Hm~ Gogog Diestar, Lz and Hasu.
|
Do the winner of these matches qualify right?
|
Wow, diestar is wrecking TT1 so far..
|
3/3 european wins for sure :D
|
Yes, Diestar qualifies if he beats TT1. Which is looking very likely.

That was pretty one sided :O

Getting both a robo and a stargate off 1 base spreads yourself too thin against that push.

Wow, such bad play from TT1. Oh and, we want to see Destiny play! :D

He's about as good as Diestar, he started playing weekly cups again only recently but he's not been doing as well as guys like Kas/Nerchio/Happy etc.
Nice to see Diestar in this, he went quiet for a while so I thought he might be putting sc2 on the backburner, but he's looking pretty sharp in this.

We revealed the round of 32 winners a couple days ago, and are now casting the RO 16!
|
Good thing that there is an open qualification for this. That way people like Diestar can qualify, which are actually really good but dont get invited to anything because they are no "big names".
Although a point system similar to TSL would have been even better.
edit: And I am still somewhat mad that only ro16 is casted while there were so many good matches in earlier rounds. :/
|
All the players in IPL season 1 were American right(or living in america)? So Diestar is the first European to make it into the IPL.

how were the ro32 matchups decided? it's pretty sad that 2 players from top3 of that ro32 were matched against each other (nerchio vs ret).

They won't. There are good na/sa players like fenix/tt1/sheth/ that will qualify. There propably will be more eu then na, but all? i don't think so

Interesting game between LZ and Tarson, though Tarson's macro seems a hell of a lot better.
Both meching, LZ with a faster transition into air Tarson doesn't feel he can break him despite a solid ground advantage.
Probably a window for LZ's bc transition before Tarson catches up on air, but Tarson is definitely aware of it since he's dropped like 5 starports himself.
|
Even if Lz's mass air plan doesn't work here on Terminus, I'm thoroughly enjoying this game. Mass air vs mech, and now battlecruisers on the way out for Tarson? Hell yeah!
Now both have BCs!! LOVE IT!
|
Sexy tvt between Lz and Tarson

Eh, the usual. One of the many great EU terrans.
===
This game between Tarson and LZ is hilarious lol. Tarson was pumping out 5BC's and 4Thors at a time xD
|
so many BC's!
+1 for that game.
|
That was very entertaining game.
|
|
Entertaining game, Tarson played really well.
|
Thanks blizz for the bc buff .
|
Diestar is very good, his problem is that EU has alot of amazing terran who get all the credit.
|
Funny thing is that 3 hours ago Demuslim when asked the top5 european terran mentioned Diestars .
|
Tarson did well to use all his excess minerals on orbital commands, so he was able to expand very quickly.
|
That last engadment was nice for LZ. His upgrades on BC were nice. He lost like 2 and Tarson at the sime time 5. Still Tarson could afford to lose BC's

Also thanks for bringing us these IPL Quali tournaments in this form.

Europe has like 10-20 top terrans, so it's hard to make a name outside of Europe without winning (or placing high in) a major event.

They replayed it after the cast was over. I think anyways, it was still on after the last game.
|
Are they going to release the replays from this maybe?
|
Yay, it's working again. Joshy's trying to get it back to exactly when it died. Apparently his internet committed seppuku for some reason. Tarson is just too epic for it.
|
Tarson's macro >> LZ's macro
Expo up much faster too. I don't see this series being anything other than 3-0.
|
omg.. the European domination begins...

LZ pulling a Nada, losing from not sieging tanks.

Poland > NA

Lz why even buy siege mode? Get another tank instead.
|
damn tarson... that was ridiculous goods
|
|
That 1 viking was pretty genius from Tarson. Pretty genius.
|
Good move by LZGaMeR to go for a counter attack with his marines and relying on his tanks for defense. His macro slipped long enough for Tarson to take full advantage with a counter attack after killing all the marines.

hasu is so good with his positioning and blinking the stalkers. kinda sad for vibe^^
|
Vibe never dropped or did multi-pronged attacks all game, which you really need vs this style when using roach/hydra
|
what is Vibe thinking?? such poor play after being so far ahead earlygame.
|
Roach/hydra/corruptor doesn't work against stalker/collossi. So sick of these types of ZvP's . It's a worthless combo. Need infestors or T3 quicker.

