It protects higher seeded players assuming they are actually better and on average they are, MLG likes to protect high seed players to keep high skilled players in the tournament, that's the logic behind it. (I think someone also ran an analysis and showed that it produces more accurate results than standard double elimination according to ranking in a blog, but I didn't actually read that)

First of all, you have to realize you are comparing BW players to SC2 players... The games are different enough that you cannot simply compare the two types of players, it just doesn't work.
Also Flash plays Terran, which makes me seriously wonder about your ability to think coherently...
Your first point is correct, but as for you and everyone else go herp derp flash plays terran you should SERIOUSLY watch the All stars games...

Top 3 non-korean gets code a status if the player accepts. We got 2 non-koreans left atm, nani and idra. After that we got slush, moon and ret, and moon is korean and ret won't accept probably.
So we've got nani + slush. The 3rd spot will go to either fenix/thorzain. They both got the same placement so unless one declines, I dunno how GSL will select their 3rd. Maybe have them battle it out?
