awesome, can't wait for the finals! I am gonna say the special guess will be maybe Idra, Day9, Artosis, or Tasteless. Whoever it is, it'll be amazing.
|
I doubt IdrA is special guest becuase he is playing in it (I know InControl played too, but that is different). I really hope it is Day 9, but of course if either of Tastetosis came that would be amazing!

Man when NASL was first announced this offline finals event seemed like a distant dream; but it's literally around the corner and the player pool that is going to emerge from the groups seems insane!
As for the special guest - any of the fill-in casters they have had on have been amazing but a Day9 or Artosis/Tasteless would be super special!
|
So confusing. When it said Ontario I was trying to figure out what city... but it's Ontario, California? lol
|
ontario? Ontario? OnTaRiO? ONTARIO? why not anaheim? gawd i live in fullerton. ontario is little far away...
|
This is sick, the competition for the top two spots in each group is very close and the finals are coming up. Great job nasl!
I hope the special guest caster in someone awesome like day9 or artosis
|
Is thought this was the American star league why are the finals all the way in Canada? Definitely thought you guys said it would be in cali, kind of disappointing.

Day9 lives in California, I wouldn't be surprised for the guest to be him.
|
it is in california dex, re-read thread IMO
|
Ontario, California not Ontario, Canada.
![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/YbUPC.jpg) It's closer to LA than Riverside, guys.
|
For those who suck balls at geography you should update the OP to state Ontario California. Also: I'd imagine the special guest is Day9, as way back before the league stated, someone (I think Incontrol) mentioned getting Day9 as a caster, and Day9's response was something like "Sure, when are the finals?"

I'm like holy shit this is legit I wish I was in cali I'd frigin walk there for a few days and camp out in the ghetto for this,
Edit: what if Gretorp wins the massive open and Inc and gretorp have to play against eachother? Epic NASL castermatch

Bo16 is a typo. You can't have an even number of games in a best of.
That should be Ro16, as in round of 16. I don't know if you were being sarcastic or not, but figured I'd say so anyway.
|
It's gonna be great but I'm a bit disappointed that non season NASL-players can win the tournament. With the launch of NASL they emphasized the drama between players and the stories that would occur during the league play. I'm stopping my fuming now
OT: Suggestions for restaurants in the neighbourhood?

Quit trolling man, of course it is Bo16. I hate to see what happens if people go 8-8. Probly fight iNcontrol

Bought my tickets was at the Dave and Busters meeting and that was awesome and this should be just as awesome. Can't wait to see you guys there.
|
At first I also thought Ontario Canada too. Was like ... what?
I swear the state of California just trolls me
Anyway sounds neat, I might take a go at this one. Still a long trip, but it isn't like anyone will ever have a big tourney near east TN.

hope day9/tastosis/idra is the casting guest, rest just isn't on that level
|
Why would IdrA cast any of it when he could very well make it to the finals?

anyway - if i was in California i'd definitely be attending this.

+ Show Spoiler + Who is casting the finals? The 16-man finals will feature several casters who will switch off between matches
a lot of viewers like IdrA's analysis, probably one of the best analyst. sooo i think its possibly him

For those not familiar with California: Los Angeles (where Day9 lives) is less than an hour away from Ontario (the one in California not Canada).
So.... it makes so much sense for the guest caster to be Day9, but then again he's never been a guest caster before so who knows (but he's done with school now, so that could be why he hasn't done it before).
Edit: I just remembered, Husky lives in LA too, and he has done NASL stuff before.
|
I look most forward to "Musical Act and Entertainment"
I have high expectations for what Kpop group you'll be bringing in NASL
|
I'm really really tempted to go to this, its only a couple hour drive for me and i get to visit a bunch of college buddies.
|
Why isn't it free entrance, free coke, and free pizza llike the GSL. NASL sure knows how to milk money out of their fans.
|
I'll be there.
Can't wait to chill with all of the staff again :D

Musical act? Will NASL be getting a prominent but mediocre Korean girl group to perform?!

Took the words right out of my mouth.
And "prominent but mediocre" covers either every Korean girl group or no Korean girl groups, depending on how you select your opinions ;D

Don't suppose anyone knows how much a room will cost per night, i'm feeling slightly lazy so don't want to pick up the phone and ask.

We need big lans in Canada

Agreed the whole "Ontario" bit threw me off
So can somebody tell me who is in contention for the last few spots?
Is it: Top 2 of each division, then the top 20 aside from those fight for... five spots, and the open tournament winner?
Or is it, top two of each division and then the top five of the remaining people (no matches between them) and then the open tournament winner?
I think there's an open tournament isn't there? If so, when is it?

Musical act will either be that cover band that does those songs like "Fly like Aiur" or it could be Husky and his musical buddies who do the Banelings + SCV song. That is my bet!
|
Probably will buy a ticket at the door. I might not make it for Friday however. Here's to hoping to a well executed first live event for NASL. :o)

That would be pretty epic if they had someone from Blizzard. Didn't Dustin Browder do some commentating at Blizzcon?

In all honesty, I hope he doesn't commentate. Would be nice if blizzard had some presence though.

Amazed that it is already time to start preparing for the NASL finals. I should be able to attend this event, very excited!

Haha, my wife used to be one of the Event Managers at the Ontario Convention Center. I'll definitely be making it to Ontario! - it's like ten minutes from me.

If they do, I'm not sure it would be the best expenditure of funds.
Just a guess on my part though.
May be there, if I do, excited to meet everyone.

Does anyone know if NASL is paying for the players to fly in and stay? Or do they have to cover that cost themselves.

might go if i can get some friends to come along/ make the drive less boring lol

Probably have to do that themself. On the other hand, I believe GOM and MLG pay for the flights and housing of the exchange program players.

Anyone knows why NASL has removed the racial and map stats from their site?
Did Idra complain because Zergs were not underpowered according to the stats?

As far as I know, they get some money just for attending the finals. I doubt that it'll cover the flight cost of everybody, and it might exceed the travel cost of some people.

Really hoping for Gretorp vs iNcontroL showmatch casted by guest lol

Ontario, CA, USA.
Damn, So close...

This is going to be so awesome can't wait to see who makes the finals.
p.s. If anyone is interested in sharing a room and or carpoolin? I'm a poor college student comming down from Sac.

Does anyone know more event details? Are there going to be sponsor booths and other ways to kill time or is there going to be non-stop Starcraft action? How long will each day last? I think a lot of people would like to know more information so they can plan around the event. Especially people who need to travel long distances. Any response from a NASL representative would be greatly appreciated.
