Exactly this. What a disappointing final matchup.

One more game for Alive, six more for Squirtle.

IPL used double elim format, it's super effective...

It's IPL4. Of course there has been "some" downtime. =/

Commercials between every match, long delays between sets even though there are 4 booths (2 for the current match, 2 for players on deck to set up in), and some horrible long promotional contest before the last game for losers finals.

Thanks for the update.

Still, sounds better than having surprise LoL finals before the SC2 finals. xD

Ha, glad to see progamers finally getting groupies.

That's not the kind you want. It would be like throwing a hotdog down a hallway.

Double elimination is extremely standard?

It is not fair to the players. SQUIRTLE NEEDS TO WIN TWO Bo5 = SIX GAMES, that is ONE MORE than AN ENTIRE FUCKING TEAM NEEDED TO WIN IN THE GSTL.

When has Bo5 equaled 6?

winning two bo5s equals winning 6 games.

Yeah, I missed a few key words. The all caps writing was throwing me off.

Yeah, but I think what he's getting at is that the fairness of giving the WB winner an advantage should be reconsidered because it makes for a poor finals. Having both players start off fresh and having only one bo5 would make for a better final than two bo5, even though it is less 'fair'.

It's a lot less fair and I don't think that it's worth making that kind of sacrifice for a more even final. This is a crux of double elimination, but you can't just give everyone a shot at double elimination except for the player who performed the best in the tournament.

If you don't want the double Bo5 finals then I'm fine with single elimination tournaments but I absolutely do not agree with removing double elimination at the last minute just to force a closer final.

I completely agree. It's not fair to give everyone a second chance and punish the one player that performed the best just for the sake of having a "more even" finals.

I think this is awesome for fnatic and Alive, as this is (correct me if I'm wrong) the first major tournament win for a Korean picked up by a foreign team?

I think aLive has learnt from MMA and MKP's mistake. They were playing greedy and blind as is pretty much stadard in current PvT meta game. But aLive is keeping right on top of scouting so he has a much better idea of what's going on.

I didnt watch the games, but I'm betting that there was some kind of "triple OC before ~15 army supply" goign on

You do realize that if it was single elimination Squirtle would be out and NesTea would have lost to aLive in the finals?

Actually I just want aLive to win it. I'm as fatigued as Nestea now. Both played good enough to get here. But these guys aren't know to give awe-inspiring performances.

It's also TvP anways. :/

What does double elimination mean to you?

How about it means that you aren't out of the tournament until you're eliminated twice. Squirtle was already eliminated once. Alive so far hasn't been he's entitled to that second life.

That's how double elimination works, if you have such a problem with it try and petition tournaments to stick with single elimination tournaments and see how that goes over.

I missed MKP but that's the summary I pretty much got from people. Then they both got caught off guard by 3 colossus 2 base push and died

the advantage is that you played a dozen less games and makes the finals more interesting.

Depends if you count NASL S2, IEM Cologne, or DH as "major" since EG.PuMa and Liquid'HerO won those after transferring.
