this format is perfectly fine. NSH got to lose once and continued and so Prime got to do it too when they lost the 1st series to NSH.

Not it would not. Extended series are stupid.

Not to mention some teams don't have enough people for series going up that high. It would be unfair for players to pop up again in the same set as well. So not feasible.

I reckon that Creator is not going to lose this. Congratulations to Prime, and to NSHS for their amazing dark-horse run.

Also, thanks to IPL for the very nice tournament. (Even though I never really liked the extended series rule, meh.)

Not really. This is the most standard form of double elimination. So unfair that Hoseo lost 5-0 in the 2nd round of a tournament that Prime went undefeated in and got to continue to play until the finals. See?

Well, Hoseo has had to play two more matches than Prime.

It's not extended series rule. It's standard double elimination rule

Yes, sorry, that is what I meant.
In other competitions, does double elimination require a loser to go through more matches than a winner?

Yes, of course it does.

Prime are such beasts in teamleagues recently. 2nd in GSTL4, 1st in KSL, 1st in IPL TAC2. It's very encouraging to see that at least one Korean team takes teamleagues seriously.

It's totally fair, each team gets one match that they can lose. It might seem kind of awkward when those two series are back to back, though.

Yes because the idea is to be rewarded more as you keep winning so you get a shorter path to the end as well as keeping your "extra life" as long as possible

eh.. if you really wanted to do an extended series.. like MLG's BO3 -> BO7 (from 2 to 4 wins needed) it would have to be BO 9 to BO 19 (from 5 to 10 wins needed)

it's fine as it is.. it's standard double elimination anyway.

HoSeo can take one set, but I don't know about two.

The Kings and Creator are too solid in almost all the match-ups to be taken down two Bo9's.

"The Kings" as in MK and Byun? Do we have any reason to believe that Byun should be taken in such high consideration?

rofl we do now don't we

Well played by Prime! But the closeness of this series in the FINALS should show just how good Team Liquid was in this, guys. They took this farther than NSHS did. Not a better team, but man did Liquid play well
