Players who registered early do not necessarily check in, it just means they intend to play. Jinro was sick this morning and isn't playing.
This is actually looking to be a pretty epic tournament, lots of big names in there, tons of people streaming. My favorite streamer so far is Slayers Golden.

Did you look at the bracket?
Hero has to play Check next. There's still 2 rounds before they can play each other and odds are Destiny will be out by then. He'll have to play a Korean, then either Noblesse or Attero.
I feel like Burning Altar has some severe positional issues. After watching CM vs Alive and Illusion vs Berra, same spawns in both games, the player on the bottom left could not take a third when his opponent was bottom right.
That tank placement on the cliff at the 3rd/4th of burning altar is pretty good. Little outcroppings like that seem sorta pointless and probably not necessary(aside from tanks being there raining death on minerals). Reminds me of the corner tank drops on BGH.

It's probably added for terran compensation, as the map is so open.

It was pretty funny to see Noblesse making the drop, and then his camera immediatly switched back to that spot. You could almost feel the idea light up in his head. xd
On December 11 2011 04:05 JethroMoney wrote: That map was a joke.. Siege ledges above the third have no place in modern maps IMO.
Yea, I'm also uncomfortable with the distance between the third and the ramp on Burning Altar where the terran sieged his main army. I've seen two games on this map where most of the action has centered on those ramps. I think it would be a more entertaining fight if it was slightly farther from the natural. The Terran can siege the expo from the top of the ramp allowing him an overall good position to engage the army and a good position to damage the economy.

How does that make any sense? Let me design a poor map for terran, then add something to help terran specifically and hinder all other races...I doubt the map maker was thinking that.

The tank being sieged on the ledge above that base seemed like something that would have been pretty easily preventable with an overlord around for vision to just toss a couple of infested Terrans up there from a burrowed infestor (both of which were available before it happened). For muta play obviously it's pretty much a non-issue.

Games after r16 or whatever are supposed to be only cast from replays.

Its the players choise to keep their streams open for now. Ro16 and forward are casted from replays. At Ro4 there wont be player streams and will be casted by TL from replays
God it makes me so happy to see gimix doing well. I still remember how epic he was with the white-ra thing at MLG orlando. Might just have to make him a liquipedia page actually (tho I've never done that before).
They are already playing Ro8 matches, but Ro16 brackets still not updated zzz. The bracket updates were almost live before Ro16, but now they are over 30min late.
Nerchio seems to be choking vs alive, he was doing so well, but ever since he got ultra's hes been doing terrible(not just ultra's being bad, his multitasking seems worse now).

That's on purpose as some of the ro16 games are being streamed. It's usually like this for the TL open's.

What'd he say?
He said "you are super gosu" at the end of a very long game. Special Endrey wasn't sure whether he was actually being sincere. Game 2 he got bunker rushed, said "u are so good" and left without gg.

The only thing he said was "You are super gosu". How in the world is that blaming racial imbalance?
Before game 2 I thought you were right ... ^^
It may be sarcastic, but he didn't mention racial imbalance.
Then what was he referring to?
I guess he was referring to, that he had the game in the bag, but did lose it because "Terrans can't die". I seemed to me he lost it for building Ultras instead of Broods.
I really hope the games are disqualified because they were played early =( poor koreans, it's still fucking early and they don't probably don't know better t.t

Ro4 + finals are both casted from replays and both games have a ref inside so I doubt they will be disqualified

I've got to say guys I really appreciate the spoiler tags. I haven't clicked them and can't wait to watch these games when they're casted. keep up the great work!

Yeah, but on the other hand I understand why they ask that of the players.
Sorry guys, semis and finals are supposed to be part of our official cast and the Koreans didn't realize this since our rules are only available in English.
would have been nice to see the fpv but oh well, would have like to see the semis and finals but just as they start im heading out. hope they have some good games

Oh man, I'm so confused, is there a later time/date they're doing the rest of the games? Everything just stopped for no reason and I don't see any times anywhere, lol.

It still says 544 for me so something is going with the viewer count.

most definitely not... my stream window only shows 922, and on TL it's stuck on 1449 for me as well.

...ooh shit yeah finally! Just came home to orb and chill duocasting... this was up to now my favourite hypothetical casting team, i am curious if reality holds up
Wouldn't it been better if Noblesse for example mule dropped near Alive's Marines so Alive woudl take splash damage from his tanks, weakening his push?
I looked at all the maps for queen block dificulty. All of the maps from the mains can be blocked with one queen but not two. A hatchery can be placed in the choke of the natural on most of the maps, making the choke space 2-3 queens wide.
The smaller of the chokes in Haven's Lagoon can be blocked with a hatchey, making it a strong way to help hold off hellions.
Most, if not all of the ramps can be reached with one creep tumor.
The natural and 3rds are all somewhat accessible, but easily defended if the player invests in spine crawlers.
ZvZ looks like it will be absolutely amazing on these maps. Most of the current maps have some ZvZ problem, but these maps are awesome and look like they would make great games. The expansions are not too turtle friendly, but none are completely unsafe like the expansions on Nerazim Crypt / Antiga Shipyard etc.

It was the Artosis pylon of the Artosis pylons!
A single pylon powering 5 gates, 1 cyber core and 1 robo... He did the same thing in game 1, but he didn't get punished for the pylon placement in that game.
I have a fair amount of confidence that this series has discovered a consistent weakness in GuineaPig's play: Artosis pylons. Coincidence Artosis wanted to be a guinea pig farmer?

It is really strong vs a FE and forces a cancel most of the time. Problem is that you can't really scout if the Terran is going 2 rax or FE or 1-1-1 before having to chose the proper reaction.

Pretty obvious then that MVPGuineaPig is a smurf account of Artosis.

Tails should really learn how to build sentries when you have MM knocking at your natural, that was really weird. There's difference between having your FE canceled and dying horribly ><
If your opening isn't completely crap awful you can hold 2rax quite comfortably, but getting no sentries nor third gate while only getting 2 units before warpgate which is also delayed makes no sense. I really don't understand what guineapig was trying to do.

I thought we had a 1gate expo that got faster +2 gates to deal with a 2 rax (and still hold 1-1-1s though it had a /late/ observer)

These maps have definitely produced the best games from what i've seen. Whether these are future map candidates for large-scale tournaments or possible ladder maps, these are quite good and would go with any of these as my top choices as well.
cloud kingdom was my favorite, followed by twilight peaks/burning altar and korhal compound :D i thought that sanctuary and lagoon were a bit bland tho.
My input on burning Altar: The 3rd is severely hard to take in certain positions, which makes the game incredible boring to play. I think forced spawns (cross top right, bottom left) of some sort would benefit it. close ground (horizontal) is a nightmare to play vs zerg. Sadly, I didn't get to play any of the maps afterwards but that's my input. Beautiful map though

I made this comment as well watching your game when you got eliminated. The logical third for you to take was in his attack path and the other one was close enough to be taken, but too far to be defended.

thanks for feedback
the best part of BA actually is that cross spawn is not needed, because the distance between close spawns is perfectly fine. Many people actually said that close spawn is more fun (and balanced as well, beside the slight drop issue when Terran spawns on counterclockwise position which can easily be spotted)
so I disagree, the thirds are equally hard to take and control for any spawn setup. actualy one of the better balanced rotational 12 base maps we have. the drop-issue will be adressed and solved very soon.
