Double elimination is extremely standard?
Yeah, but I think what he's getting at is that the fairness of giving the WB winner an advantage should be reconsidered because it makes for a poor finals. Having both players start off fresh and having only one bo5 would make for a better final than two bo5, even though it is less 'fair'.
It's a lot less fair and I don't think that it's worth making that kind of sacrifice for a more even final. This is a crux of double elimination, but you can't just give everyone a shot at double elimination except for the player who performed the best in the tournament.
If you don't want the double Bo5 finals then I'm fine with single elimination tournaments but I absolutely do not agree with removing double elimination at the last minute just to force a closer final.
the advantage is that you played a dozen less games and makes the finals more interesting.
The disadvantage is that it's not fucking fair to the winner's bracket finalist who only gets to drop one series while everyone else in the tournament gets to drop two. That's a pretty big fucking disadvantage.
If it wasn't double elimination, Alive would have potentially won already.
That's a decision every tournament needs to make for itself, right? Whether or not upholding the fairness of double elimination is more important than the potential of a terrible final
Sure, I guess... That's not really something I was contesting. I was just giving my opinion on the subject.
I really like that aLive is just throwing up standard play in all of these games, aha 5 rax after 17cc, this is like the only build he uses on ladder. I'd wish he'd stream more though so I don't have to go through his match history to see
edit: lol to whoever said aLive doesn't scout. The base was literally black in both of MMAs games, didn't see MKP

He is probably running out of gas and had to play pretty quickly after the Nestea series.
I don't think you can use that as an excuse. Squirtle had practiced aggressively for both the GSTL finals and this tournament. In other words, he clearly has the endurance to play two sets. Especially, when Korean pros play 8-10 hours on average.
Side note: If this was a foreigner vs a korean (squirtle) in the finals and he was down 0-2 the excuse would be that he's "jetlagged" lmao.
lol. Like a foreigner would be able to make it this far, or be up 2-0 in a championship series.
If I remember well, that what's stephano did on IPL3

how would single elimination make these games anymore exciting? double elimination has just as much chance for a boring and/or exciting finals.
I totally agree that single elimination is the way to go, it gives much more room for unknowns to advance further and for upsets to happen anywhere. That's exciting for me.
But if you're going to opt for double elimination you have to play it all the way out. Otherwise you're turning your tournament into a reality show where the end result is borderline scripted. That's unacceptable.

You completely missed the point. The point that I was trying to make is the fact that this community comes up with so many excuses.
Also, you never know. Anythings possible unless it were Brood War.
