though, SEA players are good as well. Hoping some of our locals can go on the world stage in WCG.

honestly from that failed drop as well as failed marine pressure, he shoulda lost right then and there when the stalkers counterattacked. letting the bunker go up was just bigbirds fault not sniping scvs. rather silly game.

This pretty much, really weak games, and the fact that BigBird and his teammates went into a cheering fest after such horrible games is just even more embarrassing.

This pretty much, really weak games, and the fact that BigBird and his teammates went into a cheering fest after such horrible games is just even more embarrassing.

Hey you seem like a cool guy. If you don't like it turn it off. Or at least stop whining.

I'm just hoping to see better games, it has nothing to do with "turn it off" maybe some good series will come eventually.

You all should respet the fact that most of these guys are unknowns and this might be the first time playing on a stage, they are likely to feel the preassure.

Also, this is a regional competion for Australia, ofcourse the competition will be less good then what we are used to see in MLG or w/e. It's not like they tricked you in to watching this.

And also also, what's wrong with sharing your joy over a victory? Emotional outbursts like that is extreamly fun to watch and even more pleasing to experience.

Please don't be so negative.

Lol this song almost sounds like Terra's Theme from FFVI, just because of a few extremely recognizable note progressions, but not quite.

But most of them aren't unknowns, I haven't even looked in the SEA scene for a few months and I can see 12 well known players.

Well... they have competed in many tournaments, albeit local ones, so pressure shouldn't be that much of an issue. That's more or less what I was trying to get at. As much as I hope, most people are only going to think of mOOnGLaDe and nothing else.

Sorry, I didn't mean to belittle their achivements but as a none-Australian I haven't heard about the vast majority of them before. And I watch a lot of starcraft.

Also, playing in a local or online tournament can hardly compare to this high-production world championship. Some of the seasoned players like legionnare or moonglade will be allright of course, but some of the others might get stagefrieght.. you never know There is nothing wrong with showing respect for them either way.

I suppose you're right. It would be increasingly difficult to deal with such a larger crowd than the smaller ones that most of players (who don't compete internationally) would be used to. That's a real shame, because it just means another obstacle that SEA players would have to hurdle to give it a real good go in this championship.

Sorry, i live in rural South Australia in Melrose (A farming community of like 120 ppl) and was working full time until like 2 months ago. Since then i was travelling and couldnt practice much so yes my play is sloppy but im working on it, cut me a break. As for the teammates coming in i was a huge underdog in this series and in any series this tournament, it is my first big event EVER and having thousands of people watch my play plus nerves means i didn't play my best, i would like to see you play in the same conditions. and they are all good friends as well as teammates. I understand it must seem rude and i apologise to iaguz but is it so wrong to show some raw and real emotion??

Don't worry. People aren't use to showing emotion by how de-sensitized we've become from the Koreans. You just keep being you brah, don't let anyone tell you different. You have every right to feel excited after a victory and in no way is that bad manner. gg bro.

Im sure it was just shock mate, anyone would have reacted the same if they just beat iaguz, one of the best players to grace the Australian SC2 scene. Congratulations.

I'm sorry didn't knew you are from a small farming community.
I understand your emotions now, since you never participated into a big event.

Again, i'm sorry, hopefully you'll be able to move into a big city and start practice, i'm sure you'll improve a lot in proper playing conditions.

They play starcraft 2 in their free time.
I had the same feeling about the games in general before I saw that some players that qualify to WCS Australia are players that work full time, and only play couple of games/ week.

Usually I expect to see good games in a WCS, but I guess it's not the same in all regions.

Couldn't even hide my excitement when Legionnaire advanced to the next round, haha. What a blast from the past man. I think everyone is quietly cheering for him (or loudly)!!

Yeah, Legionnaire has good charisma, while the other toss, frustration... not very smart to act like that in a local event.
Frustration played pretty average also tbh

That was an awesome day of competition.

Here's my wrap of the first day:

The first day of the Starcraft II World Championship Series in Sydney has come to a close, as the powerhouse of Australian Zergs dominate the competition.
Andrew Pender "Nv.mOOnGLaDe", Zerg, Jared Krensel "Tt.PiG", Zerg, and Bradley Seymour "GoSu.tgun", Zerg, join Yojun Yun "Nv.YoonYJ", Terran, safely in the fourth round of the upper bracket.

It appears almost certain that we will see a Zerg in the final, coming from the upper bracket. However dont count Yun out just yet. He fought a tough 2-1 match to beat Lei He "iM.MaFi", Zerg, arguably one of the best current Australian Zerg players.

Whilst the odds certainly are against Yun, if he can take Pender out in the next round he will be in spectacular form to dominate the competition. Unfortunately Pender, the most well known Zerg in Australia is yet to drop a game. This Zerg versus Terran match surely is a game you cannot afford to miss.

This pretty much, really weak games, and the fact that BigBird and his teammates went into a cheering fest after such horrible games is just even more embarrassing.

Dont let the haters get to you. GG
