Just to be clear: Are there people who actually believe that Idra isn't trying to send a message by not GGing?

So while others are busy trying to build up the esports scene, Idra is doing his best to tear it down with his shitty attitude and lack of sportsmanship. Its really sad because I was always one of the people who would defend the gracken when he started his zerg imba whining or when he would bm on ladder. Its one thing to bm and troll on the internet for fun. You dont comport yourself like that in a tournament and disrespect the sponsors of the tournament and the other competitors. You especially DO NOT FUCK WITH BOXER. Greg I hope you enjoy continuing to lose games and the rest of that quickly receding hairline.

you might want to read this thread.
this is a different issue than the stuff that thread is trolling on

if you read milkis' blog on working for MLG as a translator a lot of the korean players have the perspective that the entire NA scene acts like idra

the NA scene will never take off until the Korean scene takes us seriously for various reasons which is why you see gratuitous amounts of manner from players like incontrol

i'm fairly certain it matters not one whit what the korean netizens think of us, and wont affect e-sports in any way in the foreign side. The scene will do well or fail for other more important and less obvious reasons

you ever stop to think about more than just "the esports scene" and about the reputation of the country a player represents?

uhm, idra isnt our representative for other countries, hes not in the olympics, he plays a video game for a living that doesn't get respect from 99% of the population anywhere. I would say there are many much more widespread and known people than idra that could fill that roll.. idk say perhaps Obama, or any one of our ambassadors? or people in sports with a fanbase of many millions? or our troops when not in the states?

lol what? so if a person from another country comes to live and compete in yours they aren't a representative? jesus christ what are you thinking here... the koreans came to mlg, thought that a lot of americans would be bm, and then milkis corrected them saying it was only idra

you are pretty delusional sir if you think milkis corrected that ALL by himself, you know not the awesome MLG that they just happened to be at or anything with fans cheering their hearts out for the koreans and even chanting their names at multiple times.

I'm sure they were reaffirmed throughout the MLG, but this was the initial thought when they came here which was the point of my post, yes.

That's just a silly generalization on their part then. They would have seen enough of Jinro, Huk, Haypro, Ret et al. to know that most foreigners gg.

Finally, someone who knows what they are talking about.

This just proves you have no idea what you are talking about. In Korean starcraft, a gg is the equivalent of a handshake. To not gg after a match is the same as spitting on someone as they extend their hand to shake yours or screaming obscenities at them after you lose.

Idra was a part of the Korean scene for years. He knows the culture. He has no excuse.

that metaphor is so wrong... not writing gg is the same as simply not shaking the opponents hand after a match. writing bm stuff in chat would be spitting on someone.

I'd start this post by saying that I am NO fan of Idra and find his general attitude and those willing to defend/rationalize it to be a bit irritating.

But, at MLG last weekend, I found myself rooting for him because of his play. When he took apart MC in the first match, I was really excited to see his crazy macro zerg wreck possibly the best protoss on the planet.(Not interested in debating that)

But by the end of the weekend, whatever sort of issues he has taught me the error of my ways in rooting for him.

Not GG'ing Boxer seems like standard operating procedure to me. I'd say at this point, its people that want to excuse bad manners that I still find irritating. Idra is clearly what he is. Expecting different is silly.

Its a bummer though. It sure seems like he could be one of the very best when his head is screwed on right...

Daigo won today, Boxer won today, and the Mavericks won as well. Makes it even better to see garbage like Bosh, Idra, and Wolfkrone cry after they got put in their places

Idra is a jerk for not gging to the Emperor. Surprise! Idra! Being a jerk after he loses! It's like this is still news to people.

TT1 and an assortment of others are being jerks in this thread because hey, they love talking shit about Idra. Surprise! TT1 and a bunch of LR people are BM! About Idra, of all people! HOW DID I NOT SEE THIS COMING?!

Um, to the dude that thinks that TT1 is trolling IdrA because he didn't GG 'The Emperor', here's your evidence to the contrary.

It's obviously personal. Not that it matters. It's actually kind of hilarious.

Idra was a part of the Korean scene for years. He knows the culture. He has no excuse.

Imagine a baseball game. An opponent pitcher goes out and tries to hit one of your players with the ball intentionally. What is expected? The next time you are up to pitch, you will most likely try to hit one of the opposing teams batters. Boxer cheese, Idra didn't GG. Emperor or not, Idra can get ticked if he wants.

Wait what?

Cheese=hitting a batter with a pitch? Are you serious? Is that seriously the best analogy you have? Not only is it not even close to applicable, but it makes no sense.

A rush is part of the game. Idra didnt defend. If you want to use baseball analogy, it would be a fastball Idra couldnt catch up to. Or a curve when he thought he was getting a change up.

Boxer struck Idra out, and Idra has a right to be pissed. But he should be honored just to share the game with Boxer. You dont spit on the greatest person ever to play a sport.

Wow I was so happy to see Boxer win when looking at the results, and 2-0! ...and then I realized there was a 30-40 page shitstorm following it.

I do have to say that I agree with people said it is BM to not gg, especially to Boxer. I thought IdrA would gg to him no matter what as a sign of respect, even if the games weren't good. Either way, all the random shit talking should really stop.

I figured there'd be a definite possibility of him not gg'ing, but that's obviously not the point here. Idra doesn't get excused for being BM just because he's idra. If someone bm's boxer then they deserve to get called out, it's only fair.

lol i'm gold and i beat a GM using 2-rax transition into all marines.

i was thinking maybe the zerg could place his best tech structures at cross positions.. making his main just an expansion base

in game 2, maybe if he transferred away drones fast with drops and sacrificed those two bases he would still come out ahead if he had switched to mass ultras instead... his creep spread was a little slow too for some reason

i felt the map in game 2 was pretty balanced

Not in starcraft. In korean starcraft the gg is a sign of respect and is expected at the end of the game. Not doing it is far worse than not shaking someones hand. It is a personal insult.
