sometimes the attack might not win outright, but might do significant damage. In that case the terran can go back to his base and continue the game so leaving some scvs behind gives him something of a way out if he does lots of damage but doesn't win

I don't mind the pointing out of mistakes, but when it gets to the point of "it doesn't matter anymore, but I still don't like it", I find it excessive. It's like saying in soccer a team's winning 7-1 and then concede another goal. It's a blimp, but there should be more positive emotion for the winning position of the winning team/player.

No, sometimes the new maps are first in the rotation. Ohana has already been played for example.
