We have recently announced the HSC IV groups and the map pool. Both, groups and the map pool, got some minor changes, after publishing the news. So here's the correct and up to date information:
Groups:
Group A
ThorZaIN Socke Nerchio iNcontroL
Group B
MarineKing HasuObs viOLet Delphi
Group C
DIMAGA Attero Adelscott ReaL
Group D
MC ClouD White-Ra (Replacement will be announced soon) Aures
Group E
JYP DarkHydra (Replacement for DeMusliM) DarKFoRcE BlinG
Group F
HerO Naama KawaiiRice Haypr0
Group G
Stephano Sound MoMaN NightEnD
Group H
Ret Grubby GoOdy Destiny
The distribution of the prize pool will be as listed below:
2 Dutch players, in the same pool... I am so sad about that... I do think they both have a really good chance getting out of the group. Grubby has excelent PvT and Ret seems good enought to stop Goodys Mech.
Sometimes being a DeMusliM fan is hard ... I thought he was going since he tweeted that he had landed in America and If WhiteRa really isn't coming I have the perfect replacement. ROTTERDAM!
O well despite all that the groups look like they should be interesting. I do wish Terminus wasn't still being used though.

In Korea practicing for GSL (IdrA/Naniwa) or Not wanting to travel right now (HuK)

Naniwa is not competing in the next gsl. It's some other tournament he's practicing for. I believe it might be IEM (kiev). He's not said what tournament himself as far as I know but one of the mods in his chat said iem today, so I guess it's the one.
I really wanted InControl to do well but he's being pitted against some of the best foriegner in the scene. Sigh. Edit: Also, I predict that Thorzain will win this HSC.

Good prize pool distribution, the only problem I have is with some of the maps. This is 2012 It's time to stop using meta and shattered temple. Terminus is imbalanced too. You get points for using daybreak though!

Metropolis and Cloud Kingdom would be nice
THORZAIN VS HERO GRAND FINALS GOGO!!!
Should've announced the map pool sooner though, if you want to throw something like Metropolis or Cloud Kingdom in, they haven't been used a lot in tournaments so far.

In what way is Terminus imba? Honest question, I have no idea
looking forward to this event. HSC3 was really epic. sadly i won't be able to watch the first days. And due to Whiteras absence who will take the bbq part? ok its winter but someone has to step into whiteras steps
Its pretty exhausting being a Demuslim fan. Hes like the equivalent of an athlete with superstar potential but is always hurt (but in our case, any reason that prevents the player from attending events..)
All these groups look like they'll be fairly predictable, but at the same time that will only make a victory by a player who people aren't expecting to be even better.

Are the groups GSL format or Round Robin format?
Last time they were round robin bo3 so I assume this is the case again.
Oh man, rip iNc. I don't mean to sound like a dick, but I see no way for him to get out of that group. Its gonna be brutal.
I can see Destiny taking a game (maybe even a series) off Grubby and/or Goody, will likely get 2-0'd by Ret, prolly won't make it out of his group, but hes got a much better shot out of the group stage then iNc does.
Most are pretty straightforward but that always leaves room for upsets!, Interested to see who's gonna replace White-Ra
edit: >.> people are voting NE through group G...obviously didn't watch the Korean Qualifiers, I have a strong feeling Sound will be to the finals easily unless he gets knocked out by JYP on his way there
No idra, huk, naniwa, whitera, demuslim, kas... to many rejections from invited players... sucha good tournamnet and Im affraid HSC4 wont live up to the hype....
anyone wana take a bet on incontrol getting 3rd or 4th? in his group of course
also there is no such thing as an "unlucky group" these guys are "pros" (some of them) and so they should all be on same level beat the best to be the best. if a group is considered too hard for a certain person its most likely he isnt qualified to be in the tourny no?
Interestingly, I could see Destiny getting 2nd in his group O.o
Goody's style is too well known... and so ugly that I just can't bear to fathom him winning even though he might... and Grubby's PvZ has been looking funny lately.

