Looks like it might be a 3-0 for empire. If they win one out of the first three we should see an ace match with Kas v HerO rematch :D
|
Sheth should take violet, if playing A game. Hero should take Kas, but Kas is DARN solid. Happy vs Jinro is tossup. Aristeo's ZvZ is great, Zenio's is too. I'd say tossup. I may be way off but those are my thoughts.

That's the broodwar violet you have linked there, not SC2 violet.
I think Empire 3-0s here, although if it gets to game 4 I expect it to get to ace.
|
Jinro's TvT is his best match-up from what I've seen.
I think Jinro takes down Happy pretty easily (but I'm not sure how the ear damage has affected his play)
|
where is TLO? his performance vs Prime was amazing on the other hand glad to see Jinro again )
|
Empire cannot let it get to the 4 set, as I think Zenio with his strong ZvZ would be heavily favored over Aristeo. Still, they could very well take it 3-0.
|
|
3-2 in favor of Empire, but the reverse could happen.

Yeah, he's done quite well, beating Thorzain and Puma among others.
It's really close though, realistically, anything could happen, from a 3-0 for Empire to a 3-0 for Liquid.
I'm hoping for a 3-1 for Empire, would be cool if Aristeo was able close it out.
|
|
liquid has a chance if hero takes out kas, other than that I don't see them winning.
|
Sheth Hero Happy Zenio
this is going to be a great match though
|
|
Think Empire will either win 3-0 or lose it 2-3 in the Ace match
|
Violet > Sheth Kas < HerO Happy < Jinro Aristeo < Zenio
|
viOLet > Sheth Kas > HerO Happy < Jinro Aristeo < Zenio
I dunno who they'll play for the ace match, but Empire will win it.
|
Violet > Sheth Kas < HerO Happy > Jinro Aristeo < Zenio Ace: Violet > HerO
I'm rooting for liquid, I think they can do it, but it'll be tough. Gogo liquid!

To be honest, I give Happy the upper edge against Jinro. Have you seen his (I mean Happy's) latest accomplishments? I am counting five gold medals just in 2012, and if you allow the last five days of december, then it goes up to seven. Sure, they might not be the most prestigrious tournaments, however they show what a consistent top player Happy is.
edit: my prediction:
violet > sheth kas ?? hero happy > jinro aristeo < zenio
|
viOLet < Sheth Kas < HerO Happy > Jinro Aristeo < Zenio
This is one of the hardest matches to call. I could be totally right or wrong. Anything can happen here.
|
GOGO Liquid! Gonna be a close one

Really excited for this. Solid match-ups 1-3 and even though I think Zenio is a class (or two) above Aristeo it is ZvZ and anything can happen. I'm guessing we'll see an epic ace match.

Its somewhat impressive and good for him. But I can't judge some one as a top player from little online cups. just my opinion...
Predictions Violet>Sheth Kas<Hero Happy>Jinro Aristeo<Zenio Violet<HerO in the ace
Go Go Liquid!

Yay, viOlet making the right decisions. I'm most excited for Kas vs HerO, though, really curious how it'll play out.

Surprised that Sheth lost that, now gogo Kas

The casting is amazingly bad as usual @ nasl.
|
HerO really needs to win this, otherwise it could get really difficult for TL.

Wow that was really reallly solid from Hero, messing up Kas's weird gameplan with a 3 gate

That happens to me a lot. That's why you don't go marauder first lol.

Worst I've seen kas play in forever

So I just tuned in after game 3 in IPL Fight club and HerO just wins :D

hero made that look easy :|

It's okay, Kas will get his payback in the ace.
Or Violet will. Either way.
|
Rough game for Kas, that rax placement seemed kinda odd.
|
Catz commentary is a lot of fun, hahaha :D

darn I really wanted to see how Kas handles Hero in the late game.

Jinro fighting! You can do it!
|
wow I haven't seen Jinro play for a loooong time
|
|
|
Isn't there a raven curse? If so, which player loses if they BOTH get ravens? : P
|
Jinro has such better macro (unless I missed something in the begining where he got an advantage)

these games O_O i thought mech wasn't never played anymore

did they missread game or something? apply pressure is not "overplaying in every way" lol happy's micro was way better. also his army supply is more. Jinro had more scv's tho, but his saturation is unbalanced
|
one of the few times watching nastl, why do they invite a player's teamate to cast? sounds biased

There is no teammate casting.
|
Doesn't look like Jinro is playing better to me. Looks like he could pressure Happy because Happy's third was a lot faster... now Happy's macro kicks in. Looks even at best for Jinro.

Jinro didn't expand when he had happy contained, and paid the price.
|
Well done by Happy, securing at least an ace match for Empire! Wow, those SCVs man...

LOL, that was kinda disappointing :/

Eventually Jinro forgot to change the rally point for his SCVs Then he thought he needed more and got finally 90 scvs on essentially 2 mining bases
|
A couple sloppy things from Jinro, looks like - the macro with all the scvs in the main, and also just had so many tanks picked off at the front, not able to contest air control, and not able to catch the attack on the 3rd until it was a little too late

On a more related note.... Zenio's ZvZ is so good. I'm not sure if it's his micro, macro, or his decision making, but he just seems to be in control of every ZvZ I've seen him play.
|
I feel like Zenio has breached the matrix in ZvZ. You see these big zergling/baneling battles and his zerglings just dance their way effortlessly into victory.

Wow, what the hell happened that last game? The last thing I saw was Violet moving in on HerO's nat with huge army and HerO defending with blink stalkers. How did that turn into a win for HerO? I was sure Violet was going to take that game.

What does that have to do with anything when it was viOlet losing to HerO in an ace match?
Going 2-2 in close games against TL is no shame and beastyqt didn't even play.
Yes, TL was better in the end, but I didn't see anything indicating that you're right today.

