Hey guys! This is just going to be a preliminary post in order to get sign-ups started. The PTSL season 2 Open Tournament will be held on August 20th. We will be aiming to have as many teams as possible so depending on how many teams sign up it will either be a 16, 32 or 64 team tournament. This is just to simplify the brackets for the tournament.

The format of the tournament will be bo3, single elimination. Set first map and then loser picks from pool (listed below). It is FREE to play and the top 4 teams will win spots in the PTSL Season 2 Invitational.

Teams are required to have a NA account and be ranked in Masters or higher (1s/2s).

The top 4 teams will be given in invite to the PTSL Season 2 Invitational Tournament for a chance at $1200 in prizes.

Sign-ups end on August 17th

***BRACKETS***

I will be updating this post over the week in order to make it more pleasing to the eye.

Thanks!

That stinks, but maybe we can schedule around it. It should only take one day for all of the games since they're not being casted.

So do you have to be masters in both 1v1 and 2v2 or can you just be masters in 2v2?

Ideally you should be in masters for both 1s and 2s but the only requirement is that you and your partner be in a pre-existing masters 2v2 team.

The first season was absolutely awesome.

I hope to see Catz and Drewbie return take the second season as well, but I also want to see other teams bring their A-game and possibly give them some good games.

2v2 is really unexplored right now at a competitive level and tournaments like this can really help to get it more sorted out, maybe we'll see some creative builds emerge from the open bracket.

They were played during season 1 by pro players and produced some great games. They're on Battle.net, you just need to get some practice partners just like when they use custom maps in 1v1s. Using custom maps will highlight what teams took the time to prepare and what teams didn't.

The tournament is currently set to be held on August 20th at 10am PST. We apologize for any overlaps in tournaments but with the large amount of tournaments around the world it is hard for us to find a weekend that doesn't have any conflicts.

One of those weekends doesn't exist in this month... major LAN every single week.

Really looking forward to this. Looking for some 2v2 evolution with the new maps.

We're really interested in seeing how the new ladder maps play out in a tournament environment. Hopefully there will be some epic games in the new season!

Do you have to ranked in masters in both 1's AND 2's or just one of them?

You just need to be in a pre-established masters team with your teammate and have access to a NA account.

In season one ProTech/Power got to the losers bracket finals but lost to SeleCT/OpTiKzErO. They finished in 4th place. From what I understand, he's looking to have a different teammate for the season 2 invitational.

Hey,

Superninja and myself (Azide) are extremely interested in this tournament however neither of us will be able to make the open tournament or season 2. We'll be hoping to join you guys in season 3 when we are both able to play.

Point of this post... keep up with the seasons! 3, 4, 5 etc :D

Thanks for what you are doing for 2v2!

This was awesome last time, so happy to see that it's back. prodiG's maps are so amazing, might be either that or the casting that makes the EGMC 2v2 boring while PTSL 1 was so awesome.

About season 2, how many teams will compete? 8 teams, just as last time?
and how will the other teams be decided? top 4 from last season or just invites?

Unfortunately we can only have the tournament on one date. We only have 2 of us working on this tournament and we need to be able to focus on getting everything setup for the Invitational tournament. I know there are some teams that cannot make the date due to Gamescom but every other weekend has something planned so there's not much we can do. Sorry

The PTSL Season 2 Invitational will be a 16 team tournament. The top 4 open teams will compete against 12 well known / pro 2v2 teams from teams like EG, coL, dignitas and more. We're hoping to add a bit more of an international flair this season More details to come soon.

I'm working really hard with my teammate ppgbubbles. We're beasting 2v2 right now and should do well in this tournament, hopefully we get picked.
I will send in a application as soon as bubbles gets online.
We're going for the W!
Wishing you well.

Awesome! Like I said before, we want to get as many teams into the tournament as possible. We're sitting at 23 applicants right now which means it will be a 16-team tournament but if we get up to at least 32 applicants then we will double the teams invited! So please, feel free to tell any masters 2v2 teams you know, the more the merrier.

