All this talk about huge upsets... what upsets? I see two somewhat unexpected defeats and two somewhat unexpected wins. Sen and IdrA not advancing is a little surprising, especially the former. That mOOnGlaDe and KiLLeR did so well is also a little surprising. But in both of those cases, I know both players are capable of those performances. I guess DarKFoRcE beating MKP is a little surprising too. But honestly that's a normal amount of upsets for a tournament. Nobody is through who hasn't deserved to be through.

If you're surprised by TitaN, BlinG, and Snute, you haven't been paying attention. Nothing surprising about these players, especially given their groups and opponents.

Amen to this.
Holy check.

Why are people talking about ¨many ¨ upsets?

Lets see the groups:

A:MoonGlade and F91, I don´t anyone will say that they are bad. Yeah Sen didn´t make it but that was more the group being pretty strong than anything.
B:Xigua and kas, Kas i don´t think anybody doubted him passing which leaves us with Xigua vs Happy. Happy doesn´t do that well at LAN events and unfortunately we don´t hear too much about the chinese but Xigua played fantastically.
C:MVP and Goody, well I don´t think we need to discuss this much lol.
D:Now, this may be the more upsetishy group, until you realize that Killer has been on fire in his last tournaments showing and that thegroup was mostly Z and P. Its really understandable why idra got eliminated. I´ll give you guys this, 1 upset but it was not noobs that advanced they both are strong players.
F:Huk and Snute, Again Morrow got eliminated but well Huk and Snute are pretty awesome and group had a lot of Zs so i can see Morrow losing with his lack of practice as T(Did they let him offrace as T against Z? Well point still stands)
G: Darkforce and Marineking, do we really need to discuss this? Everybody expected MKP to advance and of that group it was either Darkforce or BeastyQt.
H:Supernova(who we all expected him to advance) and MacSed(Who is pretty strong shame we don´t hear much about the chinese scene).

Overall the only real upset was idra and after seeing his group you can really see why he got eliminated. All other groups had known people advancing mostly.

Since for SC2 the RO16, RO8 and RO4 are all being played this day, I think you can expect to only see 2 games on main stage, it wil be BO3 at least.

As for the offstage stream, Reis has not posted a new thread unfortunately, but since the rounds are on the same start time (this is an assumption based on time restraints), that only would provide +1 game to be shown live. Imo any game streamed will do though, should all be nice.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On a good note though, found the following news/twitter:

+ Show Spoiler +

For your enjoyment, we provide Main Stage & Second Stage streams through our WCG TV channel. But there is more! We also partnered with Own3D.tv to provide additional StarCraft 2 matches from our tournament area, as well as League of Legends matches.

Check out www.own3d.tv/wcg for more channels!

Also, we have partners in China, Russia and Poland providing their language streams.

Russia: www.goodgame.ru
Poland: www.headshot.pl

I do not know if they provide any SC2 live, but i found the russian site to have VERY good background reporting with player interviews, replays and such. Seriously check their videos:
Own3d GoodGameRU; Website coverage with Videos

Edit:
woops forgot to mention the Showmatches on Second stage, played on Laptops:

Dec. 10, 15:00 DB.F91 vs GLSnute
Dec. 10, 16:00 DB.Cobo vs Cytoplasm
> no idea how that works out if those players make it to the RO8/RO4 though.

there were no upsets even on a BO1...
mkp just lost because he though it was funny to nuke rush the zerg ...

the Zerg wasnt as bad and killed the ghosts and helions without trouble , so mkp was always behind after that ...

Idras wasnt an upset , its the normal routine..

Of countries with more than one person attending, only Korea, China and Canada had all their players advance.

Idra not advancing was quite shocking, given his skill compared to those in his group. I was kinda suprised that neither Morrow nor Elfi managed to advance either. Well, thats what happens if you play Bo1.

Oh how embarassing

Well, my point was that all the players who passed are not really ¨unworthy¨ or lucked in their way into the Playoffs.

At any rate, well done by the Chinese players.

why is idra not advancing suprising. he just loses zvzs because he rages at early aggression and thinks how his opponents are shit and gets his ass killed.

That little rascal, it's all fun and games for him. That loss put him on the same side as MVP and may have cost him a spot in the finals. :D