Very good focus by hasu on the first battle.

Why were there no infestors? HasuObs did a really good job of not losing colossi during the engagements and at the same time picking off the corruptors.

vibe still plays roach hydra coruptor.........its getting boring as hell and it does not work...and after 10000000 times it wont work either

Liking HasuObs' style of PvZ! Really solid and safe - 1 robo getting colo, add upgrades and gateways and get stalkers. Awesome ^^

It's on a cloaked map, it has something to do with that I believe

day9 once said that hasu plays solid and adds tiny tricks. that's what we saw in game 1. One lonely voidray just to deny roach pressure instead of harrass. 3 gate block to deny hit and run. other than that just solid play...

I'm pretty sure this HasuObs game vs Vibe is on the wrong map. Wasn't it supposed to be MLG Shakuras? I think the new MLG Shakuras is the ladder version but with blockers to prevent bottom of the ramp wall off.

Still no Infestors? Man...

haha Hasu has observer speed and is using it to follow the mutas :p that's helpful.

Yeah a couple a infestors to fungal those stalker , would be awsome. Hard though when they have blink.

Well yeah, when you have ultras, broodlords and infesters that all have 3 attack. i guess fungal can be pretty good on blink stalkers... My god some people are so dumb.
|
Really well played by Vibe on a map thats really tough for ZvP. Exploited the immobility of HasuObs composition very well with Muta-Ling.
|
Can't see how that was a good game from ViBe. He took a big risk with those Mutalisks, and it paid off, but his execution was way worse than Hasus.

It's a good choice for breaking a turtling protoss, but yeah he did quite a few mistakes. Both of them did though.

Good game from Vibe, just out played Hasu all around. Well yeah, when you have ultras, broodlords and infesters that all have 3 attack. i guess fungal can be pretty good on blink stalkers... My god some people are so dumb. I liked the guy that said " Lol he didnt even force field the ramp and let the ultras come in?"
Gotta love stream chats.
Good game though.

Can't see how that was a good game from ViBe. He took a big risk with those Mutalisks, and it paid off, but his execution was way worse than Hasus.
Why do people keep saying this? When was the last time you've seen a six gate timing kill a Zerg going muta in a competitive game? Hell, the last time I remember Mutas against six gate was Sen in the world championship, and he used them to beat six gate..

Void rays again from HasuObs? x3

he teched with like 6 hydras directly to mutas, any kind of aggression would have destroyed him, he was lucky hasu is a huge camper

I got pretty down with ZvP a few months ago. I just couldn't get past 3300 masters. It was like i'd hit a brick wall. So i thought well instead of QQing if you truly feel protoss are OP and the best race. Play them. What's the point disadvantaging yourself from the very start by playing a weaker race right?
Played them for a few months on a different account, got to masters again, and i soon realised just how immobile Protoss is and how much you can punish that as a Zerg. I was scared crapless of the mobility of Zerg and on large maps with 3rd/4ths that are quite a distance away (And banelings but that's another story) After learning this along with a lot of timings that i didn't know and the possibilities they can do. I went back to playing Zerg and got into Grandmaster at the end of the season and my ZvP is probably my best and most understood match up. I know it's only ladder but i've had some pretty big scalps of late and tbh i'd never beaten anybody noteworthy until that point.
It's great seeing Zerg's doing it more now. I honestly think it's the way Zerg has to play ZvP right now. Nydus is sooooooo good as well late game.

The problem with doing something like that, is that you can just fall over to a random attack. I think Hasu had a timing where he could have just attacked with his blink stalkers and ~3 Colossi and won the game right there (or at least provoked a basetrade).

that push did a lot of damage. good timing by vibe.