Will there be map vetoes? We haven't tested Deconstructed but Citadel of Gaia lags like crazy.

Also, must both players be Master league 1v1 or just Master league in the same 2v2 team?

The only requirement is that the team be in a pre-existing masters league team.

As for the maps, we don't have a veto system in place but both Citadel of Gaia and Deconstructed were used during the season 1 invitational without any issue. Not sure where the lag is coming from.

The form should still be working. I've gotten multiple applications since last night.

Here's the full link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?hl=en_US&formkey=dEtmUHBrbjQ3OGpSdHFIb0dFSmFJMVE6MQ#gid=0

Let me know if it still doesnt work.

We just got our 32nd applicant this morning. However this does include one or two pro teams that might get an invite and a team with the founder of the PTSL in it. 2-3 more teams would be ideal.

u should defenitely invite aristeo & cubert from EU. imo they're defenitely one of the best EU 2v2 teams and well known since they were the only team that could keep up with protech & co in the 1st season.
iriestarcraft (youtube 2v2 caster) was casting tons of games from them last year, when they were more active. afaik they seemed to be taking a timeout in season 2 and now started playin again. would be cool to see them in this tournament!

One of them is currently moving for school related stuff and wont have his computer available for 2-3 weeks. He could play on his laptop at an internet cafe or something but unstable connection + playing on NA from Europe isn't a very good idea.

I have you guys in our database, we're going to be closing applications on the 17th and will notify all of the teams on the 18th if they've been picked to play or not. A majority of the teams that applied will be picked but some who either put in lack-luster applications or don't have much experience may be cut.

At this point we have enough teams signed up for a 32 team tournament.

Just 2 more days to sign up! Sign-ups close on the 17 and the teams will be announced on the 18th!

Only requirements are a NA Bnet account and a pre-existing Masters 2v2 team.

Quick question. Do we have to have a Masters team ON the NA server?

My friend and I are in top 10 Masters on other servers - but we haven't played many games on NA at all.

You just have to have a masters team on any server, just make sure to give us your other accounts in the application.

hey, we are a 2v2 mastes team from europe, we would really like to join! but before I sign up I would just like to know if we could wait with getting the NA accounts (depending on if we get into the tournament or not), would really be a waste of money to buy accounts if we cant play in the tourney =)

You could wait until after we announce the teams on the 18th if you would like, but in order to actually play you'll need the NA account

Map rotation was listed in the email we sent everyone who was invited... but the first map for the RO32 is High Orbit and then losers chooses after that.

Yea - I think a lot of decent to good teams were left out due to the bracket being only 32. However, it does look like a lot of good teams were chosen. We were also left out, I still wish it was 64 as I do see several teams we've beaten numerous times... and also several teams that have beaten us numerous times

Should be a good season. Too bad it couldn't of been bumped to 64.

Hope to be selected next season. Time to practice more and better myself at ladder for more recognition I guess

The open bracket will not be streamed or casted but the replays will be sent to a caster to cast later. We chose to do it this way to allow us to have a large tournament in one day.

This was a lot of fun. It sucks that I got knocked out by the team that won right before the semi finals but It was definitely still a cool experience. Hopefully the season 3 open will have a losers bracket ^^.

I hope that next time some of the matches from the open bracket will be streamed - it doesnt have to be all but just some of them.
Aswell as Perserverance, i'll look forward to see a season 3.

May I ask how the teams for the open bracket were chosen?

It was all based on the application really, we verified that the teams were in masters and then we went through the applications to determine what teams would be best.

I then find it rather difficult to understand how our team was not even considered for the qualifications as we've consistently been in the top 10-15 of the global ladder + we contain 1 GM and 1 masters player.

My guess would be that your application was found to be lacking. Chances are the admins were more likely to choose people that put some time and effort into applying. Just my 2 cents.