Meaning I don't see why so many people would expect for Empire to take down both Zenio and Hero so easily. I am moreso referring to all the posts claiming Empire 3-0, as that is just pure ignorance. Some of the players on Empire are definitely good enough to take down Hero and Zenio in a BO1 but people like the one guy claiming that Hero hasn't proven that he could take down Kas in a BO3 is just beyond ridiculous.

Nah, it's not pure ignorance at all, there was a possibility, and it's not even that small that Kas would beat HerO. Look at the other results and it's a quick 3-0 for Empire. As I said in my post before the game: It's really close though, realistically, anything could happen, from a 3-0 for Empire to a 3-0 for Liquid. Predicting a 3-0 for Empire is a valid opinion and it could easily have happened.

Yeah I agree I like Empire but you didn't read my other post. It seems like Liquid was the one being sold short here, atleast by the people that initially voted/posted.
But I still think way too many foreign fans overhype foreign players. Like the poll for the IPL BO9 between Hero and Thorzain should not be that close I think, and at one point before the match Thorzain was actually leading in the poll. It is just kind of silly at this point I think.

Nobody should ever undersell Empire, I think they're a fantastic team and I enjoyed making fun of Happy with them at Dreamhack a ton. Same with RoX.KIS last week, btw. Both are great squads with a good future ahead, imo. HerO had beaten ThorZaIN only once before tonight. I think ThorZaIN totally deserved to be considered even here.
Frankly, I love ThorZaIN, his mechanics are good, but they don't blow you away, his strategies were stunning in TSL3, but they've been fairly orthodox since. But ThorZaIN is just so smart. Game two, not a good game overall from him, but he had one moment chasing HerO's high templars, and he targets each individually to slow them all down, instead of focusing one. So instead, where he maybe would've gotten one templar, he got two because of just a little micro trick. I love the decisions ThorZaIN makes, I love how he plays the game. Sometimes he underperforms, but he never ever sucks. Great player, imo. Maybe my favorite non-Liquid` player.

HerO conquering his PvT?!

Bad idea to send in Violet for ace. Should have used Kas or Happy, Empire woulda won then.

HerO beating Kas, and ViOlet? Good stuff!!

The hype really goes both ways. It's not so much hype, it's more like trends that people keep believing in for a long time. Believing that no foreigner will ever beat a Korean is just as bad really - speaking of IPL BO9s, people were saying the same for Sheth vs Ryung and Mana vs Ganzi, both of which ended up VERY convincingly in favor of the presumed "underdog". Similar scenario was with HerO vs Jjakji. Or TLO vs Prime.
The problem is that people don't really pay much attention to the level of play itself, and never make educated guesses when they're predicting the outcome. Majority of people either doesn't watch or doesn't understand Starcraft (or both) and just relies on some imaginary flowchart that tells them who should win based on recent results and some made-up laws that don't exist in reality.
I'm talking about posts / comments, mostly. Polls are irrelevant, people vote the player/team they want to win. I've never voted a non-Liquid player against a Liquid player in a poll for example, even if I didn't really favor him to win the game. I voted for Quantic's B team with flo to win against FXO too.

i think it would have been sick if aristeo had just 10 pool mass speedling all-ined for the win XD
would have been really good teamplay imo
and sooo sad that empire didn't send out beasty instead of aristeo he must have been unavailable since his TvZ is one of the best in Europe and he would have had a really good chance vs Zenio

wow. herO is playing so well this last couple of weeks. gsl, ipl fight club, team games...very nice =)

I knew there was a reason I like you Empire had a great chance here, with Mouz and EG under performing in team leagues they've put themselves in contention as top 2 foreigner team.

Liquid are sooooo beast in this format. They really shine as a team in this aspect. Once they patch their Terran weakness, they are probably the best foreign team in this format.
|
TL needs one more solid Terran. I am pretty sure Jinro will come back to the scene and dominate once more. But inbetween that time TL could use a good foreign Terran.
Hard to find one though.

Finally I have returned!!!
Congrats to Liquid! I want more nony!

baaaaam oida! liquid beste! I just love u hero

I dunno who they'll play for the ace match, but Empire will win it. think you hit the nail on the head with that prediction, hopefully its Violet v Hero epic ace match, but i think empire will win 3-2 unfortunetly To be honest, I give Happy the upper edge against Jinro. Have you seen his (I mean Happy's) latest accomplishments? I am counting five gold medals just in 2012, and if you allow the last five days of december, then it goes up to seven. Sure, they might not be the most prestigrious tournaments, however they show what a consistent top player Happy is. edit: my prediction: violet > sheth kas ?? hero happy > jinro aristeo < zenio
Hey, I nailed it! Expect the Kas <-> Hero match, though. ^^" But wasn't that hard to call anyways.
When is the restream due? According to the thread it should've started 50min ago, but the event schedules says in another 70min. Well, doesn't matter anyways now, now that I know the result.

+ Show Spoiler +hero beat kas, every other result is as expected which unfortunately ended in a TL win

I think Jinro takes down Happy pretty easily (but I'm not sure how the ear damage has affected his play)
Lol, there are not at the same level at all. Happy is soooo underrated, he recently took down Puma is a long macro game. Happy is on the same level as Kas imo, he just doesn't do qualifiers for tourneys and therefor doesn't do tourneys.
In europe, on their current level, I would say Kas=Happy > Thorzain > Beastyqt > DeMu > Bratok > Naama > Jinro > Sjow
Happy and Beasty being heavily underrated.

Getting close for mouz. I don't expect them to win their upcoming match against FXO, but I seriously hope that they can win enough games to keep a nice cushion in score difference in front of reign (currently they have a cushion of 4 games).
