@ BoSS: Since there is 15 spots open for Code A this time, have they said if you have to win 3 or 4 rounds? It's usually 4 rounds, but it's possible some are just 3 with autos?

I thought it was:

16 from previous Code A
3 from MLG/1 from Road to Korea
12 from qualifiers

16 from previous Code A is a bit much really.

So, to be fair, cArn has been in Korea for getting close to a year now but has he been expecting to qualify this whole time or is he just there for the experience? If you watch his stream, he's pretty damn good. Probably good enough to be a low level B-Teamer on a Korean SC2 team. The problem is, he doesn't have any practice partners since he's not on a team (officially anyway...people are saying that he practiced with fou like a few months ago).

He participates in a good amount of SEA tournament and usually does fairly well in them.

He probably would do well in Europe, and pick up a lot more experience/get a solid team at this point. Korea isn't hard just because of the player quality. It's more the fact there's actually not a lot of tournaments to play in and get practice from, outside of GSL. It's a really nasty Feast/Famine problem right now.

He's pretty high Masters in KR and has faced some GSL players on the ladder. And he's also beaten a lot of players in GSL qualifiers. I guess, that means he can stand toe-to-toe against some of the best. I think that if he moves back to Europe he might find some success. *shrug*

I've personally seen him take plenty of games off GSL players while I was in Korea. He's right up there with them skill-wise. There's a ton of great players getting knocked out right along with him. Code A qualifiers are brutal.

As for foreign events, pretty sure he's going to compete in WCG this year so you'll probably see him there. He'll own.
I cast, therefore I am.

I did too. Apparently that's for GSL August. Next MLG will apparently be spots for the GSL after that? It's gotten a little confusing at the moment. But it's 15 spots that are open at the moment. We're not sure where the spare 1 is going to be from. SaSe is going to be in GSL August.

Is that still the case with the Kespa problems resolved, and we just saw LG's own tournament with a sizable prize pool (10k USD + HDTV for 1st place)? If SC2 is growing in Korea, I would expect more tournaments to pop up.

Do you actually know or think that or are you just basing that off from not reading much about Korean tournies but the GSL?

Cus there are lots of tournies out there. It's the land of eSports!

Thorzain, Naniwa and SaSe have all been confirmed for August GSL (according to John) not this one (July). John also said there's only 15 spots up for grabs but gave no reason why it isn't 16. Which may imply the 16th spot goes to Sheth (pure speculation at the moment)

I'm glad that Artosis is LRing this on twitter. But he's too focused on what qxc is doing. Hard to get a solid understanding of what exactly is going on in the games
