I think it might be more of a matter of European schools teaching received pronunciation. At school you learn british english but you don't learn to speak with a british accent. In my school we were always learned to pronounce like britts, but can't speak for all of europe lol.
Yeah I think it's pretty normal in Sweden. I have had four different english teachers in my life for an example, all of them studied in England and they had british pronouncement and then it catched over to us because that was what me and the others in my class learned. I just think it's pretty normal for english teachers in Europe to have been over in the UK somewhere to study.