Goody will win against Destiny no matter what. He'll probably already kill him with his famous early pressure. ^^
Then he'll probably lose to Ret and Grubby, though. Ret is too good if he doesn't have too bad of a day and Goody's TvP is not yet strong enough to win against Grubby.
why is the prize distribution so off from the norm?
Not that this event is 'normal', but the prize pool is quite top heavy. Personally, for this sort of event.. and the 'feel' of it being a more personal and intimate tournament.. you may consider spreading out the prizing a bit more. The top 8 is fine.. but in almost all tournament style event for any sport (or poker).. the top spot is 50-60% of the total and 2nd is always 50% of 1st or more. Just seems odd to have first place to heavy for this sort of event.
Just my 2 cents on it.. other then that.. this tournament is a great idea with some great players (mostly great players) and you can't go wrong with any tournament that has viOLet in it!

Yeah, I was worry about the BBQ part as well. White-Ra took it like a boss last time, HSC3 was so epic, actually my top 3 tourney of the year. Too bad, I can't watch HSC4 since I'll travelling for the next few days T_T.
wonder who whitera replacement will be, probably a euro player from whever this is hosted, which makes sense, and its not like euro is lacking in good players ; )

The Koreans won't be there in person, will they? I mean MKP plays today in the AOL...

Every player will be there in person. MKP has already arrived in Germany yesterday.
After seeing group A i have to say. It suck to be Incontrol. On the bright side. Incontrol casting will be great. Troll-meter will die after his casts.

I dont know if tournamnets should use invitation system anymore since there is a lot of tournamnets around the world, players will pick whats best for them, and that is normal. On the other side we got Take on video talking that we will have idra/huk/naniwa and whitera bbq on HSC4 and 2 days before event they deny the invitation (which as said before is ok). What about people that bought hd pass for the event just because they are huge fan of one of those players and now their not comming...
Imo stop inviting people to the tournamnets, make qualification tournamnts and players that are willing to play very hard qualification process, that means their are decicated to play and they will not deny coming to tournamnet becasue they put a lot of effort to win a spot. The problem is that every tournamnet whats the stars like HuK/Idra/Naniwa and Korean pros... but inviting them will to every tournamnet will result in such a confusion like we got with HSC4. Qualification process will allow new and almost as good as "pros" players to compete and make impact on the scene. Thats why ESL are underrated by community, because they dont invite people they run qualification process.
Just occured to me that even with so many good players dropping out, this is still gonna be awesome as hell due to the unique setting. Looking forward to player-commentating!
Excited for this! Last HSC was easily one of the most all around entertaining tournaments of the year.. Can't wait to see what TaKe and his crew have in store for us this year! Here's to some great games! GOGO MKP!

No hope of him coming above JYP, but he has a good chance vs Darkforce and Darkhydra

Well he had to fight his way from Platin to Master.
White-ra replacement might be any spot obviously, depending on who he is :p.
Group E
JYP DarKFoRcE BlinG DarkHydra (Replacement for DeMusliM)
Group F
Really no idea about the 2-4th places, three players who often disappoint but sometimes plays great. I'll go with Hayder for second because I can.
HerO Haypr0 Naama KawaiiRice
Group G
Stephano Sound NightEnD MoMaN
Group H
Another group where really anyone could take the 2nd spot. Ret being the clear favorite for rank 1. I'm going to go with GoOdy because it seems like he always get through even though his play doesn't look stellar.

It will be the Dutch player PoYo.
u sure? not phoenix or DBS? they would be easy to get i think and they are on a team take has something to do with (and they are more popular)
i really miss some players in the lineup but overall its really good gonna be a great event

he already put all of the atn guys in there. real was invited too. if he investes phoenix 6/32 would be under his management not saying they don't deserve it (goooo Socke!), but I'm glad he found someone else.
It does suck that there were many cancellations, however there are still SO many great players no doubt this HSC will be awesome! I also like that they have removed some of the gold expos from maps. Time to throw my predictions into the hat, methinks.

Phoenix was just at the GSL Code A qualifiers, so I don't know how he can play. Then again, that could be another Phoenix!
