Anyone else get a deja vu when they're talking about Nerchio having to win 2 games and the series to survive and knock out the third guy contesting for the qualifying spot? I'm sure the exact same thing was said earlier, possibly in this tournament?

Is it technically possible that Nestea purposely loses to Nerchio here to eliminate aLive, who is likely to be a fiercer opponent than Nerchio in further rounds of the competition?

Nothing quite like purple/red in a ZvZ.

why would nestea purposely lose to let a forgeiner into top 8 and eliminate his fellow korean?

Nerchio's ZvZ is quite good, very intelligent and calculated decision making.

Because he wants to win?
Plus, Nerchio is Z, and the more Z, the merrier for "ZvZ Master but mediocre ZvT" Nestea.

Edit: Not that I'm questioning Nestea, I did formulate the hypothesis before the game started afterall. That's quite unlikely, but I think it's possible nonetheless.

You see the difference in mechanics, though - Nerchio floating ~2.5k minerals during that fight.

Don't think games are even casted in the same order they were played so I think not.
And Nestea will be 2nd in the group if he loses.. Meaning he has to play MMA (He does not want).

Well, NesTea is a full-time pro, which Nerchio isn't. It would be strange if they had the same level of mechanics.

He was sitting at very high minerals most of the game.

Noticable lag for NesTea, losing a ton of units not responding quickly enough. Still, wp by Nerchio, taking a macro game off Nestea isn't easy, no matter where he plays from.

i really doubt that a pro player would do something like that, not only because of sportsmanship but also because it doesn't seem right to trust in a tiebreaker situation like that. these type of group stages are really complicated with mapscores, direct results etc. and each tournament doing it a bit differently.

Do we have any word on how the ro8 matchups will be determined? is it like 1st in group 1 plays 2nd in group 2 etc? or random?

Nerchio isn't full-time? Is he in school?
