Ret played better than Naniwa, therefore Ret outplayed him... Can't you read? He completely gave away ~10 sentries, that's not getting outplayed, that's him screwing himself over. If i kill my own hatch at the beginning of the game, that's not getting outplayed. Killing your own hatch can be a misclick Losing 8 sentries because you are too slow to force field is naniwa playing really badly. Which is why it's nani fucking himself over, not getting outplayed. Sorry, but losing units because of reaction time is part of standard gameplay process and part of one player outplaying the other on multitasking. You can spin basically any game as if the loser lost it more than the winner won it, but what's the point? -_- Yeah but how often do you see people at this level losing ~10sentries? close to never, it just doesn't happen. This was an earthshatteringly huge mistake by nani, that's why he lost. You don't see people sniping 10 sentries here and there at this level unless someone fucks up really hard.
And how often in Starcraft 2 do you see a Zerg player (or any player) keeping his ling control group moving and poking in and backstabbing all the time, 100% of the time, being everywhere on the map? Almost never.
Nani didn't fuck up on his own, he was just forced to split his attention over one whole half of the map constantly, and it's so much easier to slip up at any point in such circumstances. Ret is always in the right place and can tell if you're not focusing on your army in a split second. He didn't just choose a random moment to attack and surround.
This was a mechanics and multitasking win by Ret, and a pretty clear and obvious one. I'm a fan of both players, but I'm really glad we get to see something that we rarely see in SC2.

so stop it. They never interview losers immediately after a match. They give them time to gather their composure. Press conferences are at least 30 minutes after a game is over. This might be a cultural difference but in soccer it is completely normal to interview the players right after the game. Sometimes they don't even make it to the showers. Champions League. Barca Chelsea after suspicious reffing Drogba. You misunderstood me. I meant a difference in how interviews are conducted in different sports. Not a difference between the players.
Edit: The cultural part was more because I assumed that as a Candian he doesn't watch so much soccer. I might be wrong there of course

If you fuck yourself over, and the other person wins because of this, doesn't that mean the other person played better. Granted, nani may have played badly and ret just played standard, but this means nani got outplayed. Being outplayed does not mean that you have to get out-macroed or out-thought, you can just make less mistakes and outplay someone.
So why not use "won" instead of "outplay" According to you they are synonyms?

Your argument makes no sense bud. If you fuck yourself over, you got outplayed. You made a critical mistake, your opponent didn't. Therefore your opponent played better. so if i kill my own cc in the beginning, my enemy totally outplayed me? if you do that in a major tournament your enemy probably outlifes you.
Not making mistakes is a large part of competition, probably larger than creativity or flair.

I fucking love this event, I love knowing Polish, it makes the answers so much more insightful. Carmac's translations are accurate but there's still so much lost in the translation. Plus the Polish birthday chants was so baller.

You're comparing "killing your own cc at the beginning" to Nani's loss of his sentries?

It's quite funny to see all the rage on Arena Junkies, Insulting SC2 and even the kid getting sung happy birthday, They just don't realise that WoW as an E-sport will never really happen.
