Cant believe theres so much hate in these threads while we're so blessed with a wonderful event, with wonderful games. Last warning, whine and insult the players or commentators? See you. |

So if the stupid, albeit necessary, extended series rule doesn't take effect, they make you have to win two best of 3's rather than an EPIC best of 7???? They already talked about how hard it has been for MMA while MVP gets to watch, study, and rest.
No, Naniwa had a 2-0 extended series going into a best of 7. Get your facts right.

MMA having to win 2 Bo3s is STANDARD double elimination format; why no complaints about the format before this? EVERY player has the right to fall into the "losers bracket" why should Mvp forfeit this right simply because he is good enough to go undefeated in bracket play?
Why on earth would they give Code A to BoxeR? There is absolutely no reason to, at all, ever. The terms of the Code A spot regarding BoxeR's position are perfectly clear.

MLG isn't deciding who gets code A, GOM decides who they wanted to invite and the terms for that
And it's called double elimination tournament format, the BEST one, the player who performs the best and stays in winners bracket gets the advantage in grand finals. Have you never played in a tournament before?

You realize this format is the only thing keeping MMA in the tournament? If it weren't for double elimination MVP would have won and Boxer would have finished second and achieved code S. MMA would have been out after groups.

Format makes sense. Need to give the winners bracket an advantage.

I think if Boxer beat MMA, he would have been down 0-2 in a BO7 (needs 4 to win) first. THEN, beat MVP AGAIN in a BO3.

Extended Series (down 2-0):
Possible wins: WWWW, WWWLW, WWLWW, WLWWW, LWWWW Possible losses: LL, WLL, WLWL, WLWWL, WWLL, WWLWL, WWWLL
So 5/12 possible results are W
2 Bo3 (vs 1 Bo3)
Possible wins: WW/WW, WLW/WLW, LWW/LWW, WLW/LWW, LWW/WLW, WW/LWW, WW/WLW, LWW/WW, WLW/WW Possible losses: LL, LWL, WLL, WW/LL, WW/WLL, WW/LWL, LWW/LL, LWW/LWL, LWW/WLL, WLW/LL, WLW/LWL, WLW/WLL
9/21 possible results are W
NOTE: These are not probabilities, just possibilities
It looks like 2 Bo3 favors the lower player assuming we're coming off a 2-0. Off a 2-1 I think the extended series may favor the lower player a little more even than the 2 Bo3. Again, not hard probabilities (much harder to calculate) but looking at possibilities.

I'm glad MLG actually does it right. Other tournaments don't get it right, like that recent Verizon tournament.

What a retarded format for the finals.. it is really a buzz killer to give so much advantage to one player.... in this case MVP.

It's not extended series, they've never played.
This is how double elimination works, MVP hasn't been eliminated once yet becuase he's gone undefeated to win the winner's bracket.
It's massively unfair to your undefeated finalist gets a single attempt at victory while the player coming from the loser's bracket is already on his second life lol

Its not mlg format that is fucking stupid, its just you. MMA is coming through the losers bracket while MVP is coming from the winners. It is not fair that if MVP loses this match he does not get to have another chance as everyone else did. This has always been a rule in a majority of tournaments that have double elimination. They are not giving a code A spot to boxer because he is an exchange player, the point of the code A spots is to give it to foreigners so that there are more foreigners in GSL. This was announced at the very start of the exchange program.

Mvp hasn't lost a single series, he still has his 2nd chance. It was the same way when MMA defeated Losira.

Thank you for helping to sprinkle logic and reasoning. People do not understand that loser's bracket needs extended series to make sense.
And Loser's bracket is awesommmmmme.
