If you don't know how to post in a live report thread by now, be advised: don't whine about game balance and don't bash players/casters/interviewers/staff/other posters. And don't start the USA USA USA!!! stuff.

again: when looking at other scenes for rules and such that is great because we can learn a lot from them. however you always have to try and understand the motivation behind them to see if it can really apply here. the 5-4 > 4-3 rule should never, ever be used in starcraft. this rule is created to reward offensive play (and because of this it's a nice rule), something which is not reflected by starcraft map scores.

it's either 4-3 with a better win % or head to head

nope, you're basing this on soccer rules with goals which has nothing to do with this. the motivation behind that rule for soccer does not apply to starcraft thus the rule should never exist in our scene.

Well, you can argue whether it makes sense with StarCraft or esports in general that 5:4 is better than 4:3 but I still think that it has always been the case like that if mapscore was the thing that counted.

Grubby has it all man, he has it all. He's loaded, handsome, has a beautiful wife that not only supports his hobby but also is his manager, has won multiple world championships, has his own team with him being the team-captain as well as the ace-player, and to top it all off, he's dutch! :O

5 map wins is more than 4?

that makes sense for soccer, because you want to encourage offensive play, but it doesn't make sense for mapscore.

so it's gonna be dima +3 first, then tie between grubby and sound => head to head => grubby advances as second

Err, it's the basically the same way in soccer afaik- when you're tied the goal difference decides.

In soccer's goal difference 5-4 beats 4-3 because you scored more goals (implying you were an offensive team). but this doesn't apply here...

in both cases it's the winner who advances, so this discussion is useless for this specific situation^^

Please read what nazgul says, the rule awards offensive play, he's totally right about that, thats why Starcraft should not have the same rule as Soccer.

Did you read his post or just quote it
The motivation behind the rule doesn't apply to SC, winning with 5-4 mapscore vs. 4-3 does not reward offensive play or anything like that.