Tarson went through a quiet spell where he only seemed to really play (publically?) in the IEM lans. He recently started playing in a lot more of the regular EU cups again though ^^

This game could have looked a lot worse for Hasu, Vibe so late on taking a third having invested pretty hard into that Hydra/ling push and Hasu took a pretty quick third despite losing so much early.
Doesn't seem like it matters, Vibe just pushes in and kills him.

Voted Vibe, hell yeah! His game is really becoming something scary, crazier than Idra with mechanics that are only one tier behind.

Vibe specifically does that build to egg the protoss into base trade, if you watch his stream he rarely ever losses to any kind of 2 base attacks. No Protoss ever goes for those kind of attacks anymore since the infestor buffs.

He was only down 25 supply at one point (with fewer workers.) The army gap is only going to get bigger. You might as well attack and try to micro your ass off. If he had a 0.03% chance of victory, it turned into 0% by sitting back and getting more behind.
|
HasuObs might be the better player but he didn't play well this series, thus losing to ViBe...

you never had to be. Its just bad zergs crying because they dont want to actually learn to play the game. Look at vibe in the first game, when he played "idra style".. he got dominated.. Then when he used more units than roach/corrupter, even with his horrible micro he still beat hasu (a much better player) in 3 games. Its funny how using more than 2 units can completely turn a matchup around.

Hasu was actually splitting units up, the one time he lost Colossus to muta was when he was trying to get to his natural and the Colossus walked up the cliff whilst the stalkers were walking around, at the same time he was getting dropped in the main. He was defending like a champ considering when he got dropped he had 1 Colossus, 3 Stalkers 3 sentry and a few zealots.

Looks like zergs are starting to understand the concept of supply efficiency. The MU was never imbalanced, it's just that maxing out with roaches and just sitting back is a completely irrational way to play.

I was talking about the whole series in general. Although it's quite funny actually, ViBe had the game 100% won when his lings got past the cannon, but he still managed to fail and let them get surrounded, thus almost letting Hasu back into it.
|
This is the first time I've actually been impressed by Vibe, beating Grubby and Artosis isn't much of an accomplishment right now, but HasuObs is a pretty strong Protoss, not to mention beating Minigun in the IPL which was quite surprising considering Minigun decimated him the last time they met.
Using those mutas to keep the Protoss unable to move around was really good stuff.
|
People say that HasuObs was way behind after the 7 pool but they were even on harvesters...
I feel like the real issue was that HasuObs got a little greedy trying to setup his economy with minimal units for defense. Losing the main nexus to a group of lings and a few hydras because he had to defend his expo with his entire force of about a half dozen stalkers and one colossi was the clincher.
Zerg timing attacks are really strong against Protoss, most of whom play quite greedy. HasuObs lost two games because he basically had too few units to defend.

He was floating 2k minerals and only starting his third during that drop harass. Which was quite good, I agree, but with the army advantage he had at that point, it really wasn't hard to make those drops do damage.

Fast colossus is how you deal with Hydra drops. You cant defend Hydra/Ling with Stalker/Sentry/Cannons, you eventually die once your forcefields run out. You need the Colossus to kite the Hydra and aoe the lings.

After ViBe's initial performances in the NASL i was a bit sceptical and more than expected the TSL3 semi-finalist to take care of him, but ViBe showed what all the hype is all about; i was pretty impressed with his play in this series, particularly in the dreaded ZvP match up
Well played!

Why doesn't Hasu use photon cannons to defend in addition to the stalkers? Against mass mutalisks I mean.
|
i ask joshy, to not state every tiny aspect, which the viewer can see anyway. also to think a little more, before talking about tactics. "hasuobs with no defence at the main mineral line" at min 5 or 6, like what? preperation for 1 base mutas? i could give more examples.

you really think cannons can stop mass mutalisk?? seriously, cannons are horrid against mutas over the count of 5. You are much better off getting stalkers with blink.
Actually, the only way I've felt comfortable dealing with mutas lately is phoenix, or maybe storm lategame (but doesnt stop the harassing). Mass muta owns blink stalkers hard. Going phoenix forces a corrupter switch, in which lowers their food for other units until broodlords are ready (in which case if you havent killed him by then, you are dead anyways)
