Yes you're right. I don't get it why MrBitter always has problem with this.

Eh, it's not hard to understand that mental arithmetic is hard in certain situations. I was on a national talk show in prime time (no foolin') and I managed to confuse myself over whether 10^18 was a billion billions or not.

I've been watching the IEMs for a while now and I always have a problem with the 'Phil have you found us opponents yet?' ad.

Theres only 3 people in the Mumble Channel. Phil and 2 other people. What game are they playing where it's 3v3 and they have to manually find opponents?

There is still a chance slivko and snute both have a better score than ret, even though slivko already lost to ret.
Then it boils down to what is more important, map score or who beat who?
If slivko goes 5-3 and Ret ends up 4-3, SHOULD slivko still go down?
If so, why should he even try vs dakkon?
If not, how the hell is that fair to Ret that he beat someone, but they advanced because he won vs Dakkon, he actually had no incentive to try either?
Silly group system is silly.

lol wut? If Snute beats Ret, Ret beat Slivko, Slivko beat Snute, how would you like that to be settled? The system isn't silly. People are.

Bloodline Champions, or 3v3 in LoL.
Nothing to add.

The confusion is that it is NOT based purely of map score.
It's a 5 step process, which no one can ever remember.
Who beat who, match score, set score, it matters who has more wins, win/lose ratio doesn't count, bark bark bark

Again, who beat who alone doesn't seem to matter. That's how hero got knocked out at Kiev.

tl;dr: Double elimination group stages ala GSL

not silly at all
if snute beats Ret its
Snute > Ret > Slivko > Snute

So every player beat another one, but one has to go down. Why is mapscore not fair then?

Dakkon is actually worse than me, why was he even invited

We br , HONESTLY and HONESTLY, dont know!

Let me just sum up a story:

Apprently Fenix gave the tour. up a few days ago. Since the ESL direction didn`t want any "TBA" or "W.O." in the tournament, they suddently invited Dakkon, a guy who lives more than 200 miles from SP, and even PAYED this garbage his whole trip and stuff like that (why didnt the organization payed for great players like Snute or Stephano who was supposed to go too?)

And now we are all mad for two reason: the fact they chose Dakkon to play the tournament (a mid master zerg who plays like shit) and payed for his trip.

Lamp, a really great player who managed to beat players like Drewbie a while ago, was not invited, but the seed of the bracket was better than Dakkon`s. And guess what? Lamp lives in Sao Paulo city.

So yea, we feel really ashamed that Potiguar, Tunico and specially Dakkon played for this thing. Lamp and Reason would have made a brilliant presentation.

That story is not even close to being true. After Fenix cancelled we went to the fourth placed player (Thunder from Venezuela) and then to all the players that ranked 5th-8th in the Latin American qualifier (where also KiLLeR qualified from). Of those four players only DakkoN replied at all.

Every player in the tournament receives at least $600 prize money. This money is meant to support teams and players to travel to the event.

The only one you really have to blame is you or the players you named as they appearently didn't see the need to even try to qualify for a $21.000 tournament in their homecountry...

You should really get ur facts straight.

Fortune also was the same seed as Dakkon, and he stated in that forum that you guys NEVER called him and didn`t even got a msg, neither from his manager, team or facebook.

And Fenix also stated he wouldn`t play before 3 weeks the tournament was about to begin

I know I would`nt post anymore, but lets make the thing clear.

Please send me a PM here on TeamLiquid with the exact details and maybe quotes from the players you named. I want to look into this.

We have a partner here in South America/Brazil running qualifiers and tournaments for us so obviously we trust him and his work.

I would like to do that. Just give a few minutes and I`ll pm you (I hope the admins don`t ban me before..). Now it`s only a matter to get the right post, won`t take too long.

Groupstage
Top 2 of each group advance to the playoffs. In StarCraft II the first ranked players of each group will face a
random second ranked player from another group in the first round of the playoffs. In League of Legends and
Counter-Strike the first ranked team of Group A will face the second ranked team of Group B and so on.
If two or more players are tied by points and round/map difference after the groupstage the final ranking will
be decided by ...
1. points among tied participants
2. map difference among tied participants
3. number of won maps among tied participants
4. overall map difference
5. overall number of won maps

Because it's not Snute > Ret > Slivo > Snute,
but rather Slivko > Ret because he beat Dakkon 2-0 who's results didn't matter anymore (even though Slivko might win 2-0 if he played earlier just as easily). Assuming Ret gets 2-0ed by Snute.

I wish all tournaments would adopt the group stage format GOM uses, its far better than the confusing mess that 99% of foreign tournaments use.

why does liquipedia show that ret is already through?

if he loses to snute 2-0 and slivko beats dakkon (which he should do) then ret is out

and i dont even think that its very unlikely that snute beats ret...
slivko outplayed in game 1 and in game 2 he was too indecisive with his spines but that was probably because he was nervous
and the third game slivko was a bit too greedy vs ret's pretty all-in-ish push.. would have been happy about an upset and i really like slivko actually
and i like snute as well so i actually hope that he beats ret and both of them move on eventhough i like ret as well

thats the problem with zerg groups i realld dont know who to root for

omfg... you're hopeless. It's a 3- WAY TIE. If 2 people are tied head to head is first.

^This

With GOM's format, there is no controversy, no three-way-ties, no mapscore or math to go by. It's straight-up, simple, and makes sense.
