Other Info: There will be a separate room for spectating and relaxing with professional casting from UC Davis' very own AlphaFerg. Honorary guests may also include HDGamer and vileSpanshwa, so bring a camera!
Computer setup and practice games will start at 12:00pm, noon, on Saturday in Kemper Hall on campus. Arrive on time to secure a good spot. The tournaments will run until their conclusion, estimated for early evening. Free play will resume after that.
Campus parking is free on the weekends. Thanks for the tip yasushii!
Here are some other LAN tournament basics you shouldn't forget:
- Ethernet cable, the longer the better.
- Power strip with enough outlets for your computer plus one.
- Headphones. Speakers are not allowed.
- Extension cord is a plus, circuit breaker outages are a pain.
- Routers and switches, if you have, are a plus to ensure you get connected.
- Do not bring alcohol, of any variety.
If you have any questions please post below, or feel free to contact the event coordinators Sam Vu at stvu@ucdavis.edu and Timothy Gandionco at tpgandionco@ucdavis.edu.

Hope to see you there!

I'll be there if going to the Maker Faire doesn't happen. Should be a great event.

I'm pretty sure the building does have wireless, but it may not be optimal for LAN play. Also, some people (like me) don't have a wireless adapter for desktop.
bump! anybody even at all remotely close should come!
Byron, you should add in the 1st post that there's free parking on campus on the weekends!
I can't attend but maybe the next one. Hope you guys have fun
Might roll around just to see things; don't feel like practicing enough to compete though. Best of luck to everyone else!
Do you have to be a UCD/UCB/CSUS student to participate?
Count me in. I'm a diamond Sac Stater and I'm ready to throw down.

Nah, this tournament is available to everyone. Those schools are just featured teams that plan on participating.
This sounds amazing! UCD Hwaaiitttinngg!!!!
42 players signed up so far!
this will be fun, see you guys there!
Oh god, now it's like 60 people and 40 maybes... gonna break kemper ><
WIll Spanishiwa / HD Starcraft be spectating / visiting or will they be playing in the tournament.
This highly influences if I want to go or not.
As it is a waste of time for me to play against Either of those two lol.
Looks sick guys! I dunno if I can make the one minute walk from my dorm though... Just kidding.
Perfect, Spanishiwa will be attending and playing in the tournament, and HD will be there.
As far as the tournaments go, we start the 1v1 tournament at 2 pm, which should get to the ro16 by 4pm. At that point, another 1v1 tournament starts (along with 2v2 and Starjeweled and etc...), so anybody knocked out in the first two rounds has a chance in the "lower" tournament. Both of these 1v1 tournaments will have prizes. This way, we essentially have 2 tournaments, with the first one having the top 16 players at the LAN, and the other with everybody else!
Kemper's lobby is gonna be soooo cramped lol But I definitely don't wanna miss out on this. I'll see you all there
@AlphaFerg
Well that pretty much makes it pointless lol.
You should have a grand masters league tournament then :-(
I didnt know spanishiwa was a local. I have been hanging w/ vile for awhile now. I have known iEchoic and VileKang from HW days. Will Kang be attending? Hes from the area as well.
uhahahahaha my friend is in UCD
I'm not though, good luck on the event oO
@Perfect,
if you mean KangWook, I think he might be attending. We have forwarded invites to UCB and CSUS, and basically in addition to this thread we hope to get as many people within driving distance as we can.
And yeah, Spanishiwa is coming to UCD next year so we invited him.

I have known iEchoic and VileKang from HW days. Will Kang be attending? Hes from the area as well. Members of our UC Davis CSL team have beaten Spanishiwa in practice. He's a brilliant player, but does not win every tournament he enters. There will be a chance to win prize money even if you do not take 1st place.
@Perfect: If you know iEchoic and Kang personally, we'd very much appreciate you contacting them regarding the tournament. The more the merrier!
@AlphaFerg
I am refering to VileKang. Team Viles manager, he doesn't play but does more of the behind the scenes stuff.
@byrondover
iEchoic has been on LOA for awhile now and he he does not live in the sacramento area.
kang is not kangwook, kang is from ucd, and kangwook attends ucb and is a grad student. i know kangwook but i really doubt he has time to come
Ah, my bad, I don't know anything unless people tell me.
If anyone needs a ride to this, I'm willing to provide transportation for you and your computer, up to a reasonable distance from Davis (Sac OK)
Vilekang will be there, yeah. And you might not have heard, but I'm inactive on SC atm so come and snipe me!! :D
@Spanishiwa
Something tells me you will do just fine
he's too good, inactive or not he'll smash us all at the tourney i bet =D
Whoo Update! We will have the entire event streamed and casted by digiwombat (http://www.justin.tv/digiwombat)
Justin TV is recruiting CS majors with an interest in gaming. Come to the event to receive a flyer for more information!
^yay! sponsors! is that in the 1st post?!
anyway, everyone should gogogogogogo!! it'll be freaking awesome.
EDIT: nvm, just went back and looked at it. hahaha
i'm kind of sad that there is no such lans over here in germany but not sure how many people would attend one, on the other hand.
This is so awesome to see you guys doing. I'm a Davis PhD student but I don't live in the area anymore. It's so cool to hear the aggies have such a scene going.
BAY AREA ESPORTS SCENE FIGHTING!!!!!! I can't go (RL friends, Y U GET MARRY?!) but I hope you guys have fun and take tons of VODs and pictures =D
I wanted to come but I don't have my own laptop to bring, but this sounds like it'll be a ton of fun! Hope everyone has a great time
Hmmm, I'm from the Sacramento area, and if my business ventures goes well, I'll be happy to donate some money towards prize pools in future events.
Been busy lately, so I didn't even know about this event going on.
i dont get it. i hear the tournament starts off with a round of 128? and yet theres only 60 ppl in kemper. isnt this a LAN tournament..? or are people playing from home...?

Props to UCD for an awesome tournament as well!

DUDE! I didn't know about this until just now! I hope there's a 2nd one in fall. I'm totally down to show up and at least watch (I suck personally at SCII, but I love it anyways). GO AGS! I'll have to invite my buddies (and maybe even that traitor who went to Sac State).
