The BlizzCup, if I remember correctly, was the top ten GSL ranked players in a KotH tournament. It would go #10 vs. #9 in a Bo7 and then the winner would face the eighth seeded player the next day in another Bo7. It would go on until whoever is left faces the #1 player for the big cash.
This is why people like MC and MVP were so worried about their points a few months ago. If they had gotten in the top few spots, it would be guaranteed cash.
I'm kinda sad that the idea got scratched.

I believe that this year has been a special year for e-sports. A lot of things that were not accomplished in SC/BW were achieved in the course of just one year.
Players from all around the world competing each other, leading international tournaments working together with exchange programs, foreign players coming to Korea for training and Korean players joining foreign teams - all of these are remarkable developments that have not occurred to this extent in the past 10 years of e-sports history.
You could read the second paragraph as independent on the first but I felt the boled line was setting up the paragraph underneath. Meaning he was talking about broodwars e-sport history. Just how I read it.

I love this, great work mr. chae!

Awsome tournament, i will definitely watch it. I like that GOM is collaborating with other foreign tournaments, it would be cool to see Code A/S games in Dreamhack too.

Very nice Cup! You only should avoid payout structure where everything goes to the winner.
|
O this is beautiful! I love this idea so so much. It's gonna be like the world championships again, but with seemingly more weight. :DD

Doesn't really excite me tbh. 95% chance that all of these will be Koreans, so it's just like another 10 man GSL tournament^^

Early christmas present, thanks Gom! Looking forward to this quite a bit.

Cup sounds great, excited about that one.
On the revamped sight at the moment. The front page is awesome, I love the GSL/GSTL player stats.
However it's not very easy to navigate to VODs anymore. Maybe it's because I was used to how it was, but I find the new way less user friendly.

Keywords are "to this extent".
edit: I don't like them inviting the winner of IEM NY though tbh. All the top players are going to be at MLG Orlando during that event I thought?

I second that!

sound fantastic!
Nevertheless I regret that ESWC winner doesn't get a ticket too...

will this be a free event or a pay event?

Hahaha you say this every time don't you?
But this does sound like a great tournament and I am looking forward to it. I think even if it doesn't involve more of the top gsl players that we will still have great players (probably from the gsl), qualifying from other tournaments anyway. Perhaps there will be one or maybe two players or something that don't belong to be there but that can be the case with any tournament. I still think we will see super high level games regardless. Thanks to GOM for doing more great things!

According to the GSL ranking it is definitely sure that NesTea and MVP will 1 & 2.
But it will be a tough fight for the third place. Right now MC has the spot but if Polt or MarineKing does well next GSL (GSL November?) they can get enough points for third place.

Wow, awesome. Mr Chae always comes bearing goodies.

Omg, and the new site looks amazing too!
