Yeah right, alive is just some scrub that cannot micro a few units for an easy win -.- Your post is simply atrocious. Alive is an incredible player and even though he made a few mistakes, he did not play bad in any way. Darkforce was able to hold the early aggression and knew when to sacrifice economy in order to not allow the terran to roll him during the midgame. Even though Darkforce might not be mechanilly as good as most Korean zergs (and some foreigners), he showed an incredible game sense and desicion making during his games. And please don't forget that alive was considered the best player on fou by all of his teammeates who were interviewed during GSL. And obviously, he is decent enough to be the runner-up of the stacked NASL open tournament. wait what? alive is in TSL. anyways, alive is definitely a top tier player, but everyone can have an off day. he did not play too well today. he was in the lead the second game, but multiple failed drops, a baneling jackpot, and a fungal jackpot won darkforce the game. then third game the huge engagement in the middle of the map was just badly executed, weird marine movement, late siege, on creep, etc he is definitely a better player than what he showed today... alive is currently in TSL after he got picked up from fou. the "mistakes" you attribute to him are in fact often seen in the GSL and can hardly be called mistakes: You can spread marines only that much when dozens of banelings are streaming in; When you move out of course the zerg will try to stop you before you have your tanks sieged. Not to mention that his drops in game two did a lot of damage. The mistake he made there was that he should have stopped doing drops after the mutas popped out. I share your opinion that alive can play better, but in no way was he playing bad today. Darkforce had a perfect decision making, played safely and capitalized on every small mistake alive made. I strongly disagree. I feel that Alive played pretty badly and honestly Darkforce had a pretty easy win in the 3rd game. Before people crucify me for saying that, let me just elaborate on my argument. Perhaps a more experienced player can totally prove me wrong, but for now, I'm convinced that Alive straight up played terribly. As far as I know, you have to pressure Zerg. Or he'll just expand all over the map, and have so many resources that he can replenish his army over and over again (not that it mattered, because Alive handled every engagement so badly that Darkforce ended up ahead in supply in many of those engagements. No EMPs on infestors, which was CRITICAL. We know players at Alive's level are capable of great EMPs - Byun vs. Zenio is a great example of that. But Alive just let himself get fungled into oblivion). Anyway, a huge digression there. After that heavy helion opening, Alive literally sat on his ass, let Darkforce spread creep all over the map, and expand all over the place, while Alive turtled to 200. I'm not even a good player, but I'm pretty sure you're really NOT supposed to do that. Darkforce didn't have to deal with ANY sort of harassment after Alive's opening. He was able to comfortably drone up, pump out units, expand everywhere, spread creep everywhere, and Alive just turtled all the way to 200/200. Then when the battles began, all Darkforce had to do is cast fungal everywhere, which isn't hard to do. I'm not trying to downplay DarkForce's battle management, but I honestly think AoE spells in general are easy to do (I'm a Toss player who loves HT play, and yeah... Fungals and Storms are simply easy to pull off, even though people love to hype them whenever they're casted. Press key -> click). From there, it looked like DarkForce a-moved to crush Alive's army because Alive just doesn't know how to EMP infestors. If someone can explain why Alive did what he did and failed so hard at EMPing other than "he just messed up really badly", then I'm genuinely curious to hear an explanation. Bottom line: Darkforce played fine - he macroed well, and he had free reign to fungal everything since Alive seemed to not have the ability to EMP anything. But Alive didn't make Darkforce really fall under any pressure after the hellion opening. He left DarkForce to just macro and creep spread comfortably all the way until they were both maxed, and then failed all the battles really badly by not EMPing anything. A deserved win for sure, but not very impressive to me since I perceive Alive as playing really badly. I agree with you in part but: -Alive had to sit on his ass or risk outright losing the game. He cut scvs and drastically prolonged his expansion timing with the semi-allin he opened with. -After he lost the hellions with the roach push he had 0 map control with no way to get more hellions out as he was behind in tank count. -His move to take the gold was perfectly fine to catch up, as Darkforce's drone count was relatively low despite the very passive play out of aLive. -He did not get enough ghosts out early enough. Bottom line. -BUT, in all of the engagements Darkforce had HUGE fungal growths on the CLOAKED ghosts with no observers that the commentators looked over, and ON TOP OF THAT, he kept all but 2 infestors back behind the broods. No, fungal takes very little micro in general, but those fungals were great...and I really hate it when commentators say great fungals zomg >< -He didn't EMP in most engagements because he had sub-optimal energy conservation on his ghosts after cloaking them. So take it however you want but he didn't play that horrifically. and GO SELECT!

Please explain to me in what ways Alive's play is incredible. Is it the way he built ghosts and never used them, or the way he sacrificed multiple medivacs full of marines to mutalisks? Or is it the way he abuses stutter step micro (which he is genuinely good at), exactly the way I said? Yes, foU that calls itself home to Leenock and sC among others. Alive is top 50 on the Korean GM league, has 62% wins in Korean tournaments and made it to second place in the NASL open tournament. All of these suggest that he obviously isn't the mediocre player you make him out to be. Nah, watch his GSL matches when they actually last into the mid-late game. Alive almost always falls apart.
